chapter nine
When Monday rolled by, Rebekka could not have been any faster to jump out of bed, which was a far contrast to her usually groggy morning routine. Dashing straight into the shower, she turned the water on full blast and enjoyed as the sprays gave her a soothing massage. After her shower she took time to carefully choose an outfit that would reflect her mood. 'Isaac would be proud of me' she thought to herself.
Over the past few months she had not really cared about how she looked because her mind had been preoccupied with other important things. But now that she thought about it, her wardrobe and dress sense was as much to blame for her unstable mood as everything else. She and Isaac had always said that what you wear can either determine or reflect what you are feeling, and recently, it had determined how she felt.
So settling for a cream pleated skirt, she matched it up with a short sleeved t shirt and black men's cardigan sweater that she had begged Isaac to give her. She had fallen in love with it the first time she had seen him wearing it, and had spent 3 days pleading with him to give it to her in exchange of her buying him another one. Of course she would've just gone to the shop and bought another one for herself, only it wasn't there. Isaac had gotten it at one of his modelling jobs and it was unique.
As she wore it now, she felt her heart constrict as she wondered how her friends in England were coping. Ever since she got to Korea, she had only spoken to Rona. She called the girl everyday just like she had promised after reading the girl's letter. But never once had she bothered to call her other friends. 'Oh, well, I will make sure to call them today.' She made a mental note as she slipped on her brown, suede thigh high boots over her black tights. With her outfit done, she moved to her hair, combing it in a way that added volume to it, she then pulled it all to one side and let it cascade down the front of her shoulder.
It was 10 minutes later that she had done her make-up and was ready to head down stairs. When she got there however, she realised that despite the fact that she had taken longer than normal to get ready, she was still too early. 'I guess I woke up earlier than I thought. I might as well make mum breakfast.' She said this out loud as she went into the kitchen and started getting the ingredients she needed to make her mum the perfect English breakfast. ( Yes, she can cook, as I said, she might have a rich mother, but she's not your typical spoiled rich kid. And besides, it just goes to show how great of a day she was having...
When she was done with the breakfast, and was satisfied with how she had set it up on the table, she finally got her bag, keys and jacket before heading for her car. Speaking of which, it needed a wash. 'I will also make sure to do that after school.' She added to her fast growing mental list.
It was 8:45 when Bekka stepped into the school lobby that had a lot of hallways leading to various parts of the school. One of the places it led to was the school café. The café was positioned next to the canteen for those who couldn't go through the day without caffeine. It was also quite cosy and was ideal for relaxing while enjoying some of the best coffee. And unlike the canteen, it was open at 7:00 in the morning, so it came as no surprise to Rebekka when she received a text from Mi-hi as she made her way to school, saying that she was running late so they should meet at school rather than Tom n Toms. This way they would have more time to catch up before the bell went for assembly.
"yeogi-e. [Over here!]"Mi-hi said a she waved her hand to get Bekka's attention. With a slight bounce in her step, she made her way to the table, seeing as Mi-hi had already taken the liberty to order a drink for her. It just goes to show how close they were getting, Bekka silently mused.
