Authors Note: This is a continuation of Fall Fair, and Catching Up. This one isn't as mature as Catching Up but does have some mentions of Sexual Assault yet again! Please do not read if this makes you Uncomfortable in anyway! <3 I don't want to make anybody uncomfortable!
Soon the fair was over, but not forgotten. Not when Laurence was walking around with an almost zombie like look to him. He was jumpy at every noise and touch, his face was pale and his eyes looked distant. Even when they got home he didn't relax much. True he did get some of the color back in his face but he was still jumpy and very skittish, much like a squirrel. It didn't help that Laurence's least favorite Holiday was only a few days away.
Garroth wanted to try and convince Laurence to go to Aphmau and Aaron's party but he doubted he would even consider going. Not in the state he was in. Something happened and he was going to find out what.
It was after Laurence had gone to his bedroom to rest the day before Halloween that Garroth left the house and went to Zane's where both he and Vylad were living together. He knocked on the door, only having to wait a moment before Zane opened the door.
"Garroth." He acknowledged.
"Z-Zane, I need your help." He said, honestly not sure he had really just admitted it.
Zane seemed just as shocked to hear the words and simply backed up to let Garroth in. Zane then lead him into the livingroom where Vylad was sitting, reading a book. He only looked up when he heard Garroth come in. The two then sat down on the couch on either side of Vylad and Garroth sucked in a breath.
"I know..." Garroth sucked in a breath, "I know Laurence made you guys Promise not to say anything about what happened at the fair, but... I need you guys to tell me. Laurence... he's not right... he hasn't said anything since then, he doesn't eat or sleep..."
Zane looked at Vylad who was looking away, his fists clenched tightly. He sucked in a breath.
"It's not our place to tell you." Vylad said, "What... what happened was something that Laurence had been through before though and he is likely reliving through what happened the first time. I can't tell you what that is but I know it's bad." Vylad sighed, "Everybody is going out to a Halloween Party tonight, and I doubt Laurence will be up to it, so why don't you take that chance to talk to him about... whatever happened."
Garroth couldn't believe it, even now they refused to tell him what was going on with his friend-no- his boyfriend! His boyfriend was going through something so painful and he couldn't help him. Garroth clenched his fist then sighed softly, "Y-you're right... I'll do my best. I'm just... worried about him."
"Don't be." Zane said, "You're best friends, it won't take to long for him to open up to you." He grunted gently, then crossed his arms.
"R-right..." Garroth said, then sighed, "I'm going to go home a-and see if I can get him to open up to me..."
"Alright." Vylad said, "Let me know what happens. Alright?"
"Okay." Garroth nodded, then got to his feet, "Thanks..."
Garroth sighed, walking out of Zane's house and went back home. He was worried about trying to talk to his Laurence about this but he needed to He couldn't help Laurence if he didn't know what he was going through.
When he got home he found that Laurence was in his room but the door was slightly open. Garroth, curious of what was going on peeked in, seeing Laurence sitting on his bed drawing something on a piece of paper. His eyes were wet with unshed tears as he looked down at whatever he was drawing. He was in such a daze it broke Garroth's heart. Whatever Laurence was going through was bad enough that he was hurting, and more than the physical bruises that were healing slowly.
Garroth sucked on a breath, giving the door a gentle tap before he pushed it open. "Laurence? Can the two of us talk?"
Laurence seemed hesitant at first but nodded and moved over on his bed. Garroth closed the door behind him before he went over and sat on the bed next to him, smiling softly when Laurence put his paper down and put his head on Garroth's shoulder. Garroth pulled Laurence close, putting his chin on Laurence's head.
"I know that Gene did something to you... I don't know that is but... I want you to know that if you want to tell me... no matter what it is I'll listen." He promise, "I love you, Laurence, and I hate seeing you like this." He rubbed Laurence's arm comfortingly and he heard Laurence sniffle softly. Laurence was crying.
"I-I love you t-too b-but I don't t-think that I-I can tell you. I-I-I'm scared. I'm so scared, Garroth."
Garroth frowned, kissing the top of his head. "Scared of what? Of Gene?"
Laurence shrugged. "O-of him... a-and of what everybody will think of m-m-me."
"Laurence, your friends will never judge you, if they do then they're not your real friend. I won't leave you though, and I honestly don't think anybody else will judge you either."
Laurence looked up at him. "Um... o-okay... um." He rubbed his nose, I-it was freshmen year of Highschool... I had been the member of the Shadow Knights for a few months and had already done some... pretty bad things... Gene was ruthless back then and he has gotten so much worse... I-I had always feared him, but I did what he told me because I felt that... if I didn't he would hurt me... I was right about that for sure... B-but... when it happened I had done everything he asked, even if I knew it was wrong. I did it anyways. He... he called me to his 'office' which was behind the school in the abandoned building, I mean, that was no secret, even back then everybody knew where he could be found. So when he called me there I thought he wanted me to do another 'task' for him, anything to please him. I didn't want him to hate me... as an orphan I didn't want anybody to hate me. I wanted as many friends as possible... too bad he had to be my first friend, he was a real jerk. When he got me alone he... he hurt me. He hurt me in a way that I had never been hurt before, Garroth. I-I was physically and Emotionally hurt and I couldn't take it. I didn't want to go home... I didn't want to go back to school when I did get home and... when I did go to school the next day he tried to hurt me again... that's when I met you..."
Garroth frowned, he remembered the day he met Laurence. His now best friend had been pushed against the Locker at the school and looked frightened. Garroth, at the time had thought Gene was going to knock his lights out but now hearing what he had Garroth knew better.
"He was trying to get me alone again so that he could..."
Garroth clenched his fist, "He ra-"
"Yes. He did." Laurence said, clearly not wanting to hear the word as he rubbed his eyes. "And he was going to again, if you hadn't stepped in like you did I would have... It would have happened again and I don't think I would be here... You saved me, Garroth. In more ways than one. You saved me."
Knowing now what he didn't then Laurence's personality when they were younger made sense. When they were younger he was so shy, so scared, and would overreact to every touch. He would do whatever Garroth said, and took everything to heart. Between Laurence being an Orphan and being through something as traumatic as that... Garroth couldn't imagine what Laurence had been going through.
"Laurence, I-I am so sorry." Garroth said, "I never knew..."
"Exactly. You didn't know." Laurence said, "I did all I could to make sure nobody knew..."
"So Gene... he was going to... at the fair..."
"Y-yeah. He got close to. If it weren't for Vylad and Zane... it would have happened again..."
Garroth nodded, but couldn't help but feel sick to his stomach. If that happened to Laurence could it have happened to other members of the Shadow Knights? If it did then did it happen to Vylad, who until last year had been a Shadow Knight and just quit without warning and started living life as a homeless kid... He would have to try and bring it up to his little brother, he needed to know. But for now, Garroth's only concern was Laurence.
"The others are going to a Halloween Party, tonight." Garroth told him, "Why don't the two of us just stay home? We can watch some super cheesy movies, eat junk food, and make fun of the bad acting."
Laurence giggled, "An at home date?"
"An at home date." Garroth laughed back.
"I would like to have an at home date with you." Laurence said.
