As soon as Hodge walked away, Alec continues with his arrows. I change my outfit from this anti-warmth clothes into something else.

"Where are you going?" Alec asked, his eyes were still on his arrows.

"Changing," I said, walking towards Izzy's room.

"Your room is not that way,"

I ignored Alec and opened Izzy's closet full of clothes, hm.. If only my clothes were here. I took a bomber jacket, a crop top, and black skinny jeans.

I looked at myself in the mirror before spinning myself around, then smirking at the end

I looked at myself in the mirror before spinning myself around, then smirking at the end. I looked at the mirror and saw Alec leaning against the door pane.

"You could've just knock," I said, fixing my hair. "Damn I look good." I complimented myself and I heard him snorted. "Rude." I said as he enters the room. Then, I heard my phone ringing. I grabbed my phone and saw that my mom was calling.

"Hey mom-"

"Valerie are you at the institute? With the others?" She cuts me off, she sounded like she was in a rush.

"Uh yeah, I'm actually with Alec right now." I said and Alec flicked his eyes to mine.

"Valerie listen to me, alright? They found you, and they will want answers from me. It's not safe anymore sweetheart, I'm doing this to protect you."

"Doing what? Mom are you alright? Are you home? I'm going there-"

"No, don't come home you hear me? You don't come home."

I heard a loud bang and I had my lips parted.

"This will be the last time you will be contacting me. Stay with your friends, stay with Clary." Then, another loud noise was heard.

"Mom stop you're scaring the hell out of me-"

"Remember that I've always love you, Valerie. I'm always with you, my little princess." And with that, she ended the call.

"Mom? Mom! Mom answer me!" I said through the phone, I looked at the phone screen and the call was ended by her. I stood there with my mouth wide opened, not believing what just happened.

Then, I grabbed my bag and started to put some stuff in it.

"Where are you going?" Alec asked, watching every moves that I make.

"Home." I said in a rush.

"No, I won't allow you. You can't leave the institute without some approval, oh actually cross that. We've never got an approval on the mission we're currently in. You can't double the trouble." He said sternly, standing in front of me.

"Oh fuck approvals Alec, it's either ride or die." I said, as I grab my bag. "Alec, my mom needs me. I think she's in danger." I looked at him.

"Clary's gonna be up in my ass." He crossed his hands together.

"Why can't we just use a more secretive way to enter the house? The whole Shadow World is looking for you." Alec said and I groaned.

"It literally never stops talking." I said as I took out my keys and insert it in. "And this is a house, not some sort of lair in a James Bond movie-" I stopped talking as I saw the scenery inside my house.

"What in the hell happened here?.." Alec said as he entered the house. We both looked around and everything was completely ruined. I darted my eyes to the stairs, leading me to my mom's room. "Val wait!" Alec said as I ran through the stairs.

I opened the door to my mom's room and I covered my mouth as I saw a demon laying on the floor, I was confused I thought they disappears into thin air?

I ignored that and then I scanned the room. My eyes met her desk that she usually works on and then I tried to find any type of information for her disappearance. I found a box that has a V on it, resembling my name. I tried to open it, but I couldn't.

I sat down on the bed and just admire the small box. I felt like I've seen it before, but where?

A growl was heard as I turned my head, the demon was still awake. I gasped and used my foot to push my body to the other side of the bed.

"Shit." I mumbled, it growled and was about to hit me but an arrow darted itself on the demon's eye. It growled even louder and more arrows were darting at it before it gets killed.

I looked at the demon before looking at the hazel eyed boy.

"Didn't I say, wait?" He asked and I rolled my eyes at him. He lent me his hand and I accept it. "What's that?"

"I don't know, actually. I found this on the desk." I said while looking at the old ancient looking box.

"We came all the way here just to get a goddamn box?" He asked while looking at the wooden box. "Not to mention, you almost got hurt, God only knows what Jace, Izzy, and especially Clary, would do to me."

"And Simon," I said.

"And the mundane," He said. A few moments later, I remembered that I was planning on telling him about the rune that Hodge had on his right wrist.

I looked around and there was nothing left here that could represents my mom. I then went over to my room next door. I went inside and surprisingly, everything seemed to be fine. My room wasn't a mess like my mom's, and the house.

"Is this your room?" Alec asked.

"Yeah." I said, looking at my perfectly fine room. I looked around and I found a picture of me, my mom, my dad, and a Ethan. I then felt tears forming. "My mom is gone." I sniffed. "Clary and I, our moms.. They're gone! What could possibly be the reason?"

"Look, we'll figure this out-"

"No! Alec! My mom, my dad, my friend, they're dead, everyone is dead-"

"You don't know that!" He insisted and I stopped to look at him. "Don't say things you'll regret. Now C'mon, we should get going."
