11pm.
"Riley..." Levi spoke quietly.
"Dont." Riley shook her head. Levi bit his lip, as he looked away.
The both of them had been sitting on the wall outside her house for the past hour, in silence the majority of that time.
"I told you ages ago, you dont need to stay here. Go home" Riley told him, with a little attitude.
Levi looked at her. "Riley, I told you I'm not leaving you alone like this" He told her.
"I dont to be babysat okay?" She turned to him with wide eyes.
Levi stared at her silent. She then sighed, and shook her head.
"Im sorry, that was...uncalled for. I didnt mean that" She sighed heavier, before covering her face a little. "Your in shock Riles..." Levi told her quietly.
"I cant believe he's still trying to control me" She told him quite shakily. "Why?" She asked. "Maybe he's just protective?" He half smiled, trying to sound positive.
Riley looked at him, tears in her eyes. "Hey come here" He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and brought her in closer. "Shh...Riley it'll be all okay" He ran his hand up and down her arm.
"Look at me" Levi told her. "If you need me...I'm just around that corner okay? Even if its at 2am. Call me" He told her with a cute smile, his blue eyes staring back at her.
"You need to get out for a while, to sit outside?...call me. I'll come right over, okay?" He told her nodding. A smile formed on Riley's lips, as she nodded. "Thank you so much" She whispered to him.
Levi nodded.
He leaned in and left and a soft kiss on her forehead before hugging her again.
"Riley? Sweetheart?" Her mom's voice called her. Riley sat up, and sighed as she wiped under her eye. "Is tomorrow...still on?" She asked him. "Of course, if you want too. I'm totally up for it" Levi told her smiling.
"Be safe, getting home okay?" They both stood up. "I will." Levi reassured her before walking to his car. Riley sighed, as she watched him get in his car and start it up. He then drove off, and waved out before he was off down the street.
Riley turned and stood at the end of the pathway as she stared up at her mom. She was smiling at her, with her arms folded. She walked up and into the house. She walked into the living room, as her mom closed the door. She stared at her dad, who was sitting on the sofa.
"Why did you have to do that?" She asked, with more confidence. "Riley..." He stood up. "Honey." Her mom walked in behind her, resting her hands on her shoulders. "Why did you do that?" Riley demanded. "I just...i got overprotective." Her dad shrugged.
"Protective? Your the whole reason, we're here in California anyway!" Riley gritted her teeth a little. Her dad sighed. "I know your upset...and confused but..."
"I'm not upset, I'm freakin pissed off!" She told him. "Understandable, but I'm here...we're going to make things good" He smiled at her.
"You practically told Levi to piss off, and never come back!" She told him. "I did not" He sighed. "You asked who he was? and why he had his strange arms around your daughter! I'm horrified, dad!" She shook her head.
Silence.
"So....what? What happened?" She asked him. He looked at her, silent.
"Still not telling me?" She shrugged. "Riley..." Her mom began. "No, mom!" She shrugged her off. "He cant even tell me...you cant even tell me. We're living a normal, decent life. One day, you go to a work holiday, come back...start fighting and then we pack up and move out here, and you still cant tell me why the heck we had to move away from our home! I think you have some nerve!" Riley pointed to her dad.
"You either tell me, what happened...to which I probably already know! And leave, or else I leave!" She told him. "Come on honey..." Her dad began. Riley took a step back, out more the living room. "I mean it." Riley warned them.
"Your too old to play the run away game" Her dad, tutted.
"Tell me how much you ruined our family, or I'll leave and not come back here! I'll go to Aunt Jayne" She told them. "Riley!" He spoke up. "Have it your way." Riley turned.
"Daniel! Just...sort this!" Riley's mom spoke up. Riley stopped, and turned. She stared at her dad, and watched as he rubbed his hands over his face.
"Your mom and I...are on a break because..." He looked at Penny. "We were having some arguments, over work...money...and not being that much in love anymore." He told Riley. "We both love each other, and you very much but...we're not in love anymore." Her dad told her.
Riley stared at them both of them, in silence.
"Daniel..." Penny spoke again, quietly. Riley's dad sighed. "I didnt have an affair." He then quickly told her. "But...I did exchange a kiss or two with a work colleague" He nodded. Riley nodded, finally knowing. Yet her mom stood with a shocked look on her face.
"So basically, you ripped this family apart because you let your tongue loose, and let walk into a whores mouth?" Riley asked. Her dad frowned at her. "No, this family isnt ripped apart. Your mom and I have took this break to avoid ripping it apart. We'd rather let it go properly than...hurt each other more...and of course you." Her dad told her.
"But you came here. You still cheated!" Riley shook her head.
"...Thats the truth?" Riley asked her mom. Penny then nodded slowly. "So...why are you here?" She then asked her dad, folding her arms. "Why are we here to ' sort it' if your splitting up?" She asked. "We're just discussing some things, some priority's, and future plans" Her dad nodded.
"Your included in this sweetheart." Her mom smiled. "What do I need to decide?" Riley asked. "Are we staying here...for good now?" She then asked her mom.
"Yes...thats unless, you want to go back and live with your dad" Penny told her. Riley stared, shocked. "What? I cant...decide that!" She told them.
"I cant...leave...I cant...pick between the both of you, your my parents" She told them. "I know this is difficult, and it doesnt need to be decided right now but..." Her mom began.
"Why did we come here...and start me at school, for me to leave again?" Riley asked her mom.
"We need you in education to graduate honey, we dont know how long this is going to take" Her dad then spoke up.
"I miss home. Of course, I miss my friends but...I'm making new friends here. They're cool, and..." "New friends...is that the boy, whos had his arms around your waist?" Her dad frowned, crossing his arms. "Irrelevant, right now" Riley held her hand up.
"I dont think so, who is he?" Her dad asked. "Not important, right now!" Penny backed up Riley. "Your daughter, isnt stupid. That boy, is a really nice person." Her mom told her dad. "I trust her new friends" Her mom then smiled warmly at Riley.
"Are you still staying here?" Riley then asked. Her dad looked at her. "Of course..." He spoke, in a little disbelief by his daughters words. "Well...we'll talk tomorrow. It's late, I'm tired...and..." Riley sighed.
"We're under a lot right now, honey. Go rest okay." Her mom hugged her. Riley smiled, before looking at her dad. "I love you dad...but you didnt have to do what you did" She sighed, before walking up the stairs.
Daniel shook his head disappointed before sighing.
