Nazo X Reader -Acceptance is Everything-

Shadow's Suspicion

Orange and yellow colored clouds blanketed the sky as the sun began to set. The shadows of the heroes stretched out across the graveled road, as they slowly made their way to the X Tornado. "Are you sure you guys'll be aright?" Silver asked. Shadow walked tall with his arms crossed, though he was in pain, and Sonic limped a bit. "I think they'll be just fine. Sonic and Shadow always recover pretty fast," Knuckles said as he continued walking ahead, staring into the sunset.
     The rest of the group stayed silent until Shadow spoke up. "Sonic, what did Nazo exactly mean when he said that you knew him so well, and that you know him for who he REALLY is? Is there something you're not telling us?" Shadow questioned. Sonic looked towards him with half closed eyelids. "It's nothing, Shadow. He's just trying to mess with us," Sonic said, turning his head forward again.
     Shadow's frowning expression hardened and his eyebrows lowered. "Still, why would he say that? Also, you seemed quite irritated when he brought it up," Shadow grabbed Sonic's shoulder, "Sonic, what are you hiding"? Sonic tensed at Shadow's grip on him. Quickly, Sonic turned his head. "I SAID ITS NOTHING, SHADOW! I don't focus on things that were in the past...not like you. I run towards the future. Besides, it's not a big deal," Sonic snapped. He looked away from his friends, and clenched his teeth as he closed his eyes.
     Shadow looked hard at Sonic as they continued to walk in silence. Shadow thought that Sonic was not acting like his normal self. Especially not now that he was questioning the blue hedgehog. Tails and Silver exchanged concerned looks, as Knuckles shook his head in disappointment of the whole situation. Suddenly, Sonic stopped walking, Shadow did as well.
     "Tails get the plane running," Sonic said, softly. Tails nodded and ran ahead, making it to the X Tornado. Knuckles followed him. "Well hedgehog, what's next?" Shadow asked in a deeper tone. Sonic clenched his fists as he looked at Shadow. "We'll try to track down Nazo by plane. We'll also ask people if they have seen which direction he headed in. In the meantime, you and Silver can go search elsewhere, anywhere. Just try to stop, Nazo...at any cost. Let's meet up in a few days to see if any of us have any update on the search," Sonic answered, clenching a fist in front of him.
     Sonic looked up to Silver and Shadow then waved a hand. "See ya," He said lowly and seriously. He ran off towards the X Tornado, jumping onto the left wing while Knuckles stood on the right. Shadow watched as they flew off into the distance. The wind picked up and swayed the hedgehogs' quills.  
     Silver looked concerned as he stared at Shadow. "Why did Sonic act so strangely when you asked him that?" Silver asked softly. Shadow didn't face him. "I don't know, but I have a feeling that whatever happened in the past, Sonic wants to keep in the past. He doesn't want anyone to know about what happened, but I'M going to find out what it is. Whether he wants me to or not,"  Shadow answered softly and seriously. Silver nodded then saw Shadow waving him on. "Let's try our best to find Nazo. He has my Chaos Emerald and we need to get it back. Also...we can't let (y/n) down," Shadow added, as he continued walking into the sunset, which lit up his deep crimson eyes.
