Onwards we flew, at an ever increasing pace. A circle in the clouds had broken out and followed us through the storm, protecting us as lady Palutena had said. The closer we got to the mountain, the more lightning struck around us and it soon reached a point where the ground was almost completely burnt up from being struck so much. We reached the foot of the mountain and so Pit began to ascend, passing through the first layer of clouds as we went. A second layer of even darker clouds lurked above the first, which struck less often, but with more power to each bolt. One bolt came directly at me, but lost all energy as soon as it hit the light that surrounded us. Pit slowed down and dropped Owain and I onto a wide ledge before landing beside us.
"Ready for action lads?" Pit said, bow in hand. We ran up to the peak of the mountain, which looked as if it had once been built upon as it was flat and some structures looked neat and man made. The League Army troops that I remembered from Midgar were there. Large dog-like pokemon that breathed fire, colossal purple beasts about eight feet each which used their bulky arms and legs to break the ground and bring rock pillars from it, and dragons that I remembered to be strong enough to wipe out a house with a swipe of a tail. But something I had not seen before was the majesty of Zapdos. Even in a distressed and irate mood the creature still managed to radiate a feeling of importance and power.
"Arcainines, Nidokings, and Dragonites. Typical of League Army. I'll have to pull off a water spell for anything to take effect, but it won't stop the dragonites. Take those down you two!" Owain said as he took out his book and began uttering enchantments. Time for me to take my revenge.
One dragonite looked towards me in contempt, and I knew I'd have to slay it. I ran, jumped, and spun in the air with my sword drawn as my method of attack. With little resistance my buster sword sliced deep gashes in the dragonite's neck and it fell to the ground.
HOOOOOOO! A distressed Zapdos came hurtling towards me and before I knew it I was on the ground with talons placed around my body. I stared into the eyes of the creature, and when it looked back all I saw was hatred and fear. Zapdos wanted me dead.
