14: You're a bad liar, Val

I saw no Clary in the room. So, I decided to go to her room. There, I find her in a black dress. "Damn, now I get why Jace's after you." I said while clapping as I enter her room.

"Look at you, Valerie." She said and I laughed. "I can say the same to you about Alec." She said and I looked away, trying to hide my smile. "I know that look," She said while smirking. "Holy shit. Something happened right?" She walked up to me and I looked at her plainly.

"You're a bad liar, Val."

"Nothing happened, I swear to Raziel." I said and she raised her brow. "Clary seriously." I said and the smirk was still there on her face. "Clary! Stop!" I said and she laughed.

We both made our way to the main room, our laugh stopped when we heard Alec was ranting about Clary to Izzy.

We stopped walking and listened to his words.

"Interesting? Valentine is alive and actively seeking the Cup.
He threatens our entire world.
And we're helping his daughter.
Who, by the way, we have no reason to trust. And who showed up out of nowhere." He said and I felt anger boiling up inside of me. I was going to walk up to him, but Clary stopped me.

"On top of that, we're gonna end up overpaying some warlock who may or may not have information we need. So, no, Izzy I don't find it interesting." He added. I furrowed my brows and looked at Clary who was shaking her head.

I ignored her and just casually walked up to Alec and Izzy. Izzy widened her eyes as she saw me here, same goes for Alec. "Val-"

"Actually, I do find it interesting that your hatred towards Clary has no end. And I am fully aware that she is Valentine's daughter, but she's my best friend. And I have made a promise that I'll protect her no matter what. So, if you are against Clary, you will have to be the same towards me." I said, Alec was looking at me speechlessly. Izzy seemed to be on my side. I then make my way towards Jace who was in front of the computer screen.

"Do you think red's my color?" Izzy asked as she adjusts the necklace.

"Iz, with a body like yours, everything's your color." I said and Clary nodded her head.

"Good point. Damn, I make this necklace look so good." She said proudly.

"Will you take it off? I'm certain Magnus Bane doesn't want drool on his ruby when we make the exchange." Alec interrupted, I rolled my eyes and he seemed to notice.

"You know, I wouldn't be so sure.
Most men like it when I admire their jewels."

"Can you just give it to Jace?" He said.

"You're such a buzzkill." Izzy rolled her eyes as she gave the necklace to Jace. As we all went in, I felt someone grabbing my arm. I turned around and find out that it was Alec.

I sighed as soon as I found out it was him. He dragged me into the corner. I crossed my arms as he looked at me in the eye. "It's about earlier, I'm sorry-"

"I'm not the one who you should be apologizing to, but Clary." I said and looked away from his gaze.

"I know, and I will. Soon, maybe-" He said and I smacked his shoulder, which makes him chuckled. I looked away again but I can't help but smile. "Are we cool now or.."

"I've never said us being cool," I said and he sighed.

"Geez," He said. "Someone's being feisty." He said and I glared at him. "I've never said it's a bad thing." He added and I rolled my eyes at him.

"So, we're cool right." He asked once more and I sighed before nodding my head. "Good, cause you're scary when you're upset."

"Valentine is hunting you, too.
And every moment we're outside my lair's protection, is a moment Valentine gets closer to finding us.
Come with me. I won't offer again."

"No way in hell she's coming with you." I said as I entered the rave. This Magnus Bane guy looked at me, confusingly. He then walked towards me with his eyes widened.

"You.." He said, eyes still on mine. "Valerie.. You've grown into a beautiful woman, just like your mother." He said and I raised my brows.

"You know me?.." I asked, tilting my head slightly.

"Why yes, I knew Jocelyn and your mother, Angela." He said. Hm.. There was something in the way he speaks, I think I've heard it before.

Wait, was he the one I'm hearing in my head?

"Wait.. I-I think I've heard your voice before.." I said and he had his eyes widened. He then decided to go through the purple portal.

"Magnus, wait! - You're my only hope." Clary ran up to him but was too late. I walked up to Clary and stood next to her.

"Where did he go?" I asked, I was getting suspicious on why he ran away. Then, there was a man in front of me, but he was shot by an arrow.

"Valentine, he found us." Jace said. "We gotta go, It's not safe here." He grabbed Clary's hand and we all followed Jace to the exit.

Jace and Alec decided to do a Parabatai tracking, Izzy said their power grows stronger when they Parabatai track. "Got him." Jace said with a smirk.
