It's been two weeks since (y/n) was knocked out and no one had luck in finding her. Sonic was still going solo, while Tails and the rest of the group rested a bit from other injuries they had obtained over the two weeks. On the other hand, Espio, Cream and Cheese had met up with Vector and Charmy. They traveled to countless places but had no luck in finding Nazo's secret residence. That is until they spotted a huge, stone building that had an electrical fence surrounding it. It was located on a small hill isolated from the rest of the land.
"Hey, that looks like a creepy, abandoned place that that Nazo guy would probably stay at," Charmy Bee cheered as he pointed towards the building. Espio nodded. "Sure seems like it, but we can't be too sure. How about we check it out, Vector?" Espio said, looking up to Vector. Vector nodded. "Yeah, let's go! If (y/n) is in there, we may be able to get her out, but I heard this Nazo guy is extremely tough, so we may need back up," Vector said, stopping in his tracks. "Charmy, you and Creamy should go find Rouge and ask her to come here. She wasn't too far off the last time we crossed paths with her," Vector said. Charmy and Cream nodded and began flying away. As Vector turned his head, he saw Espio deep in thought.
"What's wrong?" Vector asked. Espio closed his eyes and he rubbed his chin. "I can't shake the feeling that something seems...off," Espio answered. Vector chuckled a bit. "I don't see what you mean, but I guess I'll find out later," he said with a shrug. As they waited a little longer, Cream and Charmy finally returned. "Hey, boys! Need my help?" Rouge asked. The boys nodded. Suddenly, Rouge's eyes opened wide. She stared hard at the building, studying its features.
"That's the building I was checking out awhile ago before I left to go find Shadow and the others! They still haven't met up with me, and I can't seem to get through to them on my transceiver anymore. I sure hope Sonic didn't forget to tell his friends of my location," Rouge said worryingly. The boys exchanged looks. "It'll be ok. We'll, get in contact with them one way or another," Vector said reassuringly. Rouge nodded. Suddenly, Espio cleared his throat. "Let's get going, shall we?" He asked. The others laughed a bit then followed behind.
--------------------------
After reaching the building, Espio searched around to see if there was a way to turn off the electrical fence from outside. "No luck! Rats! The only way to turn it off would be by an electrical box. They are usually located in a basement. Charmy, Cream, and Rouge are the only ones who can fly and get across. If we fly over with them without turning off the power, and if any of us get injured in a fight, we may not be able to escape. We need to turn off the power!" Espio explained. Vector and Rouge nodded in agreement. "I'll go boys! Just hook me up to your transceivers so I can get in contact with you," Rouge said. After Espio hooked their connections together, Rouge took flight. She flew over the fence and snuck into the building.
An hour had passed and the boys became worried. "Rouge, come in!" Espio said into his transceiver. Static flickered then Rouge's voice crackled over the radio. "There's not a basement in sight! Luckily I haven't faced Nazo yet either," she said. Suddenly, Vector ripped the radio out of Espio's hand. "Come outside and look for a secret entrance or storm sheltered basement. It might be in there," Vector suggested. "On it!" Rouge said before ending her communications with them. "Boy, this is as hard as finding that computer room from that one mission," Vector said as he scratched his head. Espio rolled his eyes and shook his head and he sat cross legged on the ground.
--------------------------
"I found it! I found the basement and now I'm in front of the electrical box. It was tough, but I made it," Rouge said over the radio. The boys jumped and grabbed the radio at the same time. "Good work! Can you open it?" They said in unison. There was some static and shuffling then Rouge's voice came back  on. "Yes, there just happened to be a screwdriver here," she said. More static then occurred. Suddenly, the group noticed the power shutting down and the electrical fence turned off. They cheered happily and waited for Rouge to come back to them.
Rouge came out and opened up the electrical fence gate which was also turned off. Everyone piled in and snuck up to the building. "I'll scope out the place quickly then I'll give you guys the signal to enter," Espio said. The others nodded while Espio turned "invisible". He stealthily moved throughout the halls as he looked for Nazo and (y/n). He practically searched the whole building before returning to the group. Espio returned and waved two fingers, signaling them to enter.
"Mr. Espio, did you find Miss (Y/n)?" Cream asked worryingly. Espio shook his head and lightly and kindly shushed her. "No I haven't," he answered, quietly. Cream whimpered and so did Cheese. The group continued searching and then eventually split up. "Espio, I'm sure they're here! I have a good feeling that we'll find them soon," Charmy said optimistically. Espio stayed quiet as he checked another room. Suddenly, his eyes opened wide. "Charmy, go get the others!" He whispered loudly. Charmy signaled an 'ok' sign and flew off.
Finally, the rest of the group reunited. "What is it, Espio?" Vector whispered. Espio simply pointed in the direction of the room he had just checked a minute ago. Everyone else peered in and gasped! Sitting in the dark was...Nazo! "It's Nazo, I'm sure of it! Look at those tall quills on his head and long back quills," Vector said. Espio and Rouge nodded. "So what's the plan boys?" Rouge asked. They huddled together and discussed a plan.
"I say we give him a sneak attack by trying to knock him out or have Charmy sting him," Vector suggested. Everyone hummed in disagreement. "What other choice do we have? Maybe we can try to knock him out or stall him while someone else gets (y/n) if she's in there," Vector said, getting slightly annoyed.
Rouge looked back into the room them back to the group. "I'll go with it because that's all we can really do. Charmy and Cream should carry (y/n) out while we deal with Nazo," she said. Everyone nodded and readied themselves. "On three. One...two...three!" Vector whispered loudly. Suddenly, they all ran into the room. Espio used a karate chop attack while Rouge used a special kick attack, and Vector did the final blow by hitting a chair over Nazo's head. Everyone then paused as they noticed Nazo's head popped off with a click sound, and his body fell limp to the floor. Espio gasped! "It's a-!" He exclaimed, being cut off by a huge, hidden, cage falling down trapping them. "You had a good feeling, huh?" Espio said as he looked towards Charmy. Charmy nervously laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Nazo outfoxed us! He knew we would find this place so he set up a trap for us," Vector grumbled angrily. He punched the bars but quickly flung back his hand. Espio tried squeezing through the bars but there was an electric force field around the cage that shocked him. He jumped back and growled to himself. It was no use! The Chaotix, Cream and Cheese, and Rouge were now trapped, unable to find (y/n).
Meanwhile, outside the base, a light azure hedgehog stood atop the highest point of the hill. He chuckled evilly. "Those fools! They fell right into my trap! That's only one of the bases that the seven villains had build over the years. It's not the one where I reside," he laughed before flying off, returning to his search for the Chaos Emeralds.
