The silence in the bunker was deafening. Sam and Dean were out on a hunt that they didn't need your help with, apparently. You had nothing better to do than start reading some of the old Men of Letters books and make more salt rounds for your next hunt. Whether you got to go on another hunt or not.
You and Sam had been trying for a baby. After having been married for around three years, you figured now was a better time than never. After all, children were always a dream of yours.
Every test result that you took came back negative. It had been months, and still nothing. Deep down, you thought that it was your fault. Maybe you were incapable of having a baby...
Sighing, you sat down at a table. You were a hunter. It probably just wasn't meant to be. But you had hope. Perhaps one more try...
The test was sitting on the counter of the bathroom sink. Tests, more accurately. You always took two, just in case. You would have to wait two-three minutes until they were done.
Your hopes of it being positive were high even if the chances were low. You hadn't missed your period-- that was supposed to come in a few days; there was no morning sickness yet, but that being said, morning sickness doesn't always come right after one gets pregnant; Gabriel hadn't descended from the heavens to announce your child; and Castiel had visited about a week ago and didn't say anything then.
The alarm on your phone went off. You dashed to the bathroom, grasping at the closest stick. You deciphered the lines on it.
Two pink, vertical lines. Positive.
The breath caught in your throat and you mouthed the word, 'what?' In a state of shock, you dropped the test and grabbed the next, just to see if it was the same.
Positive.
You couldn't believe it. With your back to the wall, you slid down slowly until you were sitting on the floor. You sat back and let the happiness soak right into your bones. You closed your eyes and savored the moment, but never released your grip on the test in your hands. You patiently waited for your husband to return.
One day later, while mindlessly leafing through a book, you heard two familiar voices drift through the halls.
"Y/n?!" Sam shouted. You suppressed a grin as you stepped into the hallway to greet the two brothers.
"Sam, Dean." You smiled, pulling Dean into a hug. You stepped over to Sam, pushing yourself up to your tip-toes to give him a kiss. "Welcome home," you said sweetly.
Dean continued walking back to his room. Making a point to ignore your exchange of sweet nothings with your husband.
The greeting ended shortly and you grabbed Sam's hand. "Do you mind a talk in our room?"
Sam frowned. "Yeah, is everything okay?"
"Yeah- Yeah. It's fine." You wander back to your shared room and you sit Sam down on the bed. He looked up at you quizzically and slightly worried. His eyebrows knitted together, lips sealed, and one hand still grasping yours. You sat down beside him and turned to face him.
"Sam, there's something I need to tell you."
"Is something wrong?" he asked, after a flicker of fear passed through his eyes.
You smiled. "No- No, of course not!" Sam let out a breath of relief.
"Then, what is it?"
"Sammy, I'm pregnant!" Your smiled widened. "You're going to be a dad!"
Your husband went pale before quickly responding, "Seriously?!"
You nodded. The gesture was barely finished before Sam grabbed your shoulders gently and brought himself in for a kiss. It was fiery and passionate. Your thoughts clouded as you lost the ability to think straight. Sam then seemed to grasp reality as the passion faded into something slow and soft. One of his hands moved so that it rested under your ear, his thumb caressing your cheek.
He broke away and rested his forehead against yours. You two laughed merrily.
"I'm going to be a father."
