The diner was a little more crowded than usual, not that you minded. It just meant more tips and less time doing boredom-fueled crossword puzzles.
It was almost Thanksgiving so the aroma of freshly baked pies wafted through the restaurant. The smell was so delicious that you were considering buying a pie for yourself and bringing it home with once your shift ended.
The doorbells let out a soft chime that faded into the jazz music playing in the background.
"Hello." You greeted as a handsome, tall man stepped onto the tile. Handsome was an understatement, especially with the pretty green eyes, freckles, and leather. He offered a thousand dollar smile as he stepped up to the counter. "May I help you?"
"Yes, I would like to order two bacon cheeseburgers, one with extra onions. To go. Do you have any pie?"
"We do. What flavor?"
"Cherry?" His gaze flickered over you- it was a look that you were all too familiar with. The 'you're good looking, want to meet up later?' You sent him a challenging gaze in response, as much as you wanted that look from him.
"We have cherry, it's six dollars. Is there anything else you're interested in?"
"You."
"You're funny," you said with a chuckle and printed out his receipt. "Just sign on the line and I'll go get your pie and burgers."
When you returned with the bag and a box with the freshly-baked cherry pie, the man was leaning against the counter. He slid the receipt over to you smoothly.
"Thanks." He winked as he took the bag and walked a bow-legged walk to the door. You glanced down to the receipt and saw he had scribbled a number right under the signature that read, 'James Bond.'
"Funny man, indeed."
