"Hey, Sammie," a voice whispered in my ear. I moaned and rolled over in the bed, covering my head with my pillow. A low chuckle sounded above me before the pillow was removed. "Aww, come on, sleepy head. It's time to get up."
"Mason," I groaned. Mason chuckled again and leaned down to kiss my check. The bed shifted as Mason got out of the bed and went to the closet to change. I slowly sat up sleepily and watched Mason move across the room. He glanced at me and tried to cover his mouth with his hand to hold in his laughter. "What's so funny?" I asked.
He couldn't hold it in any longer. He let out a big laugh and pointed at me. "Sweetie, you kind of have a little bit of bedhead."
I scowled at him and threw a pillow at his head that he ducked from. He continued to laugh as he changed. I fell back on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
It had been almost a month since the battle with the hybrids. We lost many werewolves in the fight; I lost two in particular that were close to me. Chris, my trainer, and...my dad. He had fought till the end, but he was still killed. Mom had been devastated, but we knew that he wouldn't have wanted us to live the rest of our lives in sorrow. And so we stayed strong and moved on. But I will always remember my dad, the man who I had looked up to ever since I was little and the one who was there for me for so many years.
All of the visiting packs went home after the fight. I was very much looked up to by many now because I lead the packs during the battle. Sometimes I still can't believe that I did that and that it's all over.
"Hello? Earth to Sammie, are you there?" I was startled out of my thoughts, and I sat up to look at Mason dressed in a grey t-shirt and jeans. "Are you going to get dressed?"
"Yeah," I replied as I started to get out of the bed. Mason held out his hand to help me up. I grabbed his hand, and he pulled me up into his chest. He lifted my chin slowly as our lips met. I pulled away. "Okay, I've got to get dressed."
I ran into the closet and put on a blue top, jean shorts, and a pair of black flip flops. Mason and I decided to start sharing a room shortly after the end of the battle. So I took my stuff from my room and moved up into his room on the Alpha's floor.
I went into the bathroom, and my eyes went wide as I stared at my hair. It was sticking out in every possible way; it looked like I had stuck my finger in an electric socket. I quickly brushed out the tangles until it no longer made me look like a hedgehog.
I heard the door open, and I looked up to see Mason leaving the room. "Wait up!" I called.
Mason stopped me and smiled. "Hold on; go on to breakfast without me. I'll be down in a little bit. I just have to go see my dad real quick."
I nodded in understanding and headed down the stairs. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a strawberry bar and a blueberry bar from the Nutrigrain box in the cabinet. I leaned against the counter as I undid the wrapper and ate my breakfast, waiting for Mason to come down.
Finally, he walked into the kitchen. I tossed the blueberry bar at him, which he easily caught. "Thanks."
"So...what do you want to do today?" I asked, but it was like Mason didn't hear me. He was completely spaced out and staring at the wall. "Mason?" I waved my hand in front of his face to get his attention.
Mason jumped and looked down at me with a sigh of relief. "Uh...sorry. Didn't mean to space out."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," he replied too quickly. I narrowed my eyes at him and went to stand in front of him with my hands on my hips. He refused to look me in the eyes as he looked anywhere else but at me.
"Mason," I growled. He couldn't not look at me after that growl. He stared down at me, trying to make his expression as natural as possible to hide whatever it was that he was hiding. "What is up? Tell me right now."
"I told you, it's nothing."
"Yeah, like I'm going to believe that," I replied harshly.
"Sammie, can you hang out with Ari and Alex today? I have some work I have to do," he replied nervously.
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Is that all you're worried about? You just didn't want to tell me that you had work, so we wouldn't be able to do anything today? You know I'm okay with that kind of stuff, Mason. I'll probably just go help the women with the children today. You go do your work," I waved him off.
He smiled. "Thanks, Sammie." He kissed my cheek before he headed out of the kitchen.
I sighed. I threw away my Nutrigrain bar wrapper and headed out the back door into the backyard where the children were playing and the women were standing on the side, watching them and talking.
I walked over to the children with a warm smile. Several noticed me real quick and ran over to me, grabbing onto my arms and legs while laughing happily.
I spent the day playing around with them, talking to the women, and helping them prepare lunch and dinner. After dinner, I headed back to Mason and I's bedroom. I changed into my pajamas before slipping into bed. I grabbed the remote off of the nightstand to watch some tv until Mason came back to the room from work. I flipped through the channels before I stopped on a movie marathon.
The door to the bedroom didn't open until almost midnight when Mason came back into the room, seeming slightly exhausted. "Hey," I greeted.
Mason yawned, "What are you still doing up?" He went into the closet to change into a pair of loose sweatpants and no shirt.
"I was waiting for you," I replied.
"Oh, Sammie, you shouldn't have done that. You need your rest," he said like he was slightly concerned.
"Will you stop it? You need your rest, too, but you had to work, so how am I supposed to sleep knowing that?" I asked, getting slightly irritated. Maybe I was a little tired. And cranky.
"I'm sorry, but I had to do it. But you have me for the rest of the night. I promise," he said as he came to get into the bed. He leaned over to kiss my cheek before he pulled the sheets over his legs.
"Great, I have you for the time that we sleep. That's absolutely wonderful, Mason," I said sarcastically.
He frowned at me. "Are you upset that we didn't get to spend anytime together today?"
I growled. "No, I'm not upset about that! I just don't like how you're acting right now!"
Mason sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Look, I'm sorry. I'm just a little worried and stressed out right now."
I looked at him confused. "About what?"
"Just some stuff," he replied simply.
I narrowed my eyes at him again. "See, this is what makes me upset." I sat up on my knees and placed my hands on his lap. "Mason...I want to help. I love you, and I'm always here for you. But if you don't trust me enough to tell me about what is bothering you, I can't help you."
He shook his head. "It's nothing like that, Sammie. I do trust you." I scowled at him. "Okay, okay, let's make a deal. You leave me alone about this until tomorrow night when we come back here. Then you can ask me, and I promise I'll tell you. Okay?" I thought about it for a moment, but I knew it was going to be the best I could get out of him.
"Fine." Mason smiled and leaned in to kiss. I laid back down on the bed with him as he pulled me closer. I played around with his hair as he kissed me before we pulled back. Mason turned off the tv while I snuggled into him, tracing circles on his chest. He wrapped his arms around me, and finally, sleep took us both.

Hey, you guys! Second chapter of the day! Again, let's see if I can make it three! I'm so excited, we're getting so close to the end!! So, I have a question for you guys, and I will ask it again in the next chapter, but what do you guys think about a sequel? And if there were to be one, what would you like it to be about? The epilogue will most likely portray the beginning of the sequel if there were to be one, so I need to figure out if there is going to be one to be able to write the epilogue. Okay, well, have fun, you guys! Vote and comment! :)
