FLASHBACK

"Guys! Get her out of here!" Gabriel commanded and he helped you up from the floor. You glanced up at your boyfriend then to Lucifer.

"Gabe, don't-" you whispered pleadingly.

"Just go," he responded. Sam and Dean had made their way cautiously across the dining hall and towards you. The brothers quickly escorted you to the exit.

"Wait!" you yelled. "I need to tell Gabriel something-"

"We need to go. Now." Dean continued pulling you towards the exit.

"You don't understand!" You grabbed the older brother by the front of his shirt and flipped him. You ran down the bloodstained hallways and jumped over the bodies of the Pagans. You spun into the dining hall to see Lucifer plunge a blade into Gabriel's stomach. The decoy of your boyfriend faded at that moment.

You slapped a hand over your mouth to keep yourself from screaming. Stumbling backwards, you watched as Lucifer vanished.

"No-"

FLASHBACK OVER

Two years had passed since Gabriel had been killed. It had been hard at first but you had found ways to get out of bed each morning. You put your pants on one leg at a time, made coffee that tasted the same as yesterday's, and dropped your daughter off at daycare.

Your child was a nephilim and you were well aware. She was barely two years old and her favorite thing was levitating her crayons to draw on the walls. It was annoying to scrub her artwork off each night, but you loved her all the same. Of course she couldn't go to a real daycare. Jody Mills had offered to watch her while you went to your job as a nurse.

You hadn't hunted for two years.

"Good morning, Y/n." The receptionist smiled.

"Good morning, Arthur," you responded. You punched your code in and went to grab your uniform.

"Wait!" Arthur called after you. "I was wondering," he said as you turned, "if you wanted to go get coffee at some point? Today, tomorrow, doesn't even have to be this week. It was just a thought."

You sighed. "I appreciate the offer, really. But, my daughter-"

"Oh no! It can be during work hours or you can bring her, if that makes you feel better. I do love kids."

"I'll think about it." You smiled.

A month had passed since your first date with Arthur. You two got along brilliantly. He seemed to fill that hole in your heart that you had since...

It was Maia, your daughter, who took some time to warm up to him.

"No," she pouted.

"C'mon, Maia. Arthur is a nice man. He likes you."

"No!" Maia screamed. For a toddler, she was smart. But she still had the expected temper. "Bad man!"

"Give him a chance, for me. For Mama. Please."

Maia met your distressed gaze. Her whiskey colored eyes softened.

"Be nice?" she asked.

You nodded. "Yes. Be nice. Mama likes Arthur very much. I am happy with him. So be good."

"I wuv you."

"I love you too."

At that moment, the doorbell rang. You smiled at your daughter and picked her up, placing her against your hip. You walked to the door and opened it. Arthur waved down at Maia, causing her to frown.
