"How bad is it?" Dante asked, peeking over Garroths left shoulder while Travis looked over his right. Both of them trying to look at the thermometer the blonde held.
The three of them all had messy hair and bags under their eyes but none of them gave into exhaustion. Not when their friend was as sick was he was. Laurence had been sick since yesterday and hadn't been able to hold anything down, and had been running a fever. A fever, which even with the three friends trying to slow it down, only had gotten higher.
"102.4..." Garroth sighed, "If it get's any higher we'll need to take him to the hospital." He said, putting the thermometer on the desk next to Laurence's bed.
"Yeah? And how do you suppose we do that? Nobody we know has a car, and he's too sick to take on a bus."
"But how would we even get him there?" Travis nervously asked. "None of us have a car!"
"He has a point..." Dante said. "I'm going to call Aphmau and see if she know's any doctors that can come to the house and help us out."
"Good idea, Dante." Travis smiled, "I'll get more ice for Laurence."
"I'll stay here with him, i-in case he wakes up..." Garroth nibbled his lip.
"Okay... Don't worry, Garroth, we'll figure this out." Dante said.
Garroth could do nothing but helplessly watch as Dante and Travis left the room, leaving him to look after his best friend. Laurence was paler than he had ever seen, soaked in sweat even though he was only in his boxers. The only sign that he was alive as the whimpering and whining he did now and then, but that only came out now and then.
Garroth felt so helpless... his best friend needed him, and there was nothing he could do to help him.
"G-Garroth...?" A weak voice said, pulling Garroth away from his 'pitty party' and brought his attention back to his ill friend, whos eyes were finally open, but seemed to be duller in color than Garroth was used too.
"Laurence, Laurence how do you feel?"
Laurence only sniffled in reply, his eyes focused on the light. "I-I can't... Mr. Sun is too close. I-it's too hot, he's going to melt my ice cream." He said, making no sense to the blonde, which only caused Garroth to worry even more.
"Laurence? W-what are you talking about?"
Laurence sniffled, bringing his shaking arm up and draping it over his eyes. "It's too hot... t-too bright... help..."
Garroth frowned, trying to figure out what he meant, getting no where until he realized that the light was still on. "Oh!" He said, feeling almost stupid as he walked over and turned off the light. Something which seemed to help the brunette almost instantly. "Is that better?" He wondered, walking back over to his friend, grabbing the medicine which was on the bedside table. Now that Laurence was awake maybe they could get the fever down.
Laurence moved his arm from his face and let out a choked sound as he began to cry. "Mrs. Black Hole ate Mr. Sun!"
Garroth sighed, feeling bad for his friend. His fever was so high he was delirious. "Laurence." he said, touching his friend's head. "Stop, you're seeing things. Nothing bad is happening, I promise. It's just us, Laurence. It's just us." He helped Laurence sit up and handed him the medicine. "It's just Garroth and Laurence."
Laurence seemed to examine the medicine for a moment before he gulped down the liquid with a gag, then a frown. Their eyes met for a second, then Laurence looked a way, a blush forming on his already red face. Laurence then looked at his lap, as if he was processing something. "Garroth... Garroth... I like Garroth, he's my best friend."
"And you're mine, Laurence." Garroth said, feeling almost happy that Laurence was relaxed, but that happiness was short lived when Laurence began to cry again.
"And that's why I can't tell him... That's why I can't tell Garroth..."
"Can't tell Garroth what?"
"T-that I... that I..."
"Why are the lights out?" Travis asked as he walked back in with a plastic bag with ice in it.
"Oh, it was bothering Laurence." Garroth explained, watching as Travis sat on the other side of the bed. "He kind of woke up but... he's not really here." Garroth looked back at Laurence who laid back down and rubbed the tears away.
"What do you mean?"
"He's... hallucinating..."
"Really?"
Garroth didn't take his eyes off of Laurence, who's eyes were beginning to drift shut again, hopefully more from the medicine than anything else. "He said... he said there was something he couldn't tell me... I think he's scared to tell me something... something important."
"Why would be be scared of telling you something? You guys are best friends." Travis pointed out.
"That's what worries me... m-maybe when he gets feeling better I'll ask him about it..."
