Chapter 30
Alice parked her car infront of Danny's house and honked twice, the front door open and he slipped out. He was wearing a light blue shirt and dark denim jeans, his shoes was his favorite Nike hi-tops. He grinned at her and slipped in the passenger seat, she smiled and drove out of his driveway.
"So, what's the big news and you wanted me to pick you up?" Alice asked as soon as they made a turn out of the neighborhood.
"I can't tell you yet." Danny said and took a deep breath, "Just drive to the school and you'll know it when we get there."
Alice shrugged and drove to the direction of the school, Danny was jumpy in his seat. He was really excited to see Alice's expression on his surprise for her. He really thought about it and asked everyone's help with it.
Ted, Edgar, Ellen, Mary, Richard, Linc, Wes, even Alice's other friends.
"I'm getting really creeped out with your smile, Danny." Alice said, breaking Danny from his reverie, he looked at Alice and saw her nervous state.
"Just relax, Ali. I'm not going to do anything bad to you. In fact, I want you to always smile when you're around me." he said and nodded in determination.
"That's not kind of hard, Dan. I'm always happy when I'm around you." she said back and blushed a little when she realized how cheesy she sounded.
Danny grinned wider, if that was even possible.

They arrived at the school and Alice noted that it was deserted, like it would be during summer. She looked at Danny who was still smiling, he looked at her and handed her a flashlight that he carried with him.
"What are we going to do at school at this hour?" Alice asked. She looked at her watch and saw that it was a few minutes before nine.
"It's a surprise." he said simply, "Don't worry, I know you're afraid of ghosts, that's why I brought these along."
Danny raised a chain with a small cross hanging, Alice smiled a little and lifted her hair so Danny could clasp it around her neck. It was a simple design, it had small diamonds on the framing that glinted whenever their flashlight would shine on it.
"It's pretty." Alice said as she fingered the chain, "Thank you." she looked up at Danny and he placed a peck on her lips.
"You're welcome. I picked it personally." he commented and held her hand, "Ready?"
"Do I even have a choice?" she asked. Danny chuckled and pulled her deep into the hallways.
Alice can't help but shake a little, she wasn't afraid of ghost, she was more afraid of the dark. Her mind has a colorful imagination that tends to get her really nervous in the dark.
She felt Danny squeeze her hand in reassurance, she looked at him and saw him smile warmly at her.
"Where are we going?" she asked.
"To the rooftop." he said and pulled her at the stairways, she followed closely and let him lead her, "It's pretty cliche if you think about it but I don't know anything to do."
"We could've just went here when it's daylight." she couldn't help but grumble.
"I wanted too, but this day is special." he said and smiled secretly, "What day is it today?"
Alice looked at her digital watch and frowned, "August 28. Why?"
"Today is the day we met two years ago." Danny said, proud of himself that he remembered, "We met before the school started, you were going to the library when you bumped into me at the curb and then I asked you the direction of the school."
