You stepped nervously back into the building where you had almost lost your life. It still smelled of smoke, the scent hung faintly in the air. Luckily, it was nowhere near as thick as it was.

When it was surrounding you.

Choking you.

Clouding your vision...

"Hey," Jared said softly next to your ear. You jumped noticeably. "It'll be okay."

He outstretched a hand to you, and you took it gladly. You two wandered, trying to think of anything but the flames. You tried to ignore the burning sensation that danced it's way to every place you had been injured on that fateful night.

You shivered and stepped closer to Jared.

"I don't like it here, anymore. I just don't feel safe," you whispered.

"Hey, hey, hey." Jared stepped in front of you. "We'll get through this. They redid all the wiring so that it's up to date. The props have been checked, and double checked. The structure of the building is sound now, it wouldn't topple even if an earthquake hit. The windows are reinforced. Heck, there are even more exits now."

You blinked back tears and nodded slowly, trying to loose eye contact. "And besides, I will always come back for you. Always."

Jared pressed a kiss to your forehead.

"What do we do?" you asked.

"Same as we always do," Jared shrugged. "We get up, go to work, act like nothing has happened but never forget, then go home. Each day the process will start over again until it doesn't hurt anymore. But, if you need to talk about it- get some weight off your chest and clear your mind- you can come to me."

"Okay. You can come to me, too."

"I love you."

You smiled, "I know." You stood on your tip-toes and gave him a long kiss, regretfully pulling away after. "I have to go to makeup."

"You don't need makeup to look pretty."

"You smooth motherfucker," you chuckled. "You look pretty without makeup, too."

Jared smiled and you walked away, trying to put a little swagger to your step.

You stood on your mark, the déjà vu running through your veins. Jared held a match in his hands, he was shaking slightly. Though it looked good for the part he was playing at the moment, you knew the nerves were real. He pretended to light it, but you both saw flames. You both saw the smoke and the fire crawling up the walls.

Jared dropped the match and stumbled backwards, his breaths coming heavy. Your thoughts accelerated inside your head, you wanted them to slow so you could breathe, but they didn't. You gasped and fell to your knees. You could feel your heart hammering against your chest.

Robert yelled cut, but you didn't hear it. You were trying to focus on calming Jared down and yourself. You faintly heard Misha and Jensen exclaim something. They had been watching you two film your scene, standing for moral support.

"Hey," Misha said, tugging your arm and forcing you to look at him. Your eyes strayed back to Jared. Misha and Jensen shared a look, then nodded. "Look at me, Y/n."

You looked back at Misha with wide eyes. You felt sick, your breathing was out of control. "Match your breathing to mine," Misha whispered.

Then calmly, he inhaled. You closed your mouth and tried to copy him, but you were shaking too badly. You watched as Misha exhaled, then inhaled again.

Slowly, you felt your body relaxing. Your muscles soothed as the adrenaline left. Your breathing became more complete and your mind started clearing. Your friend extended a hand and helped you to your feet.

"It's okay, it's all going to be okay." Misha gave your shoulder a squeeze, then let you go to Jared. You both embraced and held each other closely.

"Do you want to try the scene again?" he mumbled to your ear.

"Are you up for it?"

"It's part of the healing process," he sighed. "Are you?"

"No, but we can get through this."

You found yourself back on your mark, despite the protests from Robert saying that you two could take a break.

"Step out of the flames, Elena," Jared said, eyes narrowing as he captured his role of Sam.

A tear fell past your cheek and splash to the floor beneath you. "W-what?"

The cameras were moving again, Misha and Jensen were giving you thumbs up behind them.

"Just do it," Jared snapped.

You swallowed nervously and took a step forwards, only to stop abruptly. You felt your lips stretch to a grin as you started laughing. You wiped away the remains of the tear, then flicked it away from your finger as if it were nothing.

"I can't believe I fooled you for this long!"

You and Jared ran through your lines perfectly. It was almost as if you haven't missed more than three months of filming... Once the last line was delivered and Robert yelled cut, you stepped off the set. This time you were greeted with smiles and cheers, instead of screams and smoke.

"We did it," you said to Jared.

"Yes, we did. I'm proud of you." Your boyfriend reached over and grabbed your hand.

"And I, you. I love you."

"Love you too."
