Chapter 11
Danny opened one eye and peeked at Alice who has her eyes closed. They've been like this for the past hour, no one talking or moving at all. Just letting the breeze relax them and talk to them.
"Are you sure you're feeling much better now?" Alice asked with her eyes closed.
Danny nodded and felt stupid because Alice can't see him, "Yup. Much much better. Though the flash didn't stay. They just passed through. Like they let me remember for a moment then I forgot again."
Alice heard the disappointment in his voice, she opened her eyes and looked at Danny. Just staring at him, his brown hair that waved to one side. His slightly crooked nose because of the accident. His slightly thin lips that was a bit pink. His defined cheekbones and chiselled jaw.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked.
"I'm memorizing you."
"What for?" this time he frowned.
"According to my research, people tend to forget less when they imprint something on their mind."
Danny frowned deeper and slightly glared at Alice, what was she talking about?
"Is that what it is? Are you telling me that I didn't kept you in my mind a lot that's why I forgot about you?" he asked her.
Alice blew out a breath and held Danny's face, her palms laid out on his cheeks, "No. I know you." she said and tried to stop the tears on her face, "I'm afraid that in between this wonderful relationship we have, I'll wake up or maybe I'll be the one to forget you."
Danny sighed and held her face, leaning his forehead against hers, "Stop talking like that."
"It hurts that you don't remember me, but I know it will hurt much more that I won't be able to remember you." she said and lightly kissed Danny's lips.
He didn't pull back, he felt something in him that was unfolding. He leaned closer and pressed his lips to her, holding on to her like a lifeline.
He prodded his mind to remember this moment. The moment he was kissing the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. All cheesiness aside.
There was a something strong between them, something that Danny's amnesia could never remove, like it was forever branded into his mind. He felt everything, the fireworks, the butterflies, even the small anxiety that everyone has been telling about when they kiss.
When he pulled back, there were tears on her face. He smiled and wiped his thumb across her cheeks, "Stop crying, Ali. It doesn't suit you." he didn't know why but he felt like that would make her stop.
She smiled and wiped the remaining tears on her face, "That's what you always say when I cry." she said and sniffled, "I don't know if I'm suppose to say this on the first date but, I love you Danny."
Danny grinned and pressed his lips on her forehead, "I love you too, Ali." he said and gathered her close to him.
Everything felt surreal for both of them and they want to relish it while it still last.
They knew that it was real, but they both felt like they needed to pinch theirselves to make sure. But no one did it, incase that it was really a dream, they both didn't want to wake up.
Danny didn't want to break this little happy moment that they have. But he knew it was best to not let Alice get her hopes to high.
"I want to tell you something, Alice." he said, slightly hesistating. He was sure that it was time to tell her his decision.
