"So sing with me, hey hey, Ready!
Alive bungee jumping down the bridge,
Alive hitting 120 mph speed.
Alive people landing on the moon.
Alive, even if it's way to soon.
Alive when I drop out of school to write a hit.
Alive when my haters smell blood and I sell 2 millions in a week.
A-L-I-V-E,
Are you alive? So sing with me!"
The crowd jumped, while Taeyong was like a volcano, that moved along the scene, his rhymes got faster and Jae felt he's never really done, what he wanted to do. Was he alive, in the sense of living his own life, suddenly he realized how less he belonged here, so he checked his wallet finding enough money for the late night bus home.
One last glance at the colorful lights, the waves of hands moving to the beat and on the handsome man in black, who was pouring his heart out on stage, and Jae turned around leaving through the vip door.
He crossed an empty car park then found a bus stop at the corner. There was an older lady and a tired worker there, both talking about the weather, so Jae leaned against the bus sign. He took his earphones out scrolling through the songs in his phone. Suddenly Taeyong's music was too painful to listen to. His voice was like cutting glass, so Jae found a mp3 Taeil had recorded at a local studio for a song contest. Taeil's voice was healing, so beautiful, that all pain faded and Jae put in on listening to it on the bus stop, inside the bus, during the short walk to Doyoung's house, and even in the guest bedroom, when he crushed into the sheets, too broken to change into his pajamas.
The door crackled too loud and Jae slipped through it into the vocal classroom. Yuta and Ten nudged.
"Mr. Yungyo Jaehyun is late!" shouted Yuta and Jae stopped between the shelf with the smaller instruments and the piano.
"Late, what happened?" asked the teacher.
"The bus," whispered Jae hurrying to the place between Doyoung and Taeil.
He felt a glance on him, but he ignored it.
"What have you done? He looks like rain clouds with hail," whispered Doyoung.
"Nothing," Jae, who had no time to talk to his friend last night and slept in this morning, was suddenly super busy looking for the notes in his backpack.
"I would like to sing with Jaehyun today," Yuta raised his hand.
"Excellent. Jaehyun come up," the teacher looked at him and Jae trembled.
"Can I sing with Doyoung, Taeil, maybe?" he asked.
"No, you were late so you'll sing with Yuta," the teacher walked to the piano and Yuta smiled bright.
Jae had his head down, when he stopped in the middle of the class browsing through the songs.
"We will sing 'Yesterday' by The Beatles," said Yuta while Jae opened his mouth to protest, but the teacher stopped him.
Ten and the cool clique giggled loud, while Doyoung shook his head.
"Ok boys, let's start," said the teacher hitting the first note.
"You'll take the chorus," muttered Yuta before he sang the first line.
Jae felt he's getting sick. The microphone was so sweaty in his hand he nearly dropped it on the floor and soon Yuta stopped singing, the whole class turning their attention to Jae.
