~ Reader's POV ~

The clouds billowed around the navy sky, thunder rumbled then and again from time to time as I walked through the deserted city streets. At this moment, I knew I didn't care if I got rained on or not. My feet stomped the pavement angrily as I hurried home. Tears streamed down my cold face and my eyes were red and puffy from crying for a long while.

I had walked in on my boyfriend with another girl... I had never felt so betrayed in my life. The anger that boiled up in my gut was still bubbling away as I replayed the scene over and over again in my head. Without a second thought I had broken up with him and obviously punched him in the face. I may be damaged, but that wouldn't take away my vigorous demeanor. I would never put up with someone treating me so disrespectfully.

I sniffled, shoving the restless thoughts out of my head. I just wanted to get home and go to bed, this day had definitely taken its toll on me and I was ready to sleep it away.

A smash of a glass bottle stopped me in my tracks; I clenched my fists and stared into the darkness, trying to make out a person but only seeing small remnants of glass ahead of me.

"Who's there?" I asked, taking a small step forward.

A man wobbled out into the streetlight, clumsily staggering towards me.

"Well h-hiya!" He hiccupped, swinging an arm around my shoulder.

"Get off of me!" I shouted, hitting him away. The intense smell of alcohol made me want to hurl.

"Oh come on now, how much do you want?" He asked, pulling a stack of cash out of his pockets, and also sending his keys and small pieces of paper to the ground.

"How much?" I eyed him and the cash and then my eyes widened as it clicked in my mind.

"I'm not a hooker!" I screamed, punching him in the jaw as he once again tried to approach me.

"Oh you've done it now." He growled, the drunken glint in his eyes darkened. I took a step back and pivoted on my heel to run, but he had a tenacious grip on my arm, preventing me from leaving. I struggled as he pulled me towards him, kicking and biting at whatever I could.

"Let her go, you bastard..." I heard an angry voice say. I glimpsed behind the drunk and saw a boy around my age; he had chestnut hair that was tucked messily into a black beanie and he had a skateboard underneath his foot, rolling it back and forth steadily. His eyes held a steely gaze, not backing down for anything.

"What're you gonna do bout' it?" The drunk slurred, throwing me around in his arms.

"Could this night get any worse?" I thought, groaning internally.

The boy scoffed and a sly smirk crept onto his lips, before I could see what had happened, he was gone from that spot and there was a flash of bright red. I shielded my eyes and felt the man's grip loosen. When the atmosphere had settled, I peaked out from behind my arm. The drunk lay slumped on the ground, unmoving, but he was still breathing. I looked around for the guy, but it seemed as if I was alone...

"Hey..." I spun around, seeing him standing there as if nothing had really happened.

"O-oh, um, hi, what happened?" I stuttered, taking a step closer to him, he had saved me?

"W-well, who knows what he could have done... s-so I decided to h-help you." He stuttered back, rubbing the back of his neck and avoiding my gaze.

"Thank you, you don't know how much that means to me." I breathed, closing my eyes for a minute and letting the adrenaline leave my veins.

"W-well s-sure, I-I'm Yata... by the way." He said, rolling the skateboard back and forth again anxiously. I noticed that there was a pink blush on his cheeks.

"Aww." I thought, surprising myself. "Wait, what?"

"Nice to meet you, I'm (Y/N)."

"Where are you headed, (Y/N)?"

"Home..." I remembered the events that lead up to me being here and I couldn't help but tear up, I smiled briefly at Yata and then wiped away the stray drops of water with my sleeve.

"W-what's w-wrong? Are you hurt?" Yata asked, hurrying over to me and examining my features.

"Oh n-no! I'm fine, it's just... a long story." I chuckled, sniffling slightly.

"W-well, I can walk you home if you want, and maybe you could talk to me about it? O-only if you want to though! I-it's totally okay if you don't." He said nervously, fumbling with his fingers, the blush on his cheeks darkened and I smiled.

"Yeah... sure, that would be great actually."

Yata looked up at me, surprise evident on his face, I guess he really didn't expect me to accept his offer.

"Alright then." He grinned and grabbed my sleeve, tugging me in the direction I was headed before.

...

"...And then that's when you found me on the street." I explained to him, picking up my cup of tea and taking a small sip, finishing off the beverage. Yata was wrapped up in one of my blankets and was listening intently to my story.

"What a bitch!" He shouted; his hazel eyes darkened a little.

"I know, I don't even know why I was with him in the first place, you know? He was sort of abusive from the start..." I sighed, looking into my empty teacup.

Yata looked at me with a sad gaze, and then reached across the little table and placed his hand on my shoulder, making me look up at him.

"If you ever need to talk, I'm here." He said grinning brightly, making me giggle.

"Thank you so much."

After that, we decided to watch a few movies, I guess the two of us had a lot in common, we liked the same movies and some of the same music, we had the same favorite color, and the same short-fused temper. By the end of all our movies and conversations, it was around 1:30 in the morning.

"Shit, I should probably go." He said, looking at his watch. I unintentionally felt my mood fall. Yata noticed the sad look on my face and thought about something for a second, looking into my eyes with an unsure expression. I tilted my head to the side and he huffed before roughly pulling me in for a hug, I stood shocked for a moment and then hesitantly hugged him back.

"We should hang out again tomorrow, okay?" he chuckled, grabbing his skateboard and heading for the front door.

"Yeah! That would be great." I smiled; he opened the door and walked out into the corridor of my apartment building.

"W-wait!" I called; he turned around and looked at me curiously.

I wandered out into the hallway and ran up to him, quickly kissing him on the cheek and feeling my face heat up instantaneously. I cautiously looked up at him and smiled to myself when I saw his eyes wide and a blush also upon his face. I walked back into my apartment and closed the door a bit.

"Goodnight, Yata." I waved, and then shut the door, leaning on it and sighing.

I wonder how far this could go...

(A/N): Should I make a part two of this?? O.O
