Ignoring Wario's lame pun, we tended to the wounds in Articuno's wings. Wario sat by her head, soothing her as Pit removed the arrows embedded in them and Owain did his best to ease her pain. Meanwhile, I spoke to the young Link.
"where did you get weapons at your age?" I asked the child
"well," he began "this bow I found somewhere in woodfall quite recently, a place south of Clock Town. But this sword I've had for ages! Princess Zelda gave it to me in Hyrule before I got on my horse and... Came here... Come to think of it, I was an adult then too..." the child went silent thinking about his life before Termina, brandishing a miniature version of the Master sword.
"Link, I believe that you are dead. You were king of Hyrule and married to Princess Zelda with a child. You died in that horse riding accident, Link!" I said to him, expecting a revelation.
"No! I'm not dead! I WON'T ACCEPT THIS!"
Link ran away from us further into Snowhead, and Pit stopped me from heading after him.
"When people deal with grief, they transfer through five phases. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and finally acceptance. I think he's only between the first two. He'll come to realise he's dead soon enough." he said with his hand on my chest. Articuno got to her feet, shaken but sound. Zapdos stood beside her, sturdy as ever.
We all turned to Samus who had started to thaw out.
"This is going to take hours to melt!" Owain whined with a tut.
"not if I have anything to do with it, I have a plan." said Wario, producing a bottle of some strong spirit from his back pocket. After taking a hefty swig, he poured the rest of the contents over the ice around Samus. He dragged the tip of my buster sword to the base of this structure, and then struck it with a flint to create a spark. Rather explosively the ice was set ablaze, and began melting at a very fast pace for a few seconds before the alcohol was all burnt.
"That was all I had! How was it not enough? I only drunk half a litre of it!" Wario yelled.
"Screw waiting any longer, my turn to get her out." I said. I raised my buster sword aloft and sent it crashing down, splitting the ice in two just to Samus's left. I repeated this for the right and behind her. She began to groan and make small movements.
