Happy Pride, everyone!

The books were out in front of you– everything you could find on granting wishes. You had lore on genies, fairies, witches, and the most sinister demons. You had spells and summoning rituals. Nothing seemed like it would work, but you were desperate.
For what you wanted, there was nothing practical you could do. You didn't have the money; you didn't have the approval. But, deep down, you knew that you had to find a way. Even if it was by impractical methods.
So, you prayed. And when praying didn't work, you tried some spells. And when spells didn't work, you tried summoning mystical beings. You were left with one option, the one you were dreading the most: selling your soul.
You closed all of the books you no longer needed. All that was left were crumpled printouts on crossroad demons.
You grabbed the parchment with ingredients and incantations written in a faded scrawl.
The bone of a dead cat or milk of a black cow.
Graveyard dirt.
A photo identification.
A box.
It wasn't hard to get the materials. It was convenient since you lived in the country. The only thing that was out of the way was the graveyard dirt.
Then you left at night and drove out of town. You weren't sure where you were going, but you wanted to be far from your family when this happened.
You found an empty dirt road and drove. You didn't stop until you were met with a crossroad in the middle of a maze of corn. You didn't have a shovel so you used your hands, clawing at the dirt until it was deep enough to place your box in. Your fingers were raw but that was the least of your worries.
You brought out the piece of paper with the incantation messily scribbled.
"Daemon, esto subjecto voluntati meae," you whispered. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, hoping with all of your heart that it would work.
"You summoned?"
You screamed and opened your eyes. There, standing in front of you, was a woman in a skintight black dress and red pumps. Her porcelain skin contrasted the sinister crimson of her eyes. You could only stare in shock and horror as her pupils faded into a more natural color. She scoffed and shifted her weight onto one leg. "What did you expect? A fuzzy, warm welcome? A blonde, perhaps? French fries?"
You cleared your throat. "I wasn't expecting it to work in general. Nothing else did."
She rolled her eyes. "What do you want?"
Your shoes seemed very interesting now. You shuffled your feet in the dirt. The moment you had been so anxiously awaiting was here.
"If you don't tell me, I'm going to leave."
"This isn't easy, you know."
"I have literally heard everything. What you have to say will probably not be too bad. But I haven't got all night. You're not my only client tonight."
"I'm trans!" you blurted. Your eyes widened and your chest heaved. "I- I want to sell my soul to make the transition. I don't have the money or the acceptance from my family. I don't have the time either. And the people at work would never understand.
"I want to be who I feel on the inside and start over! I want to be me with no backlash. I want people to look at me for who I truly am and to not judge me because of my gender identity and sexuality! I want to speak with my own voice and not someone else's. I don't want to suppress myself anymore. I just want to be me."
You could have sworn to see the woman smile. "I can do that," she said. "In exchange for ten years. You have ten years before Hell comes for your soul."
You nodded. Ten years of being true to yourself would be better than one more day of silence.
"Deal."
