Chapter 16
Alice and Danny got in and was greeted by the scent of vanilla. Danny blushed deeply and looked at Alice, "I'd rather go to a barber's shop."
Alice shrugged, "I don't know a barber shop, plus I know someone here. We could get the haircut free."
"But this is a salon, for girls." he reasoned out.
A girl around late thirties showed up, she had bleached blonde hair and awfully thick make-up, "This is a unisex salon. We have male hairstylist who gives haircuts to guys. If you want I can fix you up to them so you'll be comfortable." the girl said.
"Danny, this is Michelle, my aunt." Alice said, Danny offered a hand but Michelle pulled him to a hug.
"It's nice to meet you, Danny." Michelle said and reluctantly let go of the boy, he was blushing deeply, "Oh, I didn't mean to embarass you or anything."
"No, he's just uncomfortable." Alice said and took Danny's hand. He finally relaxed and interlaced his fingers with hers, "Well, not that we're being rude but we don't have the whole day, Mich."
Michelled rolled her brown eyes and ushered them deeper to the salon, "Eugene, can you take the boy and give him a nice trim?"
Eugene was a spanish guy who married an american, he walked closer to Danny and examined his hair, "You have beautiful hair, boy." he said in thick spanish accent.
"Er..thanks?" Danny said unsure.
"I'll give you haircut and dye, yes?" he asked.
Danny widened his eyes, "No! No dye." Eugene looked slightly disappointed but agreed on a trim.
Alice smiled at Danny as he sat down at one of the chairs, Mich pulled her and settled her on the chair, across Danny.
"I really don't want to ruin your hair, Ali." Mich said and sighed.
"You won't ruin it, Mich. Just give a few cut and maybe dye it." she said, "It'll eventually grow so just do your work."
Mich rolled her eyes and tookt he scissors and began her work.

Danny looked at the magazine and tried to decide which artist wore the best blue dress with a single bow on the shoulder. He was aiming for Jennifer Anniston but the way Emma Stone was wearing it made him decide that blue looks good with brown hair.
He'd been waiting for an hour, Eugene was already done with him in less than fifteen minutes but Alice was taking so long. He wanted to sit beside her and look at what Michelle was doing to her but Michelle pushed her to the small lobby and shoved him a magazine.
"If you're done catching up on the lastest gossip about Robert Pattinson, that would be great." Alice said, Danny put down the magazine and felt his breath caught up in his throat.
This was not the Alice he met.
She had a shorter hair now, her hair used to be up to her waist and now it was just below her shoulders. And it was now dark brown.
Alice smiled and pushed his jaw up, looking back to Michelle who wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.
"Come on, Romeo." Alice muttered and pulled Danny out of the salon.
Danny was still speechless. He hasn't uttered a word since they got back to the car and headed to one of the beachfront restaurants that Alice kept blabbering about.
"Are you okay?" Alice asked, noticing him still looking at her.
"Yeah, it's just..." he trailed off.
"Well, if you don't like my cut, you need to suck it up. I can't go back and undo all this." she said and turned off the engine.
Danny looked at the windshield and saw a nautical-themed restaurant infront of them. There was a beach not far.
"It's not that I don't like it, but it's really new." he said.
Alice shrugged, "New life, new haircut." she said and gave him a cheeky smile, "Come on, you'll love the shrimp here."
When they got seated, Danny looked at the menu and slightly grimaced. Not that he hated seafood but he never liked sushi. And the menu was opened to the sushi part.
Alice gestured for the waitress and looked at him, "Still hate sushis?" she asked.
He nodded and looked at her, "Can you order for me? I'm kind of not used to this."
The waitress arrived with a notepad in hand, "What can I get for the two of you?" she asked with her perky voice.
"I'll have some California Maki and some Buttered Shrimp. He'll have some Buttered Shrimp as well, but lay off the garlic." she added, the waitress nodded.
"Any drinks?" she asked.
"I'll have some Iced Tea." then the waitress looked at Danny.
"A Pepsi would be alright." he said.
When the waitress disappeared, Danny leaned forward to Alice, "Do we always eat here?" he asked.
"Well, not always. Just on special occassions." she said and smiled.
Well, of course that's it. She also know that he was allergic to garlic that's why she said to the waitress to not overdo the garlic.
Something flashed to his mind but he forced it out. Not wanting to get a memory.
He frowned and leaned back, Alice noticed the sudden change of his mood, "Is everything alright?"
"I don't know." he said lamely, "You tell me."
Alice dropped her head and sighed, "You're angry."
Well, not really angry. But slightly mad, angry is a strong word for him.
"I understand that you want to live a new life, Danny but I'm not acting with my brain here. That's what I am when I'm with you." she said, "You manage to make me stupid just by being with me."
"I don't do that."
"Yes you do. Whenever I'm with the others, I think rationally. I think before I act, but with you, I don't think at all. I just go with my guts." she said, slightly laughing, "I follow my own advice."
When Danny raised his eyebrow she just shook her head.
"There was a sophomore earlier that asked me about my relationship and well, I just told them to follow their guts." she said and sighed, "I'm sorry for taking you here, it was a mistake."
She reached for her pocket and dropped the hundred dollar bill on the table, Danny was about to protest but she already stood up and headed out of the parking lot.
Now he felt bad for acting like that. She just wanted to spend time with him, but he acted selfishly by thinking of himself.
"Alice, I'm sorry." he said, but she got in the car and didn't said anything.
They drove back to Danny's house and she just parked at the driveway, not making a motion to go out or anything.
"I really am sorry, Alice. I wasn't thinking." he said.
"Funny, we always do the same thing." she said, he sighed and saw that she's not in the humor side at all.
I am such a jerk. he thought to himself.
He got out of the car and was about to say something but she reversed and left him there. Standing at the driveway. Alone.
