The morning light shone through the window beside my bed. I groaned sleepily as I rolled over onto my stomach. I buried my face in my pillow, but someone just wasn't going to let me sleep in any longer.

Rosie yipped and climbed over my back. Rosie whined before she tried to lick my face to wake me up. I moaned and pushed her away. But Rosie was persistent. Finally, she bunched up her legs and leapt up into the air. Rosie came crashing down on my back.

"Ow!" I screamed as Rosie leapt back to avoid the sudden wolf in the bed from biting her. I growled angrily at her. Rosie barked firmly at me. "Fine," I said through clenched teeth, "I'll get up."

Rosie yipped happily as I shifted back and got out of bed. I went over to my closet to change real fast into some shorts and a t-shirt. Next, I went to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Then we were out the door.

We raced down the stairs, and I headed for the kitchen as soon as we were down. I walked into the empty kitchen. Everyone probably already ate or were eating in the dining room.

First, I pulled out a silver dog bowl and a bag of dog food for Rosie, which she dug into immediately. Then I opened up a cabinet and pulled out a box of Nutrigrain bars. I grabbed a strawberry one, my favorite, and pulled myself up onto the counter. I leaned my head back against the cabinets as I stared at the ceiling and ate my Nutrigrain bar.

"I think the blueberry ones are better," a voice said, startling me. My head jerked up and before I could catch my balance, I slipped off of the counter. Mason caught me as I fell off. He chuckled, "Why do you fall so much?" I frowned at him, causing him to laugh. "Awww, come on, Sammie. Don't be like that."

I pushed myself out of his arms and turned away. "Sammie," Mason said softly, placing a hand on my shoulder. I nudged it off. "What's wrong? Is it because you think I'm calling you a klutz? Sammie, I was just-"

I cut him off, spinning around to face him with narrowed eyes. "Blueberry? Who the heck likes blueberry?! Strawberry is the all time best!"

Mason stood there, shocked, eyes wide, stiff as a stick. Finally, his face softened as a smirk grew on his face. "Strawberry? Pfft, yeah, right! Blueberry is the best Nutrigrain bar," he argued.

"Pfft!" I crossed my arms and turned away again, but I was immediately stopped as two strong arms wrapped around me. Suddenly, I was dying of laughter as Mason tickled my sides. I screamed and squirmed in his arms. Mason laughed as he continued to tickle me. "Mason stop! Please!" I screamed, tears building up in my eyes.

"Only if you admit blueberry is the best!" He yelled over my laughs and screams.

"Never!" I yelled back.

He laughed, "Then I won't stop." Mason wouldn't stop, and I was dying of this.

"Mason, you're going to kill me!" I screamed. "And then you'll have my father to deal with!" Mason faltered for a moment, but then he continued to tickle me as he whispered in my ear, "I'll take my chances."

I heard Rosie barking beside us, giving me an idea. I closed my eyes as tight as I could and forced myself to shift as I tried to hold in the laughter. "What the heck?!" Mason yelled as he staggered with a sudden wolf in his arms.

I growled and jumped out of his arms. I shifted back, arms crossed, smirk spread across my face. "Strawberry's the best." I flipped my brown hair over my shoulder.

Mason rolled his eyes. "Whatever." I smiled wickedly.

"Well, well, well, what are you two up to?" I turned to see a smiling Abigail enter the kitchen.

"Just arguing over which Nutrigrain bar flavor is the best," I explained.

"Yeah, sure," she smirked at us.

"Abigail..." Mason started with narrowed eyes. But suddenly he froze. Abigail went stiff as well and their eyes clouded, making me guess that they were using the pack link. Since I still wasn't truly part of the pack, I couldn't use the pack link like a regular pack member. I looked back and forth between them; I was about to ask what was wrong when I heard the yell. The yell for help.

I bolted out of the room, Mason and Abigail right behind me. Alpha Drake was already in the living room with my dad and Beta Brian. The front doors swung open as a woman darted in. Her hair was a disarray, her eyes red, tears streaming down her face, and her expression was one of fear. Alpha Drake took a step towards her. "Ava, what's wrong?"

"It's Violet," she cried out. She started to sob. "She's gone!" Ava started to break down as she cried.

Alpha Drake stepped forward to hold her shoulders so she wouldn't fall. "What happened, Ava?"

Ava lifted her teary eyes to Alpha Drake's brown eyes. "It's them," she whispered. I looked on confused as Alpha Drake looked at Brian and the others who had gathered around the scene.

Suddenly, a gruff bark sounded behind us. The crowd parted to let an old brown wolf lumber towards the three in the middle of the circle. Alpha Drake turned and gave a respectful nod to the wolf. "Elder Myanna." Everyone bowed their heads respectfully to the elder.

Elder Myanna looked up at Ava. "I understand your pain for the loss of your daughter." Ava hung her head sadly at her words. "However," the wolf turned around to face non other than me, "our savior is here."

All eyes turned on me, making me take an uncountable step back, but I just bumped into Mason who was standing right behind me. "Samantha Felman..." Elder Myanna's old, raspy, but wise voice whispered, "This is what you are meant to do. You are the one who will save us all."

Without realizing it, I was shaking my head as tears built up in my eyes. I was pushing against Mason's chest now, trying to get away from all of the stares and the elder wolf who was approaching me.

"I can't," I whispered. "I can't do it. I don't know how or what I'm supposed to do. I'm not a savior," I cried.

"This is who you are meant to be, child," Elder Myanna said.

I shook my head. "No...No, I can't. I just can't!" I shoved Mason enough to the side to let me squeeze past him. I shifted into my wolf, and with Rosie by my side, I raced out the open front doors of the pack house.

The tears flowed down my face as I heard several familiar voices calling my name as they ran after me: Mason, Abigail, my dad, and a few others. But I ignored them. I couldn't do it. I didn't even know what to do. I didn't care about whatever people said or what some prophecy said. I couldn't be the savior, the one werewolf that would save all of the werewolves of the world.

Suddenly, I felt the adrenaline building inside of me, pumping faster through my veins. I found a new burst of speed, making me seem like a blur in the woods. I had never run as fast as I did right then and there. Rosie began to fall behind as I flew away with the wind. She barked and yipped for me to slow down for her, but I wouldn't. I couldn't.

I continued to run, and eventually, there was no one left that was chasing after me.
