3rd POV

Valerie was placed on her bed in her room. Clary was watching over her sister. Clary always thinks that Valerie has always been her sister from another mother, but she'd never knew that phrase that they've been saying, was actually true.

Valerie had been unconscious for a fairly long time which makes Clary worried. According to Magnus, the healing process for Valerie may take up some time.

Finally, Valerie's eyes started to move slowly. Her fingers curled up. "C-Clary?.. Where are-"

"We're back, at the institute." Clary said, while holding to her sister's hand. She was relieved that Valerie was alright.

"What happened?.." Valerie asked.

"Well, long story short, you were held captive by Valak, but I ended up slaying that bitch." Clary said in which made Valerie laughed.

"How about your memory?"

"I.. I'm never getting them back, since I killed the demon." Clary said and Valerie sighed. "How are you feeling?" Clary asked.

"Pretty fucked up," Valerie said. "But, I'm alright. At least for now."

Although, deep inside she was still couldn't bear with Valentine being her father. She hated the man for wanting to hurt her friends, and also from trying to take her away from her mother, Angela.

She replayed the voices that she heard while she was captured by the demon, the voices were crystal clear. She's yet to find out about the secret quest that she was supposed to do that was missioned by her father, Valentine.

"So.." She started which grabbed my attention. "Ethan?" And I looked away.

"He's not coming back." I said.

Moments after that, both Clary and Valerie heard a knock on the door. They turned their gazes to the raven haired boy who was standing by the door with his eyes on the fellow Morgenstern.

"Hey um, can I talk to Valerie?" He asked Clary. Clary nodded her head at the boy before tapping Valerie's hand.

"I'll be in my room if you need me." Clary earned a nod from
Valerie.

Alec waited for Clary to leave the room, and once she did he walked up to Valerie who was laying on her bed.

"Hey," Alec started off and Valerie gave him a small smile. Alec didn't know how to say what he wanted to say to her. "How are you feeling?.." He asked her and she nodded her head.

"Not a hundred percent healed but, I'm alright. What's up?" Valerie said in which she regrets right away. Of course he could see that she was lying, she thought.

"I just wanted to make sure that you're okay," He said truthfully and Valerie seemed to be happy about that. Valerie gave him a smile, in which he returned. "Because," He sat down on the edge of her bed before grabbing her cold hand, warming it. "I don't know what I'd do if I ever lose you." The boy said and that soothes Valerie.

Valerie puts her hand on top of his, while looking at the pair of hazel eyes. "I'm not going anywhere." She promises him and then planted a soft kiss on his cheek, in which he was quite surprised of. "Thank you, Alec." She added.

The Shadowhunters were training in the training room, and as usual, Valerie was training her fencing skills but with a seraph blade. Clary had challenged her into a duel and Valerie accepted it gladly.

"Ooh! Sister versus sister!" Izzy clapped her hands together.

Valerie was already in her position, Clary was too. Their blades made sounds as the come in contact, the two sisters battle out while laughing and smiling.

Once they come in contact for defense, Clary tried so hard to push the weight that Valerie had put. But, Valerie didn't want the battle to end quick so she decided to tumble to the back, she uses her foot to take Clary's blade off her hand and caught it in the air as she stood still.

"Impressive, as usual." Clary said and Valerie grinned.

"You've gotten better at this. I'm impressed." Valerie said. As they were about to have another duel, they realized that them and Izzy weren't the only ones in the room.

"Dressed to impress, I see." A woman said to Izzy, it was her mother, Maryse. "And you've been playing with the family heirlooms." Maryse darted her eyes at the necklace that Izzy was wearing.

"Hi, I'm Clary Fray." Clary said, walking up to Maryse with a smile.

"Clary Fairchild. You look just like your mother. We know all about you in Idris." Maryse said and Clary seemed to be lost.

"Idris?" Clary asked and then Valerie decided to stand next to her sister.

"The Shadowhunter homeland.
If you think the Institute is well-hidden, wait until you see that place." Izzy explained to the two sisters.

Then, Maryse eyes flicked towards Valerie. Maryse was watching Valerie's every moves when she had the little duel with Clary in the training room, and she seemed to be impressed by her skills.

"And you must be Valerie Morgenstern." Maryse said and that caught Valerie's attention by seconds.

"H-how did you know?.." Valerie seemed to lost at words towards the intimidating woman.

"Words spread, ever since Clary Fairchild killed the demon, Valak. And you were the reason why Clary made the choice." Maryse said and Valerie didn't know what to answer, so she just pursed her lips together.
