Just under three weeks later, it was finally Christmas Day! However, nothing was decorated. Nothing except for the snow blanketing the ground outside. Surprisingly, Nazo allowed you to go outside and entertain yourself since you were bored. For the past few weeks, he had been quite distant, resulting in him being more lenient with what you could and couldn't do. As you played in the snow, feeling the enjoyment a small child would have, you created snowmen that resembled your friends. Once you finished making them, you sighed as you rubbed your arms to warm them up. "I miss them so much..." you sighed softly.
More snow began to fall as you shivered from the cold. 'Looks like my fun is over...' you thought. You began trudging through the snow until you reached the front door. Before entering however, you looked back at your snowmen for a moment. An urge suddenly overcame you as you picked up a handful of snow, and balled it together. Smirking, you threw it at the snowman roughly shaped like Sonic. Then you hit each of the other ones. "Ha! I win the snowball war!" You chuckled, smiling a bit. It quickly faded though as you realized just how lonely you really felt.
Finally, you entered after shaking off the snow from your boots. You shivered while making your way to the kitchen, hoping to find something to warm you up. The only hot drinks available there were coffee, tea, hot apple cider, or coca. As you turned the corner, you nearly collided with Nazo. He stepped back quickly, making sure to keep a grip on his mug filled with coca. "S-sorry...!" You muttered with a stutter. He simply starred at you before squeezing past you through the doorway. You couldn't imagine why he'd been so distant for at least three weeks now. Did revealing his past really bother him that much?
Nazo headed for the study, locking the door behind him. He set the mug down on a wooden desk, which had an open folder on it. A profile of information was opened, laying across the desk, displaying every detail Nazo had written down about you. He sat down, staring at the papers all while in deep though. A finger slid down the paper until he stopped and pointed at the section labeled Powers. 'For about three weeks, Y/N has been displaying an increase in power... Perhaps it's because she's been content with my unintentional leniency... Is happiness another way to unlock her powers?' He thought to himself.
He lifted the mug to his lips, taking a sip as he leaned back in his seat. After putting the mug back down, he sighed. "Hopefully happiness is not a way to unlock her powers..." he mumbled to himself. Despite saying this, a part of him felt as though happiness was a part of the solution. He thought that if it was, he would have to inevitably help you feel happy during your stay there. He wasn't looking forward to that at all!
After writing down the last of your powers he had recently observed over the weeks, he closed the file...thinking. 'Where exactly did her powers originate from?" He muttered to himself. It was a question that had been on his mind for awhile. Actually ever since the beginning! He thought long...and hard... but he couldn't come up with an explanation. "I suppose I'll have to do more research on Y/N... Unless she's willing to answer a few questions..." he said, standing up. He cracked his back quickly before exiting the room.
"Y/N?" He called out as he searched for you. Once he reached one of the lounges, he noticed you were sitting on a couch as you placed a decorative box into a Christmas themed bag. You instantly looked up, surprised to see him again so soon. You grinned nervously. "Oh... Hi!" You said. He on the other hand, simply lifted a brow. Rather then asking you about the bag beside you, he told you he had some questions. You sighed. This again... "Actually, I want to give you something!" You said, trying to distract him. You grabbed the bag, got up, and handed it to him. "What is this?" He asked, a bit confused. You're expression dropped before forming into a look of disbelief! "Um... A...gift. You've never had a Christmas gift before?" You said. "No," he simply answered. You looked at him in disbelief again before smiling. "Well then...Merry Christmas! Enjoy your first Christmas gift! Handcrafted by me!" you said.
Nazo stared at the bag for a moment before reaching his hand inside. He pulled out the gift wrapped box and started ripping off the paper. You smiled as you watched him unwrap his gift, made personally by you! Once the box was opened he pulled out a snow globe, all made by items you had found laying around the base! You had taken a spherical cologne bottle from one of the former owner's room, removed the sprayer, threw some finely shredded paper into it for the snow, made a cardboard cutout of him and yourself making a snowman, glued the cardboard cutout to a cork, shove the cork into the opening of the cologne bottle, then glued the globe part to a coaster to make a stand! He inspected it, actually intrigued!
"Pretty neat, Huh? I threw anything I could find together since, well...I can't exactly leave the base," you said softly. Nazo lightly shook it, watching as the little bits of paper fluttered around inside the globe. "I must say...that's rather impressive," he said, admiring you're creativity. Surprised by his reaction, you felt happy to know your effort was worth it! "I'm so glad you like it! I didn't know if you would!" You said happily. Suddenly, Nazo could physically sense and feel an increase in your stored away power. He even saw an aura begin to form when you happily clasped your hands together. When you eventually pulled your hands apart, a spark ignited between your hands as an energy ball formed. Startled, you jumped back and swung your hands away, causing it to hit the ground. The carpet singed as the wood floor beneath splintered as a hole burned through the surface. "What just...happened?" You asked, as your eyes widened. Nazo resisted the urge to smile pleasingly. "Seems as though your powers can activate according to your positive emotions as well as your negative emotions...." he hypothesized. Suddenly, an idea began to stir. A nefarious idea in which he immediately planned to put into motion!
"Back to the matter at hand... I must admit, it feels nice to be appreciated for the first time.." he said, looking at the snow globe. ".. Despite how I've been treating you...you've decided to make me a gift.... Thank you," he said, giving you a small and appreciative smile. You were quite surprised when he said that, but you were glad to know you were getting somewhere with him. After a moment or two of silence, as he looked intently at the cardboard cutout of you two, he finally spoke up. "Y/N..." he said, looking up at you. "I'd like to ask you for....forgiveness. For everything I've done to you...and to ask if it'd be possible to form..." he said, pausing briefly, "a friendship..."
"You...You want us to...become friends?" You asked in surprise. He turned from you, sighing a tad as he shifted his focus onto something else in the room. "That is...unless you'd rather not be friends..." he said, trying to guilt-trip you. You quickly shook your hands in front of you as you shook your head from side to side. "I didn't say that! Maybe we could, but...I'd like to get to know you better! To know the side of you that isn't... cruel or destructive.... I want to know your likes, dislikes, hobbies, things like that... That's pretty much what friends do..." you said. Instinctively, you took a step closer to him. "Also...where'd that come from? You never expressed any interest in being friends before," you asked softly. He glanced over at you, quickly crafting a believable lie. "I have been thinking about starting a friendship since the day I told you about my past... However, I kept it to myself, thinking it'd never happen..." he said, while crossing his arms. You smiled. Could this also be the key to your freedom? After all, friends aren't supposed to lock each other up. "I'd be willing to be friends...but I'd appreciate it if you started giving me some freedom," you said, also crossing your arms.
'Freedom? If I'm going to put my plan into action...I need her to trust me...' he thought. He smiled at you. "I'll keep it in consideration and will let you know what I decide by New Year's Day," He said, almost teasingly. Rolling your eyes, you shook hands on it. "Thanks, Nazo! Also, I hope you're serious... About being friends," you said. After drawing back your hand, you offered to bake some holiday cookies. Whether you enjoyed baking or not, you figured it was something you could do until you were granted any sort of freedom from the base. When you left, Nazo also turned to leave. Knowing step one of his plan was underway, his smile formed into a sinisterly evil grin!
