I opened the window to my bedroom and backed up to the wall. My back hit the wall, and I took a deep breath before I ran as fast as I could towards the window. I leapt out, shifting into my grey and white wolf while in the air.

As soon as my paws hit the ground, I took off like a bullet over the land. The wind whipped through my fur wildly, I felt the soft grass of the land beneath my paws, and I felt free.

I heard a bark behind me. I looked over my shoulder to see a husky running after me with her tongue hanging out of her mouth in happiness. I gave her a goofy wolf grin before I sped up. Rosie barked and sped up as well. The two of us raced across the flat plains of my parents' land that were surrounded by forests on all sides.

We ran for what seemed like hours (which they probably were), feeling the sun beat down on us as well as the wind whipping through our fur.

Finally, hours later, Rosie and I made our way back to the house. As we got closer, I shifted back into my human form. I still had my clothes in perfect shape, unlike the human myths, even after I shifted back and forth between my human and wolf form. I don't know how it works. I guess it's just part of the magic.

Rosie, my pet husky (yet she seemed to be more like a friend since I didn't have any other friends in my life), followed me into the house. I pulled open the screen door and then the front door and walked in.

My mom was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and my dad was in the living room watching television. "There you are, Samantha." My mother smiled at me as she continued to cook as soon as I walked in.

"Hey, mom," I greeted her.

"How about you come help me cook dinner?" She asked. I nodded and went over to help my mom finish cooking dinner. She was making one of my favorite dishes, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo.

I set the table as my mom started to serve her, me, and my dad. My dad had turned off the TV and had come over to join us for dinner at the kitchen table. I sat down with my parents, my mom on my left and my dad on my right in a circle. We joined hands and bowed our heads as my dad spoke, "Dear Moon Goddess, thank you for blessing my family with food, shelter, and a beautiful life. We are grateful for everything we have and always will. Thank you."

Finally, we dug in. Rosie whined, and I laughed while tossing her a piece of chicken, which she jumped into the air to grab. My mom and dad laughed as well.

Once we were finished, I called Rosie upstairs with me to get ready for the night while my parents watched television. I took a quick shower, got dressed in my pajamas, and brushed my teeth and hair.

Finally, with a sigh, I dropped down onto my bed and called Rosie up with me. Rosie yipped happily before she jumped up and settled down at the foot of my bed. I smiled while running my hand over her smooth fur before I settled into my bed, pulling my white, blue, and light grey sheets over me.

I had a nice life. I lived with my parents and Rosie on their huge piece of grassy land. But I also had never had human contact in my life. There was no point. I had never left our land. Why should a werewolf have to leave? At least, that's what my parents said.

They went out sometimes, left the land to get things we needed, but I never went with them. Not once. I kind of think my parents are just protective of me.

But anyways, my family is different than most werewolves. We don't have a pack. My parents left their pack a long time ago apparently. They didn't like to talk about it. Heck, they barely told me anything, except that they used to be in a pack but left to live on their own! I have always wondered what had happened to them, but I bet I never would find out. Who would tell me? Only my parents and my husky, Rosie, lived with me and were the only ones I ever saw!

Now onto Rosie. She's a two year old husky that we found when she was only two months old, a wandering stray pup in the woods. We immediately took her in, and she became my best friend. I had no other friends since no one else was here, and she seemed to understand me better than anyone else.

Also, even though my family lived without a pack, there were still plenty of werewolf packs that lived in the woods that surrounded the land my parents' owned. They stayed away. They wouldn't bother us. Why should they have reason to? We were just a family of werewolves that lived without a pack, loners.

Even though my life was different, both because I was a werewolf and because I didn't live in a pack, I still loved it. There was so much I loved in my life. If only I had known what would happen to me in the weeks to come.
