"I don't really see the point in taking down all the Christmas lights now, I mean it's June." Laurence grumbled, as he balanced shakily on the old wooden ladder. "The year is half over, we'll just have to put them back up again in six months."
Garroth sighed, boredom holding the bottom of the ladder, obviously not paying attention to much of anything going on around him. "Because, Zane says it's against 'regulation'. As much as I hate to admit it, he's kind of in charge of what happens on this street."
Laurence glared at the string of lights he had been struggling with, which was just out of his reach. "Right. I understand that." He sighed, swinging his arm again as he tried to grab the string yet again. "But why did he wait until now to point it out?" He stood on his tip-toes stretching out his arms again waiting for it.
While in the middle of his reach though, the wooden piece he was standing on broke under his weight. His ankle twisted under him thanks to the broken plank before he fell quickly towards the ground. Laurence let out a cry, which was soon cut off as he slammed hard onto his back in the grass. The force of his fall pushed all the air out of his lungs with a gasp and panic gripped at his heart as pain rippled through his throat and chest.
"Laurence!" Garroth yelled, jogging over to him touching his shoulder.
Laurence coughed loudly, curling into a ball on his side, trying not to cry as he shuddered. Laurence couldn't even answer as he struggled to breathe, every breath he took was more painful than the last, every time he tried to move it felt like there was glass digging into the parts of his frail body that hit the ground. He knew a twenty foot fall would hurt so bad.
"I-I." He sucked in a painful and raspy breath. "Can't breathe."
"C-calm down. I-I'm going to get you some help, stay put." Garroth said, his own amount of fear pushing through him as he worriedly as he dashed across the lawn to the front door.
Laurence was shuddering, pain shooting through his right ankle. He could hear Garroth yelling from inside of the house for the rest of his friends. He had never heard Garroth sound so scared in his life, yet he currently sounded terrified, which above everything else made Laurence feel guilty about making them worry. He hated worrying his friends like this, especially Garroth who had just began to go out with, though this was the worst he had ever worried the blonde.
Only a few seconds later that Garroth and the rest of the roommates ran out to check on him
"I'll go see if Aaron can drive us to the hospital." Dante said, running across the street.
"Dude, you okay?" Travis asked, helping Garroth sit up. "What happened?"
"The-." Laurence gasped, "The ladder broke." He gasped again, "It was an accident."
"Well duh." Travis gave a worried chuckle, "Not even you're stupid enough to jump..."
Garroth pushed Laurence's hair out of his face as the brunette struggled to fight off tears.
"We'll get you to the hospital, don't worry."
"M-my ankle, I think it's broken." His voice shuddered in his throat. "I-I don't know if I'll be able to walk..."
Garroth's eyes flooded with guilt, "Laurence, I'm sorry I should have paid more attention."
"No, d-don't blame yourself." He said, the pain still pulsing through him but he found it easier to breathe now.
"Laurence!" Aphmau yelled, jogging over quickly with Aaron and Dante behind her. "Are you okay?!"
"Y-yeah, but I think I broke my ankle."
"Aaron is going to take you guys to the hospital, I'll get Cadenza then take the bus and meet you there."
"N-no. You guys don't need to worry so much about me, I'm fine."
"Non-sense, you're our friend, we want to." Aphmau smiled.
Garroth helped Laurence to his feet, supporting one side of the brunette while Aaron went to the other side of him, heading towards the black car. Travis opened the door for them and Dante helped Laurence sit safely in the passenger seat.
"Alright, we can't waste any time, we have to get you to the hospital." Aaron said, closing the door before jogging around the car and sitting in the drivers seat.
Travis, Dante, and Garroth climbed in the back of the driver's seat as the five then sped their way towards the hospital, all hoping deep down that Laurence was going to be alright.
