I sighed, resting my chin on my hand while Abi chattered away about clothes, movies, and her and Alex as we sat at the kitchen table. I loved Abi like she was my own sister, but she could get a little carried away sometimes. And sometimes drive me slightly crazy.

Abi noticed my expression and copied my sigh, resting her head on her hand. She frowned at me. "Look, Sammie. I know you are bored and wish that you could be doing something with Mason because you love him, but he's busy. So I'm here to keep you company."

I looked up at her sadly. "I'm sorry, Abi. It's just that-" I froze for a second as I remembered Abi's words. I narrowed my eyes at her. "Abi," I growled through clenched teeth, "How many times do I have to tell you? I don't love him. He's just my best friend. That's. It."

Abi frowned for a moment before she smirked at me evilly. "Uh-huh, sure."

I growled at her. "Abi..."

Abi laughed at me, covering her mouth with her hand and leaning back in her chair. "Oh, come on, Sammie! I'm one of your best friends, too. I'm practically your sister! I can tell everything. You may not be experienced in being a true teenager but I am," she said, flipping her hair like her prissy, girly-girl self.

I giggled at her while shaking my head. "What am I going to do with you?"

A chuckle sounded from the entrance to the kitchen, "What are we all going to do with her?" Abi and I turned our heads to see Alex come in.

He went over to stand beside Abi's chair. "Hey," Abi greeted him with a smile.

Alex smiled down at her. "Hey. I was wondering if you wanted to go out somewhere or something."

Abi perked up even more (if that's even possible) but then her eyes widened as she remembered something. She cleared her throat at him and motioned towards me with her head. Alex looked at me and his eyes widened slightly. "Oh...oh."

I narrowed my eyes at them. They were hiding something from me; I could tell. I crossed my arms and leaned back. "So...what are you two hiding from me?"

They shared a quick glance and turned back to me. "What ever are talking about, Sammie?" Abi asked kind of dramatically.

"Abi, you're not fooling me for a second."

Abi looked up at Alex, silently asking for help. Alex rubbed the back of his neck. "Um...how about we go for a run?" He suggested quickly. "I bet I can beat you by now, Sammie. I have been practicing."

A smirk played on my face. He had gotten me. "Really? You really want to challenge me to a race?" I pushed my chair back with a screech and stood up. I kept my arms crossed as I slowly walked up to him menacingly. "Then let's race, pretty boy."

Alex lead the way outside. "First one to the east border?" He asked. Abi glared at him and cleared her throat. It took him a second to figure out whatever she was trying to tell him. "Oh...I mean, let's race to the west border! Yeah, it's much better racing that way."

Alex turned me toward the west. I narrowed my eyes at him. What were they hiding? I had fallen for the bait one time, but I snapped out of it now. "Okay, what is going on?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips with a scowl.

Abi and Alex shared a glance for what seemed like the thousandth time. "Nothing...it's just the path to the east border is tougher, and it's easier to race to the west border," Abi tried to cover up.
