Meeting With Eggman

"Hey, Tails, how long until we reach our destination?" Sonic asked as he stood atop the plane's wing. Tails looked down to check his readings. "We still have awhile to go. Why, what's on your mind, Sonic?" Tails responded, looking towards his best friend. Sonic stayed quiet for a few moments then took a deep breath and looked back at Tails.
"How do you think Nazo returned?" Sonic asked. Tails became surprised by the sudden question. "Uh, I-I don't know," Tails answered nervously. Sonic continued to look forward and scanned the area below. "Well, I have a hunch that Eggman is behind this. If we aren't too far from his base, can we check it out?" Sonic asked. Tails looked at his readings again then nodded.
"Ok, hold on tight," Tails said, as he turned the plane on a sharp left turn. The plane zipped through the air as they headed for the base. Tails looked to his friend for a few moments and noticed Sonic's face was in deep thought. Sonic had never looked or acted so serious before, especially not for long. Tails sighed, as he worried about his friend.
Sonic stood tall as he now clenched his fists by his sides. The wind blew his quills, lifting them slightly as they waved in the wind. He loved the feeling of being free like the wind, and that's what he wanted for (y/n), was for her to be free. Sonic was quiet the whole ride and was drowned in thought about his friends. He was quite upset with Silver and Shadow, and hoped they would heed his word.
A few minutes later a voice called to Sonic."Sonic," Tails said, snapping Sonic back into reality, "Eggman's base is up ahead. Get ready for a landing". Sonic knelt to one knee and held onto the wing of the plane as it lowered. Finally, the X Tornado came to a complete stop and Sonic immediately jumped off, planting his feet to the ground.
"Aright, time to make that egg crack and have him tell us if he's behind all this," Sonic said before running towards the base. Tails smiled. Sonic was getting back to his old self now that he was going to be facing Eggman, someone who was always targeted with mischievous behavior and name calling by Sonic. Tails then took to the air again in search of external weapons to shut down or destroy.
"Uh, Sir, we've got readings on an intruder that has entered the building," Orbot, a robot henchman, said nervously. Orbot pulled up an image, on the computer, of a light moving through the mapped course of the building. "What! It better not be that pesky rat I've tried to help out before. Hurry have the robots attack!" Eggman ordered in an angered rage.
"Sir, they ARE attacking, but they're being destroyed rapidly," Orbot said as he pressed his fingers together, nervously. "Should've seen that coming. He's really powerful afterall," Eggman mumbled to himself, "Alright then send out more while I think of a solu-". Suddenly, the door was bashed in and smoke filled the room. "Are you?" Eggman questioned, worryingly.
"Who do you think it is? C'mon, Egghead, we've been long time pals, right?" Sonic asked, jokingly. Eggman sighed in relief but continued to scowl. "Oh, it's you. What do you want?" Eggman asked as he tapped his figures on the armrests of his chair. Suddenly, Sonic became somewhat serious and clenched his fists.
"Are you the one responsible for bringing back Nazo? You've been awfully quiet lately," Sonic said. Eggman hummed to himself in thought then grinned. "Very clever hedgehog. You've figured it out. Yes, I am the great genius that had made it possible for Nazo to return. Unfortunately, he had turned on me, injuring me, and taking my data and plans. Then he deleted all of my research on a project I was working on," Eggman explained. Sonic gasped. "So you were the one who originally planned on using (y/n)'s powers to take over the world?" Sonic asked, pointing a finger at Eggman as he became irritated.
Eggman was surprised as to how Sonic had figured out his plan so quickly. "Hu!Hu!Hu!Hu!" Eggman laughed, as he put a hand in front of his circled mouth. "Yes, why do you ask?" Eggman asked, lifting a brow as he grinned. Sonic scowled at him. "Because, he's the one who has been causing havoc and who has captured my friend. Ever since then," Sonic growled, as his fur began turning much darker, and a dark aura surrounded him, "There has been friction and fighting amongst my friends. It's all because of you two"! Sonic's emerald eyes suddenly vanished, leaving only his white scleras.
Eggman gulped and shifted in his chair. "You'll pay for what you've done!" Sonic yelled. His fists clenched tighter until a hand touched his shoulder. Looking behind himself, as he slightly floated above the ground, Sonic saw his friend Tails standing at his side. Tails' face looked worried and concerned as he held unto Sonic. Suddenly, Sonic's eyes softened, as he slowly reverted back to normal. "Thanks, Tails. I was worried I was going to lose control," Sonic said quietly to Tails. Tails nodded and looked over at Eggman.
"Come on, Sonic. Let's go rescue (y/n). Eggman isn't the threat right now," Tails said, pulling at Sonic's right arm. The duo was about to leave until they noticed Eggman had stood up. "Is that so? Well, don't count on that. You see, I've embedded a tracker into Nazo's sneakers. Wherever he goes, I can follow. Now that I know that he has the girl I need, thanks to you, I can track him down and take her from him," Eggman said proudly.
Sonic growled, and held up a fist as he readied a stance to possibly fight. "We'll stop you no matter what, Egghead! You and your robot army are no match for us," Sonic snarled. Eggman bellowed his goofy laugh and grinned. "Sorry, Sonic, but I must be going now. World domination doesn't plan itself you know. Bye-bye, hedgehog!" Eggman laughed as he pressed a hidden button in his chair, activating a spring floor. "Ahhhhh!" Tails and Sonic called as they were sent flying into the air and outside of Eggman's base.
Sonic stood up, ready to re-enter the base but was stunned as he saw a huge, flying, fortress arising from behind the base. "Hu!Hu!Hu!Hu! I'll race you, Sonic. You'll be too slow since I have the tracker and YOU don't. Hohohohoho!" Eggman laughed evilly over the fortress' external loud speakers.
"C'mon, Tails, let's get moving! We'll show Eggman who's really the fastest," Sonic said, ready for action, as he winked and held a thumb up to Tails. Tails nodded. "Let's do this!" He cheered. The duo set off into the horizon, setting out on a mission to stop Eggman.
