Chapter 8
Danny pouted and looked at his phone. Alice never told him anything or what on she was doing. He vaguely remember her mentioning Jane but he completely zoned out after she said she can't go.
He can't help but feel disappointed, sure he'd only known Alice for a few days (technically).
"Sweetie, are you okay?" Mary Thorn asked her son, he looked really sad.
"Alice said he can't come over tonight." he said defeatedly and sighed, he dropped his phone to his side and stared at the dull cream wall.
"Why don't you call her?" Mary suggested, even though Danny forgot who Alice is he can still feel the she is important to her.
"I don't want to, I might sound clingy and sh--stuffs like that." he corrected when he was about to say shit.
Mary laughed at her son's pathetic excuse. He was just shy and he can't admit that he really likes Alice because he just met her. This is exactly how he acted when he admitted to his mother that he likes Alice.
"Why are you laughing, Mom? This is serious." he said and groaned. He looked away from her mother's face and felt something snap in him.
He knew that instant that another memory just snapped back to place, he closed his eyes, wanting to see what memory was that.
"Alice?" Danny tapped on her shoulder, she was talking to Jane and he didn't want to intervene or anything. But he's scared that if he doesn't do this right now he might cower and not admit it anymore.
"Daniel." she said and grinned at him, he really like that smile, "Can I help you with anything?"
"Yeah, actually..." he trailed off, scratching the back of his neck, "I wanted to talk to you, alone."
Jane raised her eyebrows and looked at Alice, who just rolled her green orbs and motioned Jane to skeddadle. Jane raised her hands in mock surrender and walked off to his boyfriend, Linc, who was watching Danny and Alice with such intensity.
"So," Alice started.
"I really like you and I don't know why, it's just that I like you and I want you to go out with me." he said in one breath.
Alice shot her eyebrows up and wanted to laugh, doesn't he have any idea that she have been begging the higher power to get him to say that to her.
Danny watched her in silent, begging her silently to say yes.
"Sure, why not." Alice said finally and Danny grinned from ear-to-ear, "Pick me up from my house tomorrow, we can eat at Martha's."
"Sure." he said and watched as she walk back to Jane, he stumbled a few steps.
This was surely his lucky day.
He grinned and opened her eyes, her mother had sobered up and looked at her, "What's wrong, Danny?"
"I remembered the first time I asked Alice out." he stated simply with a splitting grin on his face.
He likes it when he remembers bits of pieces from her past, but something in him still tugged that maybe he didn't want to remember things.
"Really?" his mother asked, the smile on his mother's face was glowing.
"Yeah, it was kind of embarassing." he admitted and blushed a bit, he looked at the window and frowned.
Mary's phone rang, "Hello?" there was a pause, Danny looked at his mother and shrugged, the doctor walked in with a nurse in tow along with a tray.
