"Okay last question," Mr. Grovers says. "What makes you think you should win the contest?"
"Well. I've never had a chance like this before. And the school in the town I live in isn't very good. As a matter of fact, the town I live in isn't very good. Winning the contest would give me a chance to get away from all the bad things in my life and sort of start over. It'll give me a chance to have the education I need to do what I want to do in life, and to do anything I choose," I say and he writes that down and dismisses me. I grab my bag as I walk out but when I walk out of the door and turn to the right I run into someone. The person grabs my waist and pulls me up so I don't fall. I look up at him and I can't help but notice how hot he is.
"Are you okay?" He asks still holding onto my waist.
"Yeah. I'm so sorry about running into you," I say and he removes his hand, runs it through his thick dirty blonde hair, and looks into my dark brown eyes with his bright blue ones.
"I'm Asher by the way," he says and smiles at me.
"I'm Raven," I say and smile back at him.
"Asher come on we're going to get caught!" Another guy with black hair says down the hall who's standing with another guy with platinum blonde hair.
"Gotta go," Asher says walking around me and jogging down the hall with the other two guys. I walk down the hallway and back to the front of the building. I look around for the girl named Emily and I finally spot her standing by the front desk talking to a guy with light brown hair.
"Hey Emily," I say walking up to Emily and the other guy.
"Hey!" Emily says smiling. "This is my boyfriend, Austin. Austin, this is Raven, she's applying for the program."
"Nice to meet you," Austin says and gives me a smile.
"Nice to meet you too," I say smiling back. "I was wondering where I'm supposed to go until they decide who gets the spot."
"Oh well most of the people have been here for a couple days already and since we were just waiting on you I think they said they would announce who got the spot shortly after they interviewed you," Emily says.
"Oh. Do you know where they're announcing it?" I ask.
"Yeah they said they would call you all into a conference room and tell you who got the spot and to give everyone else their ticket home," Emily says. I nod and sit down in one of the chairs in the room and pull my bag beside me. I got bored waiting so I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and noticed Dylan texted me like a thousand times.
Dylan: Hey babe where are you? You didn't come over after school and I checked your house and you weren't there?
Dylan: Babe I'm getting worried please text me so I know you're okay.
Dylan: You're making me mad now. Is it so hard to text me back?
Dylan: Check your fucking phone.
And millions of others along the lines of those. After sending him a text saying 'I'm fine' I shove my phone back into my pocket and a voice comes on over an intercom. "Anyone who participated in the program for the completely cost free enrollment for next semester please meet in conference room six," the voice said as I stand up and grab my bag.
"I can take you there and I'll also watch your bag while you go in if you want," Emily says.
"Oh, okay I guess," I say and she starts walking and Austin catches up to us.
"Here it is," Emily says stopping by a door and grabbing my suitcase. "I'll wait over here."
"Thanks," I say and then open the door and walk in. There's only a couple of people in there right now but more and more start showing up after a couple of minutes.
"Okay everyone please remain quiet," Mr. Grovers says and everyone stops talking. "As you know there were quite a few but not many who entered the program. And we've interviewed all of you but one seemed to just stick out from the others."
Oh boy I don't usually stick out unless I'm doing something wrong.
"And that person was..." Mr. Grovers says and pauses for a second. "Raven James," he says and I stand there completely frozen. I never thought I would win. Everyone in the room started to clap and I just stood there completely surprised until I could finally move again and when I could I started to smile bigger than I ever have before. I did it. I made it.
