Chapter 13

Alice walked in her house and smiled at the sight of her mom and dad dancing in the middle of the living room. Then she found herself asking a question, Will she and Danny ever experience that? Dancing in the middle of the room to a slow music with a tight embrace and nothing but all the time in the world.

"Not that I want to interrupt but I have something important to tell Investigator Steele." Alice said, making the couple jump apart and blush that they were caught red-handed.

Ellen cleared her throat and started walking to the kitchen, "Well, I think I should be making some dinner. Have you eaten, sweetie?"

Alice nodded her head and followed her father to his study. The spare bedroom that they re-furnished with a desk and a computer.

Edgar settled himself on the table, a few papers scattered at the surface. Alice noticed one file and frowned, she took the file and studied it.

Name: EVANS, Sasha Marie W.

Age: 18

There was a picture of a blone girl with dark circles around her eyes. Her pale blue eyes were a bit translucent and it was a scary picture.

"Why is there a hospital file of Sasha Evans with all of the other reports, Dad?" Alice asked.

"We believe that she's the maker of the drug Linc might have taken during the accident." Edgar said, "She's reported to be missing since Wednesday evening."

Alice flipped through the folder and frowned deeper, the girl was said to be suicidal and insane. Beyond repair. The doctor noted that her IQ was over two hundred.

"She's smart, crazy, a bit suicidal. You think she fits?" Alice asked unsure.

"Well, we know that the one who posted at the blog knows that she's crazy. She also fits the initial S.E." Edgar said and fished through the other files, "All we need is her location and a witness that can attest that she is making drugs."

Alice was about to say something when someone knocked on the door, she heard her mother open it and hollered, "Ali, Jane is here."

Alice excused herself from her father and walked down, Jane was a bit pale and looks like she'd seen a ghost.

"Are you okay?" Alice asked.

"Ali, I need to talk to your dad. I need to tell him something." she said a bit shaking, Alice frowned but led her to the study.

She had a strong vibe that what Jane would say to her father would be the answer to all the questions.

"Are you sure?" Alice asked for the millionth time. She just can't help but feel sick. The thought of her childhood friend going with them was something revolting.

She never knew Linc would join a group like The Geniuses. A group of people who makes drugs and sell them to other towns.

Jane sighed and looked at Edgar, "Mr. Steele, I'm sure I've heard right. This Einstein is going out of the hospital, escorted by a guy named Aristotle. The guy even called her by her real name, Sasha."

Alice groaned and dropped on the faded blue couch, she took her phone out and gave it to her father.

"I have a picture of Linc there. Exchanging drugs, I didn't see the Tutties, but I'm sure that it's what in the bag." Alice said and raked her fingers through her hair, "Now that Jane confirmed it, Linc is all part of this and he's getting into much deeper trouble that he originally is."

Edgar didn't saw it that way, if Linc cooperated with them, he could get away with only a community service.

"Jane are you still in contact with Linc?" Edgar asked.

Jane was shocked at the question, "Uhm, no, Mr. Steele, I'm not. We broke up a few days ago."

Edgar looked at her with sympathy, he knew that Jane and Linc had been in a relationship for three years and it all ended.

But now that Jane has given them a confirmation, she can stand in court and testify. This Sasha will be behind bars before Monday morning.

"Thank you, Jane." Edgar said. Jane understood what that meant so she stood up and placed a reassuring hand over Alice's shoulder.

"Everything's going to be okay." Jane whispered to her.

Funny, Alice thought, she'd been saying that to herself and still things get even much worse than before.

"Well, what are you planning to do now?" Alice asked her father. She knew that she was forming a plan now, his mind spinning like a cog of a clock, working nonstop just to nail this Sasha girl.

"I have a plan but I want you as far as possible." he demanded, "You are not to get involved here."

"I'm all in." Alice said.

Edgar sighed, "We're going to trap them. Sasha, her minions, their client. We're going to raid them in a place where they least expect cops."

"And that would be?"

"The prom."

"You're going to raid a gym full of students?" Alice asked, it was a bit preposterous but Edgar has good plans about it.

"We'll put undercovers there, a few guys and girls to dress nicely and be on a look out. When Sasha and her army have gone in, we will slowly evacuate students and faculty who are not involved in the raid. Once they're all out, we go in and catch them. They won't suspect it, they'll think there would be no cops since it's a school dance."

Alice sometimes thinks that his father was crazy, but it was reasonable. She just nodded, seeing that she can't change her father's mind.

"Fine, I'll be with Danny and maybe we'll go somewhere." she said and stood up, "Just be careful, Dad."

Edgar nodded and took his phone, "Acuna, I want you to ask your outside sources on the biggest client who will be looking for a new drug." he ranted off.

Alice shut the door behind her and walked to her room.

The issue on Linc and Jane was now over. Linc would be imprisoned and the Sasha girl would be behind bars, now the only thing that's going to bug her mind is Danny.

Could she live to be Danny's friend? Could she sacrifice her own happiness for Danny?

To answer the second question, undoubtly yes. She can sacrifice her own happiness for Danny, but can she be his friend?

Apparently, this isn't about Jane, Wesley and Linc. Sorry if you were expecting. I was a bit hungover when I posted the last chapter. But I promise you, the next chapter is going be a Jane, Wesley and Linc. Well, more of Jane and Linc but you know what I mean.

You'll soften up to Linc on the next chapter, he'll make a big revelation and it's going to be shocking.

Another thing, I'll be posting Chapter 15 after this immediately because it's an Alice and Danny moment and you're going to love it. :D
