When Claire saw her beloved Fridga being carried into her animal hospital she almost lost her ability to stand.  Fridga was her favorite of all the wolves, she was so majestic.  She wished so many times that she herself was a wolf, or at least had the spirit of one.  But, long ago Chief told her that she had the spirit of a tiger, it's why her hair was red, and her eyes were green.  But, she just couldn't help but love the majesty and legend that surrounded wolves.  Now she would have to lose her favorite.  When she saw the young man who carried the large creature into her clinic she wanted to strangle him, he was lanky built, but considering he was carrying Fridga who was at least 130 lbs, he had muscle, but she knew if need be she could take him.  But for now she decided to save her beloved beast.

She went to Ben and told him to take her into operating room one, there she would have to find a way to save her furry friend.  She had a tough task ahead of her because she was alone, and no one save for the man that may have killed her Fridga was there to help her.  She quickly got into scrubs, and forced Ben to put them on as well she then, began getting ready for surgery.  As she was checking Fridga's vitals she realized there were none, and she was heartbroken, her beautiful wolf was dead.  Part of her wanted to kill the young man who seemed not to know anything that was happening, but then she saw something that made her jump.  Fridga's stomach moved, she quickly grabbed a portable scanner and discovered Fridga had pups in her womb, and by the count their were four, but only two seemed to be moving.  She quickly began performing surgery to save the young pups, and the young man almost ready to faint after seeing her cut open Fridga's stomach with a scalpel.  Before Ben could faint she slapped him with her hand still covered in blood and a rubber glove forcing Ben to get a hold of himself.  But, after seeing her and feeling his face he turned and threw up in a nearby trash can.  She forced him to either stay and help or leave, but Ben was not that weak, but he was the queasy, and he stayed though he did take five more trips to the trash can as she removed each pup from the womb, and removed the skin covering them.

The pups were in the incubator and placed under light so Claire could look them over, two were totally okay, and if they survived the next four days would be fine, however two were not moving she noticed then that one had a group of holes around it's back, and the other had similar small holes.  She then realized that Fridga was shot, and pushed Ben up against a wall demanding to know what happened.  It was here that Ben told her he was driving from work, and the wolf came out of nowhere and he hit her, but not that hard.  When he checked on her he saw she was bleeding and not moving, and decided to take her their.  Claire wondered if this guy was crazy it's dangerous to touch a wounded animal even if he did hit it.  But, Ben didn't care he felt responsible and wanted to do something to help.  This got a strange response from Claire that this guy would want to help a wild animal that was clearly going to die, but she now had to worry about the other two pups.  She realized that she had to work fast.  Even though she tried she realized one of the pups were already dead, but the other had a heartbeat even though it was weak.  So she performed surgery, even though it was wasting resources she just had to save this pup.  She removed the five pellets it had in it's body, sewed it's wounds shut, and and gave it blood, and oxygen.  She also made sure she used a little antibiotic to keep out infection, now she had to wait to make sure that the three pups lived.

She thanked Ben for his help, but Ben asked about the wolf and the pup he wanted to know what she would do with their bodies.  She thought for a moment Ben wanted to mount Fridga like some random trophy, so she let him know she was going to incinerate them.  Ben asked if he could have them.  She was against it, but he demanded that he have them, so she agreed.  What Ben did next shocked her, he asked for a shovel, went into the forest even though it had just broken dawn, and began to dig two holes.  He returned wrapped the wolf in a blanket he kept in his car, and the pup with his shirt.  He took them to the graves and covered them.  What shocked her even more was Ben said a prayer over both, and said he was sorry.  She never saw anyone do anything like that before, save for her family when they lost their dog, or one of their horses.  She asked Ben why he did that, and he told her.  He felt it was right, no one should just die and be forgotten, even a big dog.  She then corrected him, and let him know that Fridga was a wolf.  He had to show her respect.  Ben apologized and left, but he came back over the next two weeks to check on each of the pups.
