"What?" I looked at the boy who looked like he was in a panic. "What did you do?" I lowered down my head slightly after reading his face.

"Not me, technically."

We were in the middle of a busy sidewalk, hoping that we could find Clary. But then I thought, that girl has a bright carrot hair it wouldn't be much of a problem finding her.

Alec and I were on a glamour, so people- or Alec likes to call it mundanes, couldn't see us.

"Now where do we exactly find her?" Alec asked as we walk down the sideway.

"The real question is how the hell did she run away?" I asked and he sighed.

"Can we please stick to our mission-"

"It's not a mission, it's simply a situation where we have to find my half sister,"

"So a mission." He smirked and I rolled my eyes at him. Then, we heard a phone ringing, it was the girl with the carrot hair, Clary.

Before walking up to Clary suddenly the letter that Valentine have written for me pops up. Me
being a heir to all of his sickness, power, money.

Suddenly, that took away my mood instantly.

"What's the point of an invisibility rune if you don't silence your phone?" Alec stood behind her.

"You heard him," I said and she gave me a 'really' look.

"You're with him?" She asked and I crossed my hands together.

"I'm with nobody, just stating the fact." I said bluntly, and she raised her brow at me. "What?"

"You, what," She said. "Geez, you good? You're starting to sound like Alec, you two should stop hanging out."

"We should be heading to the loft," I said before walking. I don't think I could tell them about what Valentine have written for me. Knowing that I'm technically his replacement, I will get and takeover everything that he has.

"Alright," Simon said. Then, Simon took us to our secret shortcut. "You might know the Shadow World, but trust me I know Brooklyn." Simon said and Alec rolled his eyes at him.

Simon climbed over the fire escapes, and to be honest that was pretty slick. Since when is he like this?

"Have you been doing parkour or something? You've gotten a lot better at this." Clary asked Simon, feeling impressed.

"I was just gonna say the same thing about you." I said, raising my brow. I was a bit suspicious, but I let that aside.

"Climbing a fire escape excites mundanes. I'll never understand these people." Alec said and Simon glared at him.

Then, we met a wall that was covered in runes. And for some reason, Simon was able to see them. That was weird.

"This is from when Simon and I were engaged to be married." Clary said, putting her hand on the craved wall, that her and Simon's name.

"You were engaged? I'm almost certain I don't wanna hear this story." Alec said, sounding not interested.

"We were eight years old." Simon sighed.

I walked towards the wall and noticed a heart shaped drawing and names in it.

"Ethan + Valerie."

"I see you're looking at it Valz," Simon said, before shooting me a smirk.

"I'm not," I said, looking away. I pushed the memory of Ethan and I away.

"Ah.. Still sensitive over the dude I see," He said, he was seemingly very enjoying this. "God knows where he went that night-"

"Simon." Clary warned him and I rolled my eyes at him. Clary tried to open the door but couldn't. "Shit," She cursed.

"Let me try," Simon said and I rolled my eyes at him. I was trying to hide my smile because this has happened multiple times, him trying to be the hero yet failing eventually. Alec seemed to think the same as I did, he was looking at Simon with that 'really' look on his face.

But surprise surprise, Simon banged the hell out of the door and the door bursts opened. I had my mouth parted and eyes widened a bit, Alec had his brows furrowed.

"After you," Simon said to Clary. They both went in while Alec and I were still standing there, with disbeliefs on our faces.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" I asked Alec, my eyes were still looking at the door that Simon had technically broke.

"He's not a mundane, anymore." He said.
