I clenched my teeth together at the pain that was spreading throughout my left leg. The hybrid had bit my leg, but unlike my arm bite, this one was much more savage with the purpose to injure me and cause me a lot of pain instead of just biting me to get the venom in my bloodstream to change me.
My leg wound was horrifying. It was so bad that I couldn't even stand up anymore. Thankfully, as soon as Violet had seen my wound, she had torn off a bottom strip of her shirt for me to wrap my leg up. She was very kind and smart for such a young girl, but it seemed she was the apprentice of the pack doctor, so that was helpful.
Veronica and Sebastian had finally stopped interrogating me since I told them the truth a few days ago. They tried to starve me, but Violet always snuck me a tiny amount of her food through the metal bars to me. I refused to take much more than a few pieces of broccoli or baby carrots. She needed to eat, too, and she deserved to live more than I did. Even if I only got a little bit of food, it was enough to keep me alive.
It was hard to believe, but it had been a week since I had left the pack. It felt like it had been months since I'd been outside, since I'd seen my family, since I'd been home...
"Sammie?" Violet's sweet, little voice shook me from my thoughts. I looked up at the little girl with a small smile. She smiled back and threw a few small objects through the bars of the window. "Here."
"Thank you, Violet," I whispered, reaching for the few pieces of cauliflower. Violet went back into her cell to eat, and I ate my little meal. Finally, when I finished, I leaned my head against the wall and fell asleep.

"Samantha. Samantha, wake up," an old, raspy voice sounded in my ear as something shook me.
My eyes fluttered open slowly. I sat up from my place on the floor as my eyes tried to adjust to the bright light of the room. I froze. Wait, a second...I looked all around me, confusion and disbelief racing around my head. I was in an endless white room. There was no color whatsoever and I couldn't tell the walls from the ceiling or floor.
"Samantha." My head jerked to my right to see an old brown wolf standing next to me. I almost jumped back in surprise at her appearance.
"Elder Myanna?" I tilted my head to the side, blinking rapidly to make sure I was really seeing her.
"Samantha, this is no time for games. We don't have long now. So, listen to me." I stood up straighter, grimacing as my leg twitched. Elder Myanna glanced down at my injuries and shook her head. "Awful, but for now, there is nothing I can do about them, except this." Elder Myanna closed her eyes, and slowly, the pain diminished away to nothing. My mouth dropped open as I looked back and forth between my leg and arm to Elder Myanna. "It will only work while you're here, and it just gets rid of the pain. Now, we don't have a lot of time. We have to hurry."
I slowly got to my feet, a smile spreading across my face when no pain rushed through my body. "What's going on?" I asked, becoming serious.
"You have to get out of that place. I'm going to send you to Mason." She started to explain, but at the mention of Mason, I snapped.
"Sending me to Mason? How? What do you mean?" I started asking questions a mile a minute.
"Child, let me finish!" I closed my mouth immediately. Elder Myanna sighed and continued, "I'm able to connect your dreams. You two will be sharing dreams for a short time. You need to hurry. Talk to Mason and devise a plan. Don't tell him anything about me. Just tell him you are sharing a dream with him and devise the plan. That's it. Now, you must go." Elder Myanna turned around and began to run away.
