Chapter 18

The gym was full of red and white streamers, balloons were scattered everywhere. The strobing lights were dancing with the jumpy tune. The dance floor was filled with suits and dresses.

Edgar looked around and saw a few of his team was already in position.

"Team Alpha in position." a voice crackled on the ear piece that was attatched to his ear.

"Team Beta in position." another voice crackled.

"Team Delta in position." another voice said.

Edgar nodded and walked to the direction of the buffet, he took a cup in order to bring his wrist closer to his mouth without arising suspicion, "Wait for target. Possible quantity is twenty four. We only need Einstein."

A few of the other cops nodded at him when they passed by each other. The loud music was blaring through the speakers.

"Target in sight." Bethany said, she watched as Einstein walked in with four people around her, "Too many guards around her."

"Relax, we planned this." Will said, he looked at Edgar and saw him nod, "Team Beta, follow target. Team Delta split up and guard the doors."

The cops discreetly followed the orders and waited for further instructions.

"Target number two in sight." Bethany said.

A guy around mid twenties walked in, Edgar saw it and almost choked on the drink. He had a jet black hair.

"Ed, you okay?" Will asked him through the earpiece.

"Yeah." he drawled out.

What was he doing here? Was he the...?

"Einstein on the move, two guards only." Bethany said and moved closer.

"Beth wait." Edgar said, making the woman stop in her tracks and look at him.

"Team Alpha, start evacuating students." Ed ordered, Beth frowned. It was too early to evacuate people.

The cops followed order and Will moved closer to Ed, "What are you doing?"

"We didn't briefed who the client was. He's not part of our plan." Ed whispered and looked at Beth, "I want you to distract target number two."

Beth nodded and took a cup one student was holding. She took a deep breath and walked to the direction of the guy, she made a lame excuse to trip and pour the drink all over the guy's suit.

"Oh, sorry." she said, Ed and Will listening closely, "I'm really clumsy." she muttered.

"It's fine." he said and gave Beth a smirk, "It would give me an excuse to talk to you." he turned to Einstein, "We'll talk a bit later."

Einstein just rolled his eyes and walked to the chairs, where a few of her group was sitting.

Linc looked around, trying to look for Clarisse but she was nowhere in sight, "Who you looking for rookie?" Mozart asked.

"My date." Linc said and sighed, "Einstein, can I go and look for my date?" Einstein just nodded.

"Take Mikey and Ben." Beethoven blew out a breath and followed Linc and Mozart out of the gym.

Edgar noticed Linc and sighed.

Good,

he thought. At least Linc won't be harmed. He also noticed two man follow him. Well, we can deal with them later.

Edgar looked around and noticed that only his team and Einstein's group was left, "On my count, we all move." Edgar said.

He turned to Will who was near Einstein's table, they both nodded to each other and smiled faintly.

"Three..." Beth was starting to pull up from her dress to retrieve her pistol, "Two...." Edgar patted on his chest to make sure that he was wearing a bulletproof vest, "One!"

All of his team put out their guns, Will pointed the gun at Einstein's head.

"Nobody moves!" Edgar shouted, "This is the Watson Police Department!"

A few guys crouched down to the floor and surrendered quickly, but Edgar wasn't interested with them. He was more interested with Einstein who had a glare on her face.

"Search them." Edgar shouted, "Cuff them too. We'll take them to the station."

Edgar holstered his gun and smiled at Einstein, "Pretty smart, Ed." she said, "But don't you think you need to make a head count?"

"I know Linc and two other of your hooligans walked out." he said.

Einstein just smirked, "Just make a head count, Ed."

Edgar narrowed his eyes, he brought his wrist to his mouth, "Count them. Make sure that they are twenty."

"Well, I bet you've have the biggest surprise of your life, Ed." Einstein said, "Seeing Linc, a boy you knew ever since he had diapers is part of my group."

"I'll talk to him later." Edgar said.

"How about my client? He's called Midnight Prowler." Einstein smirked, "He's pretty rich now. Unlike ten years ago when you left him."

Will hoisted Einstein up and made her walk to the car. He looked at Edgar who had a hardened expression on his face, "You okay, boss?"

Edgar nodded then a voice crackled on his earpiece, "Ed, there's only seventeen."

The color from his face drained. He picked up his two-way receiver, "I want three units to go to my house and two units look around town for the three missing." he shouted.

He was about to go out of the gym when Linc and two others bump into them, "Mr. Steele!" Linc exclaimed.

"Will, cuff these three, I'll talk to them when I get back." Edgar ordered, Will nodded and produced three cuffs.

Mozart sighed and offered his hand to the cop, Beethoven looked at Mozart and looked at Linc.

"What's the meaning of this?" he asked.

Mozart laughed a little, "My friend, it means we're free from Einstein." Beethoven grinned and offered his hand.

Will looked at them weirdly and saw a few bruises on their face, when he turned to Linc he saw the long cut on his face that was covered with foundation but not enough to conceal it.

Linc looked at Will with a scared expression, he was going to jail and there's no one to blame but himself, "Don't worry, kid. Edgar will take care of you." Will said.

Edgar shot out of the car and saw that the front door was open widely, he rushed to it and let out a breath when he saw Ellen standing on the kitchen, her back was to him.

"Ellen, I was so worried." he said, when Ellen looked at him her face was streaked with tears.

"They have Alice."

Oh no. They have Alice. How could they? Who is Midnight Prowler? What's going to happen to Linc? Where is Jane and Wesley? What did Einstein/Sasha meant by Edgar leaving Midnight Prowler ten years ago? Where is Alice? Will Danny find out that he's been looking for no one?
