I woke up with a start, almost falling out of my bed in my rush. Alex, who had just come into the room, stumbled back in surprise. I smiled at him as I passed to go to my closet and change real quick. I hopped through the doorway on one foot, trying to hurry and pull on my shoes. Finally, I got them on, banging my foot on the ground to get the heel in right.
I ran down the stairs while leaving a still shocked Alex behind. Several people jumped out of my way as I ran down as fast as I could. I knew what I had to do now. I was stronger than the way I've been acting lately. I was acting weak, and I promised myself that I would never do it again because that isn't who I am.
The bottom of the stairs came into view, and I was about to jump off the last five or six steps when suddenly, a figure appeared there, arms outstretched and holding onto the wall. His face was one of shock and disbelief. I tried to pull myself to a stop, but I ended up tripping in the process and tumbling right into the guy.
I felt the warmth of his body and listened to the soft beating of his familiar heart. I sighed in relief, my worries draining from my body at just being with him again. He chuckled, "Well then...isn't this familiar?" I looked up at Mason with a smile, resting my chin on his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and helped both of us up before looking down at me with those icy blue eyes, so gentle and comforting.
"I missed you," I said softly.
He smiled at my words. "I bet you didn't as much as I did." I smirked, but nodded. His face fell into one of confusion. "What?"
"I know you did," I replied. "I know you missed me more; you cared for me more. I was just being selfish, and I didn't even think about how I would affect everyone else around me. I'm so sorry." My voice grew quiet, just barely above a whisper as I hung my head in shame.
Mason didn't say a word. He just gently grabbed my chin in his hand and brought it up to look at him. All I could see was his perfect skin, those two icy blue orbs filled with love and kindness, and his gorgeous dark brown hair. I almost felt like I wasn't going to be able to breath while looking at him. Finally, he lowered his lips down to mine and kissed me gently. I wrapped my arms around his neck and closed my eyes as Mason rested his hands on my hips.
"I was so worried about you, Sammie," he murmured against my lips. I smiled.
Suddenly, the high-pitched scream of a fangirl sounded behind us followed by, "Get a freaking room, you guys! You're literally right in front of the stairs of the pack house!" We looked up at a squealing Arial and Alex with his hands on his hips. I blushed slightly at his words.
Arial ran over to me and grabbed my hands while she jumped up and down in excitement. "Oh my gosh, you two are so cute! And you're finally up, Sammie! You're finally up!" She jumped at me and hugged me as tight as she possibly could.
"Um...Ari...kind of...can't breathe," I choked out. Ari jumped back and gave an apologetic smile. "You're Abigail's sister alright," I remarked. Her face grew soft at the memory of her sweet older sister. I walked up to her and hugged her. "I know it's tough," I whispered, "but we're going to get through this." I pulled back to look right into her eyes. "Together." She smiled and nodded before hugging me again.
"Okay then!" I started, jumping around to face Mason and Alex as well as Arial. "We have a lot of work to do! We are going to kick those hybrids' sorry butts!" They laughed at me as I placed my hands on my hips. It was time to get started. We were going to win this war if it was the last thing I do.

"We need to call the other werewolf packs. There's no way we can take on all of the hybrids by ourselves," I reasoned with Alpha Drake. He nodded. "Actually, if you don't mind, I would like to do that part," I added.
Alpha Drake furrowed his eyebrows together. "Are you sure, Sammie? That's a lot of work and responsibility."
I took a deep breath and nodded. "I am going to be leading everyone into this fight. Therefore, it is my responsibility to take care of this myself." Alpha Drake understood and gave me the phone numbers of all of the werewolf packs that were three days or less travel away from our territory. I thanked him before I went back to my room.
I started calling one number after another, explaining the situation and gathering together the packs. Pretty much all of the packs had lost several of their pack members to the hybrids and were more than willing to join in the fight. Finally, I finished after thirty seven packs agreed to come together and battle against the hybrids. Even, if we were territorial werewolves, we would do anything for our pack.
And that's just what I planned to do.
Suddenly, my bedroom door opened as Mason walked in with a Nutrigrain bar in his mouth. He tossed me a strawberry one, which I easily caught. He came to sit beside me on the bed as I opened up the wrapper to my snack.
Mason placed his arm over my shoulders and squeezed gently. He swallowed the rest of his bar before saying, "You've been working really hard for all of this."
I nodded, my mouth stuffed with my strawberry bar. He kissed the side of my temple. "So how many packs are going to fight?" He asked. I told him; he nodded at my answer.
We sat there in silence for a minute before I just let myself fall back on the bed, my arms spread out with a heavy sigh. I closed my eyes as I felt the bed dip as Mason laid back as well. His hand brushed mine before he gently picked it up and laced our fingers together.
I felt the corners of my mouth tilt up in a small smile as I drifted off to sleep. I was so tired. This was a lot of work, but I had to do it. I was the savior, so I needed to lead this war and save my kind, my family, my friends...my pack.
