Lunch.

"How was maths?" Scarlett asked as Harper and Riley sat down at the table.

"It was maths..." Harper told her, making Riley giggle.

"True." Riley, sighed as she opened her bag and took out a bottle of snapple. Opening it, she drunk some before closing it over. "Your not getting any lunch?" Scarlett asked her. "Oh I bring lunch" Riley told her, taking out a smaller bag.

"By the way, if your not too busy studying your brain to boredom, this weekend there's this party" Harper told her. "I dont go to parties." Riley told her, as she bit into a sandwich.

"Dont start Harp" Scarlett told her. "Why not? It'll pop your party cherry" Harper winked. "Yeah, I'm the new girl here. I wont fit right in with your little friends" Riley told them. "They arent our friends, they are our...associates" Harper smiled.

"Thanks anyway" Riley nodded. "Hey, come on it'll be fun" Harper nudged her. "Is this peer pressure?" Riley joked, making Scarlett laugh. "Look, you'll hang with us. We go for like a couple of hours before leaving. I drive, which means we dont drink there." Harper nodded.

"Actually it's my turn to drive" Scarlett smiled. "...Then I'll be having a few..." Harper then joked. The girls laughed. "No seriously, we dont party hard. It's not like American pie, or...frat house." Harper told Riley smiling.

"Unless you offer to drive, we can drink?" Scarlett joked giggling. "I would offer, but uh my license wont work here. Not registered or some shit, and we only have my mom's car now so..." Riley shrugged. "Your mom...?" Harper began. "Yep" Riley nodded.

"Oh I'm sorry did your parents...?" She began. "Harper!" Scarlett warned.

"No its fine. Um...they havent divorced. Split right now, yes. My mom wont tell me why, but...I think he cheated." She told them without hesitation. "Oh wow" Scarlett stared. "I know how you feel..." Harper sighed. "Your dad a bastard too?" Riley joked.

"My mom actually..." Harper nodded. "Wow..." Riley spoke. "Yeah, two years ago. The new guy that worked at her office. Broke my dad to pieces...." Harper screwed up her face. "Some say, like mother like daughter, but I'm no slut" Harper smiled.

"I'm sorry Harper" Riley frowned. "It's fine. Hey, something your mom and my dad has in common" She then giggled. "Making it something we have in common. Could've been something happier but oh well" She then nodded.

"Sorry...is it still new?" Riley asked her. "Kinda. It happened two years ago, last year the divorce was finalized and well now shes living in a beach house not too far from my own, living with her five years younger boy toy, and my dad is busy paying bills and working." Harper nodded.

"Holy shit." Riley spoke up. "I've offered many times to get a job, but he wont have it. Says that I should  be focusing on school only, that I shouldnt have to worry about it. I love my mom, but I hate what she did." Harper told her.

"Yeah...my mom said my dad didnt cheat but...they started arguing once my dad came back from a work holiday thing. Argued all the time. The only weird, and frustrating thing? My dad came with us. We all moved out here, and the both of them keep telling me that's not the case. My Aunt Jayne also lives here, so..." Riley shrugged.

"Oh thats nice" Scarlett smiled. "Wait, you all moved here, but your parents keep saying there was no cheating?" Harper asked. Riley nodded. "So how are they separated?" She asked. "My mom needs some time, but my dad was like oh no, we'll move. Have a fresh start, everything will be okay. I know its bullshit." She told the girls.

"...I know my mom wont tell me because I'd never forgive my dad." Riley nodded. "No offence, but could we talk about something better?  I dont want you girls to feel down" Scarlett told them.

"No worries" Riley smiled. "I think I'll take up the party offer" She then told the girls. "Oh yay! It'll be awesome" Harper grinned at her. "Yep..." Riley smiled nodding. "Why not?" She asked the girls. "Exactly!" Scarlett giggled.

A guy then passed their table before Harper looked at him

"Hey Austin." She shouted, and he turned back. "Well, hello girls" He smiled, a cocky smile walking back to the table and stood. He had short brown hair, and wasnt that tall in height. A blue denim jacket with rolled up sleeves hung over a white shirt underneath. "You still having that party this weekend?" Harper asked him. "I am indeed" He nodded. "Great, we'll be there. With Riley" Harper then smiled.

Austin smiled at her, before stretching out his hand. "Hello Riley...new girl?" He asked. "Uh yeah!" She nodded, shaking his hand. "Cool, I'm Austin" He told her. "Nice to meet you" She told him. "You too" He took his hand back.

"Where you heading too?" Harper asked him. "To get the guys" He nodded. "Oh, do me a favor? Tell Nate to hurry up with my notes. I need them for last period, he's had my notebook since last week!" Scarlett told him. "Will do" He nodded, before chuckling.

"See you girls Friday night. Riley" He then smiled before walking off. "Friend of yours?" Riley asked them. "Kinda. We talk to him and his friends" Harper nodded. "Yeah, even though he's into her" Scarlett stared at Harper. "He is not. He's into all girls. So! Dont worry, he may hit on you" Harper warned Riley.

"Lovely to know..." Riley shook her head smiling, picking up her other sandwich.
