"Sammie, wake up," an old, familiar voice said in my ear. My eyes fluttered open tiredly. I stared up blankly at the old brown wolf hovering over me. "Will you stop looking at me like that and get up?"

I sat up with a stretch and continued to look at her. Elder Myanna sighed. "Come on, I need to talk to you." I slowly stood up and followed the old wolf through the forest. We walked in silence, the only noise being the slight breeze in the air.

After some time, we finally reached a small little cottage in a clearing. "Welcome to my home," Elder Myanna said as we walked through the front door.

"Have a seat, child." I sat down on a couch while Elder Myanna jumped up onto the other couch. She staggered slightly with a grunt as she pulled herself up. "Dang, this old hip," she growled quietly.

She sighed and sat down. She looked at me expectantly, but I didn't say anything. "Sammie, is there something you wish to talk about?" She asked. I shook my head. "Are you sure? It might help you if you talk about what happened between you and Mason."

My eyes widened as she mentioned us. No one knew about what happened. I didn't tell anyone, and I'm pretty sure Mason wouldn't either.

Elder Myanna nodded. "Yes, I know what happened between you two as well as one other person, but that's not important," she said, shaking her head. She leaned forward. "He cares about you, Sammie." My eyes narrowed at her; I frowned. I shook my head. "Yes, he does, and you know it. He told you he didn't want to hurt you. He only did it to protect you."

I hung my head sadly. We sat in silence for a few minutes, letting those words sink in. "From what?" I whispered. My voice was raspy and dry from not using it for so long.

"That I cannot tell you."

I jerked my head up, narrowing my eyes at her angrily. "Why not?"

Elder Myanna's expression didn't change. "Because it is not my place. I am here to help you, but I cannot tell you that. That's for Mason to tell you." I scoffed at that, rolling my eyes.

Elder Myanna's face softened. "Let me show you something. Come." Elder Myanna jumped off the couch, and I followed. We walked out of the house and stopped right outside the door, but everything blurred for a moment before it reappeared, clear as day. "Look over there," Elder Myanna ordered, pointing with her muzzle.

I took a step forward and looked through the trees. Standing in the trees were two familiar figures. "Don't. Call. Me. That. You will refer to me as Samantha and nothing else. But it would be better if you just didn't talk to me at all." I watched as I ran back to the pack house, sobbing. I took a few steps closer, sticking to the shadows of the trees.

Mason's expression was something I wasn't expecting. It was my Mason...and he was, actually, crying. Silently crying, but still. If I didn't feel as confused and upset as I did right now, I probably would have laughed at him. He never cried, and I would have loved to play around with him about this as a joke but I couldn't.

"I'm so sorry, Sammie," he whispered to himself. Then he growled. I gasped as I moved closer to the tree I was standing next to, hoping that he hadn't seen me or smelled me. "You were supposed to push her away, Mason, but did you have to break her heart?" He growled.

I tilted my head at that. Supposed to push me away? Why? Mason threw one last longing look back at the pack house before he shifted and took off running into the forest. I turned around and leaned my back against the trunk of the tree. I clutched its sides as my vision blurred and I felt dizzy. I shrank down to the ground and cried softly.

A cold, wet noise touched the skin on my arm. I raised my head, tears still in my eyes, to see Elder Myanna looking at me sympathetically. "I know it's hard. But you're not the only one who is hurting. Mason is...struggling at the moment. But he can't turn to the one he cares about, his best friend."

I sat in silence, staring down at my feet. "How did you show me that?" I finally asked.

Elder Myanna sighed. "I guess, I should tell you. Every werewolf pack has one werewolf that is called the wise one. We are direct helpers of the Moon Goddess. We can show our pack things, help them make decisions, or understand one another or something else. I am the wise one of the Crystal Moon Pack. And I'm helping you. You are a big cause because of how big your life is. You have a prophecy on you that affects everything around you. But you have made some of the strongest relationships with the people of your pack in six months than others make in their entire lives. You are a very special werewolf, Sammie." Elder Myanna gave me a small wolf smile.

I glanced up at her before I rested my head on my knees and tears built up in my eyes. I closed my eyes and whispered, "Why did it have to be me?"

"Because you have a heart as pure as snow and a soul that flies in the sky. You care about others rather than yourself. You are strong and kind. You do what is best for everyone, even if it hurts you. Sadly, there are not many people like you," Elder Myanna explained.

I wiped away my tears and stood up. "So...what now?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing together.

Elder Myanna smiled. "You go back to bed and figure out what you are going to do."

Everything started to fade, and I smiled. "Thank you," I whispered before I was swallowed up by darkness.

I jerked up to find myself back in my room, laying in my bed. I smiled. "Hey, Rosie." Rosie's head jerked up, and she barked. She leaped at me and covered my face in licks. I laughed, and my door busted open as Abi and my parents flew in. "What's going on?" They asked when they saw me laughing with Rosie.

I pushed her off and rubbed her head as I smiled. The three of them stared at me in astonishment. "Sammie...are you okay?" Abi asked carefully.

"Never better," I replied. Their eyes widened. I pulled my cover back and jumped off my bed. "I'm going to get some breakfast before I head out for a run," I explained. I walked past my wide-eyed and jaw-dropped parents and friend.

I dashed down the stairs excitedly with Rosie by my side. I laughed as I hit the bottom of the stairs. I smiled the whole way through the living room and into the kitchen. Everyone j passed looked at me in amazement, murmuring among themselves and pointing in my direction.

I grabbed a plate and a pancake from a glass plate on the counter. I poured some syrup on it and ate before I washed the dish and put it in the dishwasher.

I went back up to my room to change and get ready for the day before I was ran out of the pack house. I leaped and shifted in the air. I landed on my paws and took off running. The wind blew through my grey and white fur refreshingly, and I could smell the fresh air. I felt the soft undergrowth beneath my paws.

I looked to my left and smiled when I saw a playful brown figure running by my side. It was Mason, but I knew it was only a memory of him. It didn't matter though; I was happy to be with him.

Mason gave me a goofy wolf grin and began to leap around. I yipped happily and leaped at a tree. I pushed off of it and flipped in the air. I howled happily as I ran. Mason howled a goofy howl, too, and he growled playfully at me. I growled back and the two of us ran on.

The Mason by my side faded, but my smile didn't falter. "I don't care if you're pushing me away, Mason. I'm here for you, and I always will be, no matter what," I said with a gentle smile. "You're my best friend...and I'm yours."

Yay! You guys can stop hating me slightly because Mason wasn't doing it to be mean! The song is Drag Me Down by One Direction, but this is a Nightcore version. I thought it sounded better than the original. But I thought was good for how Sammie's feeling now that she knows Mason was protecting her and still cares about her. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, and have fun! Vote and comment! :)
