April 21

Today was our community service day at the school for the blind. We senior girls went with the 6th graders (girls and boys) and Destiny went with us, too. We were mostly in the library storage room and we're putting stickers and tape on boxes of books and moving them. Some of them were so heavy that two people at once had to lift them. My imaginary friends were helping, too.

There was one man who was apparently yelling at everyone, and the 6th graders had been cowering in fear. I didn't notice the yelling, but people in my class were talking about it. At lunch, we sat in the library while some others sat outside. I was next to Destiny on the couch and then Kendra came to sit with us, saying she didn't really have any friends there. She doesn't actually know anyone well. Destiny told her we were all really sweet. But then when Payton came over to sit with us, Kendra had to get up and let her have her seat. Kendra had to sit in Dessie's lap, and she was embarrassed.

We had to do more work and then we were done. We got back in time for chapel. Lynn sang without Madeline this time, because Mady had been gone with us and hadn't been able to practice. Plus, she was probably worn out from the lifting. Then we had tutoring, and we didn't even do anything for the first two hours. But I don't think any of us were in the mood for math tutoring today.
