Chapter 19

Jane bit on her nails. She's been at the station for nearly two hours and they still don't have news from Alice. Wesley was there with her, trying to calm her down.

"You should go home, Wes. Your parents might be looking for you." Jane said and saw Wesley sigh, "I'm going to be fine. They'll take care of me."

Wesley nodded and grabbed his black coat, he walked out of the station and drove back home.

Jane looked at the officer and saw him frown, "What do you mean she got away?" Jane felt a lump on her throat.

"Unit Seven!" an officer shouted and then a few of the cops ran out of the station, Linc was at the corner sitting silently.

The client, Midnight Prowler, saw him and moved closer to him. When Linc looked up the guy smirked at him.

"Einstein got away." he said, "Don't you think it's a bit unfair because she got to run away while you're still here cuffed up?"

Linc's jaw ticked and he saw Jane sitting at the couch, "She won't be having her great escape." Linc said and moved closer to Jane.

Danny looked at the park, the last place on the note Mrs. Steele gave him. He looked around and didn't saw Alice.

"Where is she?" he asked aloud.

He was about to turn around when he heard the faint sirens. He frowned and saw the blue and red lights of a police car.

He shrugged and walked back to Alice's house, maybe she's already there.

When he arrived, Mrs. Steele was gripping on a picture frame, "Mrs. Steele?"

Ellen snap her head to Danny's direction and nearly fell apart. Here was the boy who her daughter loved so much, safe and sound, but her daughter was out there, possibly in grave danger.

"Have you found her?" Mrs. Steele asked.

Danny shook his head, "Is everything fine?"

Ellen shook her head, "Alice is gone. She's been kidnapped."

The color fom Danny's face drained.

Kidnapped.

He didn't know what to do, he looked around the house and sighed, "I'm sorry, Mrs. Steele."

"It's not your fault." Ellen said and moved closer to the boy, "Let's just hope she's safe and be found by my husband."

Alice grunted and tried to break free from the tight rope that they tied around her wrist. She didn't know how she got to this situation. She was peacefully sitting at the park when something hard hit her head and she blacked out.

Shakespeare saw the girl trying to struggle, he let out a tired breath and looked at his watch, "Where is she? She's suppose to be here ten minutes ago." he said.

Mercury shrugged and examined the blow on Alice's head, there was already a lump forming, "Yikes, this is gonna take a while to heal, sweetcakes."

Alice jerked her head away from Mercury and sighed, "Who are you?"

Mercury smiled warmly and offered a hand, "My name is Mason, but most of my friends call me Mercury."

She turned to Shakespeare who just dropped his head and let out a breath, "I'm Sam, but they all call me Shakespeare."

Alice frowned and then widened his eyes, "Linc is part of you." Mercury looked at Shakespeare.

"The rookie." Shakespeare said, Mercury nodded and turned to Alice.

"Why are you doing this?" she asked.

"Well, mainly because we don't have a choice." Shakespeare said then turned to Mercury, "Once you're in, you can never go back."

Alice sighed and turned to Mercury, "What's going to happen to me?" she asked.

"Well, we're not sure. But Einstein mentioned about making the investigator give up." Alice pursed her lips.

That's when a loud knock made all three of them jolt, "Hey, Mase! Open up! Rookie is here." Plato said, they opened the big warehouse door and Linc was standing there.

"What the heck are you doing here, Linc?!" Mercury shouted and barged to him, Linc avoided and it rushed to Alice's side.

"Why are you kidnapping her?" Linc asked as he tried to untie Alice's rope. Shakespeare pushed Linc away.

"We didn't had a choice, Lincoln. Sasha ordered us. You of all people would know what happens when we cross her." Shakespeare said.

Alice looked at Linc with a few tears on her face, she saw the long pinkish cut on his face and gasped, "What happened to you?"

Linc sighed and looked at Shakespeare, "Sasha cut my face when the other client got mad because of the drugs."

Plato swore under his breath and looked at Linc, "Sasha's here, go hide!"

Linc scrambled up and sent one last look to Alice, "I'll get you out of here." he said and went inside of the tattery room on the far corner.

The rumble of engine made Alice look at the big warehouse door. Three people walked in, two males and one female.

The female looked around her age, that's when she knew that this girl was Sasha Evans.

"Good job, boys." Sasha said and walked to Alice's direction, "Ed would be furious."

"Hey, Sash, who was the client. Never heard about him." Rutherford said and plopped down the worn out couch where Shakespeare sat.

"Well, Alice should be the one to know. They are practically related." Sasha said, "Though the resemblance wasn't there much, he had jet black hair while Alice had dark blonde."

Sasha fisted Alice's hair, making her yelp on pain.

"A pity you dyed your hair." she said and stood up.

"Who are you talking about?" Alice dared to ask, Sasha turned to her and smirked.

"Me." a deep male voice said, they all turned to the door and saw a man in early twenties standing. He was wearing a black suit and a white dress shirt.

"Ah, Midnight Prowler." Sasha exclaimed and rushed to the man.

Sasha would admit, she have a small crush on the Midnight Prowler. Those coal black hair and light gray eyes was something that can melt the hearts of the girls.

"I told you about thousand times, don't call me that. I never used that name." the guy said and walked closer to Alice, "And why do you have her?"

Sasha grimaced, he was more interested at the girl than at her, "Well, we are using her to get Investigator Steele off our backs." she said.

The guy raised his eyebrow and turned to Sasha, "If you are that great, you don't need a hostage to get cops off your back." he almost spatted.

"But--"

"And you got me arrested. It took me nearly an hour to get out of that stinky station." he cut her off, Mercury was starting to like the guy.

"Who are you?" Alice asked.

"I'm your half-brother." he said and smiled at her.

First of all, I want to apologize for not uploading recently, my grandmother died and it was a hard time for me and my family. We had too much things to do and my finals came up and also my grades.

Classes are going to start on October 10 and I promised myself to not have any distractions during weekdays. So I will be uploading only on Sundays, also depending if I had done any work at all.

I also have problems pushing through the story, I'm currently working on Chapter 28, which is close to the end. :( But enough about that.

OoooOooh, Alice has a half-brother. What is Ed going to say about this?
