The Fight For Love Between Friendly Rivals (Mixed POV's)

(Shadow's POV)

     Everyone was gathered together at the park, in which the 4th of July celebration had taken place. Sonic had called us here for an important meeting. Whispers were exchanged until Sonic spoke up. "Hey, alright, calm down everyone! Now, some of you may not know why you are here. We gathered so that we may pair up in groups as search parties. (Y/n) has been captured last night and we need to go rescue her. The culprit is most likely one of the deadliest enemies some of us know. His name is Nazo," Sonic explained. Everyone gasped! Whispers filled the air.
     Suddenly, it struck me! My eyes opened in shock, realizing that I had remembered that Nazo was the one who had attacked me before. I quickly made my way through the crowd and approached Sonic. I didn't approach him with my usual frowning glare but instead a concerned one. "Sonic, I remember now. Nazo, was the one who attacked me. After you had mentioned his name, the memories came back to me. He IS the culprit," I explained. At first Sonic seemed surprised. "Ok, thanks, Shad," he said as he seriously nodded.
     I made my way back into the crowd, to listen to the rest of the meeting. As I crossed my arms and looked to the sky, I remembered (y/n). I had to find her and save her. I promised to protect her. I wasn't able to protect Maria, so I MUST protect her.

(Silver's POV)
     I felt more sick as Sonic went on about (y/n's) capture. I did not know this Nazo he spoke of, but from what Sonic had said, he sounds extremely powerful. Was (y/n) really with this guy? I clenched my fists at the thought of it all. Suddenly, I heard Sonic clear his throat, announcing that groups were about to be called.
     "These will be the groups paired. Sonic and I will go together. Knuckles will go with Rouge. Charmy and Vector will be paired. Amy and Blaze are together. Shadow will team up with Silver, and Cream will go with Espio," Tails explained. I groaned at the thought of pairing with Shadow. It made me quite angry. Suddenly, I saw Shadow out of the corner of my eye as he approached me. As usual, Shadow crossed his arms and frowned seriously.
     "Ok, everyone, let's get moving. Come to me and I'll tell you what direction to take, and I'll give you a map of the area," Tails said. Everyone lined up, including Shadow and I. "Shadow and Silver, you'll go on the route that leads to Mystic Mansion. Nazo might use that as a hideout for him and (y/n)," Tails said, handing me a map. I nodded. "Ok, we'll do our best," I answered, clenching a hopeful fist. Shadow responded with a simple, "Hmph"!

     After a week of searching, Silver and Shadow stopped to plan their next move. "We are going to take the Dragon Road. Then we'll head for Mystic Mansion," Shadow said, as he looked at the map that Silver held high. Suddenly, Silver became irritated.
     "We go here. Next, we go there. Why are you the only one giving directions? Besides, who made you the leader?" Silver snapped, sounding out of character as if he were acting like a child. Shadow shot him a glare of annoyance. "Because I have no time to waste on following directions from someone who doesn't know their surroundings in this timeline, like I do," Shadow said coldly, acting a bit childish, too. "Argh!" Silver growled in anger.
     The tension was intense between the two as they paced in thought away from each other. "We have no time to waste. Let's go!" Shadow demanded. "No! I will be (y/n's) hero, not you! You stole her from me. I saw you two hugging on her porch the night you walked her home!" Silver snapped, pointing a finger at Shadow. Seeing Silver act so childish made Shadow even angrier. "It was a hug. Get over it. Yes, I admit, I do love (y/n), but I never had the chance to tell her. She may like anyone or no one for all we know, but no one will know unless we save her," Shadow explained, growing frustrated. 
     Silver lowered his finger and his eyes opened wide. "So, I still have a chance?" He asked. Shadow uncrossed his arms and waved his hand. "Yes, but that doesn't mean I'm giving her up to you, at least not that easily," Shadow answered. Silver flinched, feeling threatened by Shadow. "Argh! So a fight is what you want? Fine, but it'll be NO USE," Silver threatened back in a confident yet cocky manner.
     The two hedgehogs readied themselves for a fight. Shadow took out his green Chaos Emerald while Silver held up his hands, ready for combat. "Give up now or face the consequences," Shadow warned. Silver stepped nervously left and right in order to get a good stance. "I won't give up! I won't let anyone stop me when I'm pursuing a goal!" Silver retorted, waving his left hand in front of him. Shadow, in response, raised his emerald.
     "As you wish," Shadow said as he smirked, "CHAOS CONTROL"! Suddenly, Shadow appeared in front of Silver and instantly kicked him in the stomach, sending Silver flying through the air, and smashing into a large Boulder. Silver growled and suddenly began to glow  with a bright cyan colored aura. Shadow looked from side to side to see piles of rocks and other debris floating by him, surrounding him. "Take this!" Silver exclaimed, as he moved the the objects towards Shadow with a wave of his hand. "Hmph!" Shadow said as he jumped upward and began 'wall jumping' from one object to the next before it smashed to the ground.
     Shadow had reached the last rock that was in front of Silver so he leaped forward, and round house kicked Silver in the right side of the neck. He once again flung him into the ground. After making a perfect landing, Shadow dusted himself off then he began to approach Silver. Silver was panting and he hung his head low. "Hyaaaah!" Silver exclaimed as he quickly lifted his head and right arm. A cyan aura emitted around Shadow when suddenly, it forcefully thrusted Shadow backwards.

     Finally, Shadow and Silver's fight had drained them of their energy, making them become exhausted. Unfortunately, neither Shadow nor Silver would give up so easily. Silver stood to his feet and mustered as much of the energy he had left. He lifted his hands and lifted countless objects all at once, surrounding the black hedgehog with red highlights. Shadow was a bit nervous at the amount of debris surrounding him but brushed off the feeling. He raised his fists, ready to take on the attack.
     "Take this!" Silver exclaimed, throwing huge groups of debris at Shadow. Using the 'wall jump' helped Shadow a bit until things came at him faster. WACK! SLAM! Shadow  was knocked hard to the ground. Objects continued coming, that is until everything started being smashed to bits by a blue ball. It plowed into each object with ease as it made its way up to Silver. Suddenly, the blue ball launched a homing attack in on Silver. "Ouff!" Silver groaned as he was flung backwards.
     Suddenly, a pair of red and white shoes planted themselves unto the ground. "What's going on here?" Sonic asked, irritated. Shadow and Silver stared for a few moments as they both processed what happened. "Out of my way, Sonic! This is my fight," Silver warned. Sonic looked at both hedgehogs and his eyebrows lowered. "We're not supposed to be fighting each other. We are supposed to be saving (y/n) while we save energy to fight Nazo together," Sonic said disappointingly. Silver lowered his head in shame and Shadow looked to his right, unable to look at Sonic.
     "Sonic and I happened to be crossing through your route a bit, so I'm glad we caught you while we did," Tails said. "Now, we've got to get going, and I suggest you do the same, but what reason could you possibly have to fight each other?" Sonic asked. Silence filled the air until Silver finally spoke. "We were...fighting to see who would steal (y/n)'s heart," Silver said as he hung his head low.
     Sonic became dumbfounded and blinked a few times. "That's the reason?" He asked, confused, as he scratched his head. The two hedgehogs nodded. Sonic sighed. "That's not important right now! What IS important is that we work as a team and that we save (y/n). Romance can wait for later.  See ya," Sonic said, jumping onto the X Tornado's wing. Tails started the plane and the duo was off again.
     Shadow and Silver looked at each other and nodded, agreeing with what Sonic had said. Agreeing to put their differences aside, the two made off once more towards Mystic Mansion.
