chapter Fourteen

"Rebekka! Rebekka darling are you okay in there?"

"What is it now? Rebekka groaned into her pillow as she rolled over so that she was now lying on her back. "Ouch! And what is with the sun shining in mid-winter?" she whined protecting her eyes from the bright rays with her arm.

"Bekka sorry to disrupt your sleep darling but if we are to go anywhere today you are going to have to wake up." Her mum informed her in a voice filled with understanding as she poked her head into her room.

"Hmmm...I'm coming." She answered with another groan. "Just give me 10 minutes and I will be down."

"Okay sleepy head, I will just go and heat up your breakfast then." Her mum said while laughing to herself a little.

When her mother left, Rebekka grudgingly pulled herself out of her bed and made her way to the bathroom. She had a shower in under 5 minutes and managed to finish the rest of her morning routine in the remaining minutes. Once she was done, she checked her appearance in the mirror like she usually did but feeling a little vulnerable after last night's events, she decided to swap her green cardigan with Isaac's one. In a way putting it on helped her feel like herself. In times like this is when she missed his hugs most but in wearing his cardigan it made her feel like he was hugging her. 'Now I'm ready' she thought to herself as she reached for her light-brown satchel bag and white knitted scarf.

"Morning mum" Bekka greeted as waltz into the kitchen.

"Oh, look who decided to make an appearance" her mum replied sarcastically but with a fond smile towards her daughter.

"Whoooa, mum who's party is it?"Bekka exclaimed once she spotted the feast of a breakfast, before making her way to the table in the middle of the kitchen and sat herself down on one of the high stool.

"well I just thought that considering I haven't actually cooked you a meal since we got here due to my busy schedule, I might as well try and make up for it with this." She happily announced as she point to the food. "C'mon try it and see if it's okay." Ms Daniels urged her daughter.

"Mum, you know I always like your food."

"Yeah but you haven't eaten it in a long time and who knows, maybe your taste buds have changed. Besides I have also attempted some Korean side dishes. So C'mon try it quick." As Rebekka tasted a little of each dish, her mum closely watched her to judge her reaction.

"So how is it then?" she asked anxiously like a little kid who was really eager to please. This was a new side to her mum and Rebekka could see that the workaholic woman who usually cared about nothing but her job, had transformed into a mother who really cared about her daughter's opinion. So even though some of the Korean dishes were far from edible, Bekka put on a big smile saying,

"This is amazing mum. Where did you get the time to learn all this?"

"Oh, thank God you like it. "Ms Daniels put her had to her chest to give a deep sigh of relief. "I was never really good at following recipes so I was scared it would be a disaster"

"mmm hmm" was Bekka's reply as she struggled to keep the smile in place so that she didn't give away just how salty one of the dishes were. Immediately her mum turned away to face the sink, Bekka spat the food in her mouth into a piece of tissue and just decided to eat the English part of the breakfast she knew her mum was good at making.
