Chapter 29
Jane Rome
"A sweet and loving daughter, caring and admirable friend."
As Linc stare at the gravestone, he couldn't help but feel the deep sinking feeling in his chest, like his heart was ripped out of him. It's been a month after Jane died but everything was still fresh to him.
Every night, he close his eyes and see Jane in her yellow dress, the corsage tied around her wrist, her blonde hair was tied in a neat updo. Her face was laced with simple make-up, not flaunting the real beauty within her.
He can still see how she ran across the warehouse, the flash of yellow before him. Then he would wake up at the sound of the loud bang, his face sweaty and cold. Mason would come in and ask him what was wrong.
"Lincoln." the familiar voice of his father called his attention, making him turn, "Son."
Linc couldn't help but look down at the ground, he's dad must've hated him after all that he had done. He crashed the car he brought for him and became the worst kid in town.
"You haven't been coming home." Oliver said and sat down beside his son, he wanted him to come home. God knows how he's handling this whole fiasco, "Your mom miss you."
"Tell her I miss her too." Linc whispered and stood up, Oliver stood up to and held Linc's arm, "I'm sorry, Dad."
Tears sprouted out of Linc's eyes and his Dad pulled him in, not caring if he had helped a criminal or if he dealed drugs or if he crashed the car he spent years saving up. Because Linc was still his son and no one can overpower the magic of family.
"I'm really so sorry, Dad." Linc said with much more strength, he pulled away slightly and was about to run away but his father held on to him.
"You didn't do anything wrong, Lincoln." his father told him and wiped away the tears that flowed freely on Linc's cheeks, "You didn't do anything wrong." he repeated and kissed Linc's forehead.
Mason looked at the two man from the distance, he smiled and dialled Ben's number, Ben answered on the third ring, "Rookie's going home." was only Mason said and Ben knew that Linc was going back to his old life.

Linc visited them all, seeing how they are doing. For the past two months after all that had happened, they have managed to settle down and be happy with their lives.
While here he was, still miserable at the loss of Jane.
Linc went back home with his father, he tried to cope up and a little of the pain have subsided. After a few days of staying in the house, he couldn't help but remember Jane relentlessly. Everywhere in his room only reminded him of Jane.
"Linc?" he looked up from the picture frame of him and Jane and saw Alice standing at the doorway of his room, "Is it okay for me to come in?"
Linc nodded and wiped the remaining tears at his face, "Danny has no plans for today?" he asked, Alice just shook her head and offered him a small smile, "I miss her." Linc whispered.
Alice knew that. Mr. Waters called her and hoped that she could get him out of the guilt shell he's been living.
"I do too." Alice said and Linc looked at her, "I miss how she constantly tease me and Danny, how she keeps everyone happy just by being herself." Alice took the picture and smiled at it, "I miss my best friend."
Linc looked at his hands and curled them in fist, "It was suppose to be me. I shouldn't have dragged her there." Linc was about to punch himself but Alice caught his wrist, "How can this happen to her? She didn't deserve this."
"No, she doesn't." Alice said, "But it will only pain her to see how you waste your life like this." Linc looked at the emerald eyes of Alice and saw the determination on her.
"What do you mean?"
"She died saving you, Linc. She died because she loves you and she wanted you to live on." she said.
"I can't live without her, Alice. She's my life." Linc stood up and raised his fist to punch Alice but Alice stood up and challenged him.
"Go on, punch me. Beat me. If it makes it better then make me your personal punching bag." she nearly shouted, "Let out all the anger in you."
Linc tightened his fist but turned and punched the wall, hearing his knuckles break a bit. He hated the thought that he wanted to punch Alice, but the anger soared through his veins, "All of you say that it wasn't my fault but it clearly is." he said and dropped to the floor.
"Because it's the truth, Linc. Do you think we all wanted this to happen?" she asked him harshly, "Do you think that we pushed you to take drugs and specifically pick Sasha? Do you think that I ignored you and picked Danny instead so that you will be misguided?"
Linc swallowed a lump on his throat.
"If I knew this would happen, I would've picked you. So that Jane wouldn't love you too much and wouldn't sacrifice her life for you." Alice wiped the tears with her sleeve, "She loves you and you're here blaming yourself, when you're suppose to be living the second chance to live."
With that, Alice turned away and headed to the door, but she looked back at Linc and gave him a small smile, "We're not expecting you to have fun and forget about her, we only want you to move on and be happy for everything that had happened. Even if it's so sad."
