Dante let out a painful whimper as he forced himself out of his hospital bed and got into the wheelchair, a pained groan escaping his lips as he then put his head back on the fabric. Even after this long of healing in a hospital room it still hurt to move even a little, but he wasn't going to complain, after all he was finally going to be able to go home as long as his roommates took care of him and made sure that he didn't hurt himself even more while getting out of bed or going to the bathroom. It was hard for him to think that he was going to need his friends to help him with everything but the fact that they were willing to didn't make it seem so bad.

"You okay?" Nicole asked, running her fingers through his hair gently.

"Y-yeah, it's just hard to move with my leg like this." He admitted, looking in his leg which was in a cast from his toes up to his mid-thigh. Not to mention that his arm was in a cast from his palm to his elbow. Both of which were white and covered almost completely in his friends signatures and drawings from everybody, including Malachi who was brought over by Aaron and Aphmau a few days ago and again after they decided to foster him without any warning to anybody else. Nobody was going to complain though, he was a cute kid and seemed to be a perfect fit for their small family.

"I understand, just take it easy. If you want I'll stay a few nights with you so I can help the others take care of you."

Dante blushed and giggled, "Um, yeah I'm not sure how Katelyn would feel about that." He chuckled.

"Ah well." She shrugged, and began to push him along through the hospital to Aaron and Aphmau's car which sat outside the hospital waiting for them. "You were hurt protecting our friends, the least Katelyn could do is let your girlfriend take care of you while you're down and out."

"True."

"You're a hero... you know that right?"

"Huh?"

"Well, I heard that Laurence and Garroth were the ones who were targeted... if you hadn't pushed them out of the way they probably would have died... I mean, you were just clipped and look at you... You're a hero, Dante. Even if you don't think so, I know you'll always be a hero to them, and especially to me."

Dante blushed, looking down at his hands. It felt nice to be called a hero, especially by Nicole. He hadn't considered himself a hero until then, but now he understood why everybody had been so nice to him. They all saw him as a hero. It was a strange change.

"My only question is... why were they targeted at not you or Travis? I'm sure Gene had to have had a reason..."

Dante frowned at his brothers name. "I um, It's not my place to speculate or tell you. That's a question for Laurence and Garroth, hell, I'm sure they'd know better than I would." He chuckled worriedly.

He knew better than anybody else that Gene didn't do things without a reason, and while he didn't know what those reasons were exactly he knew they had to be important. At least Gene had to think they were important enough to try and kill people.

An hour later and Dante was back home safe and sound, sitting on the couch while his friends gave him food, soda and control of the remote. Part of him felt like a King, while the rest of him was completely embarrassed by the fact that he couldn't do anything on his own. Then again, even if he could he wasn't able to, Laurence and Garroth were babying him and never left his side so that they could take care of him.

It was nice to be home, and it was even nicer to fall asleep on the couch.
