The Meet Up and the Menacing Metal

Another week had passed and Sonic, and Tails, were still tracking down Eggman. They were trying to see where he was heading, in order to beat him there first. "Sonic, I think I've finally tracked down Eggman. He's stopped at...Angel Island? I don't get it. Why would he be there? It's far off from where we were heading to earlier," Tails said, confused.
Sonic scratched his head. "I have no idea, but he's up to no good. So, how about we go scramble some Eggman?" Sonic responded with a slight chuckle. Tails laughed with him and set his coordinates to Angel Island. After awhile of flying, Tails noticed that his fuel was running very low. "Oh no! I hadn't noticed before, but we're running low on fuel, Sonic. We could loose control at any time," Tails said, worryingly.
Sonic looked at Tails then to the ground, which was actually a huge body of water. Sonic's quills raised in fear and he grabbed his head. "If we fall, we'll land in the ocean! Please, Tails, hurry and land the plane anywhere that's not covered in water!" Sonic panicked, now jumping into the X Tornado's back seat. Tails nodded seriously and searched for a nearby place to land.

After getting some fuel, Tails and Sonic continued on their mission. "Looks like Eggman is on the move. My tracker indicates that he is not there anymore. What should we do, Sonic?" Tails asked. In the distance, a floating island appeared to be getting closer. "Let's check out Angel Ialand since we're almost there anyways, and we can see if Eggman was up to anything," Sonic replied as he looked towards the island. Tails nodded and increased the planes speed.
Finally, the duo had reached the floating island and began searching around. "Hey, what're you doing here, Sonic?" A voice asked from behind. Sonic looked back to see Knuckles and Rouge. "Hey, Knucklehead," Sonic said, jokingly. Suddenly, Knuckles raised his fists. "HEY, WATCH IT PAL!" He snarled, harshly. Sonic shrugged. "C'mon, take a joke," he responded.
Tails flew up to the others and pointed to the Master Emerald. "Guys, we have a little problem," Tails said nervously. Knuckles looked up immediately to see Metal Sonic standing on top of the Master Emerald. "NO, MORE LIKE A BIG PROBLEM, TO ME THAT IS! GET AWAY FROM THE MASTER EMERALD!" Knuckles demanded. Metal turned his cold glare towards the heroes. Metal Sonic opened a section of his arm to press a hidden button, which activated a holographic image.
"Huhuhuhu! Say hello to Metal Sonic again, Sonic Heroes! Let me inform you that he is not the same Metal Sonic anymore. I have upgraded quite a few things including a few special surprises that were installed just for you. I couldn't have you following me, so I lead you here where Metal Sonic will finish you off for me. Sayonara, hedgehog! Hehehe!" Eggman's holographic image explained before disappearing. Metal Sonic closed his hologram displayer and looked at the group once more.
"AWAY FROM THE MASTER EMERALD! ARRRGH!" Knuckles shouted as he raced towards Metal Sonic with his fists raised high. Confidently, and quickly, Metal Sonic held up a Chaos Emerald and extended his arm towards Knuckles. "Chaos Control," Metal Sonic said, freezing Knuckles in time. Suddenly, at Sonic rivaling speed, Metal Sonic zipped back and forth, whilst punching and kicking Knuckles while he was still frozen.
Metal Sonic returned to his former position and watched as time turned back to normal. Suddenly, Knuckles sped back up in normal time, falling every which way he was hit. He was then sent hard to the ground as a result of Metal's last hit. He laid unconscious with bruises all over his body. Sonic growled as he saw his friend injured. "I WILL defeat you, Sonic!" Metal said, clutching his metal fist.
"You're going to pay for that!" Sonic exclaimed. Suddenly, Sonic ran up to Metal and began to punch away. Metal had braced himself before Sonic's attack, and launched his shield, resulting in Sonic's attack having no effect on him. Finally becoming tired, Sonic stood back and breathed heavily. As Sonic backed down for a bit, Metal raised his hand, readying a lighting bolt to aim at Sonic.
"ARRRGH!" A voice shouted. Metal looked up, only to see Rouge launching her famous Screw Kick. CRASH! Metal fell to the ground but not for long. "Chaos Spear!" Metal called, launching his attack on Rouge. Suddenly, the Chaos Spears hit Rouge, stunning her.

The fight had continued until nightfall, and everyone but Sonic and Tails were knocked down by Metal. Metal had launched new attacks and seemed a lot stronger than in previous battles, which made it hard for the heroes to fight him. Sonic and Tails were exhausted but not finished just yet. "I've had enough of all of this," Sonic said as he held his arm and breathed heavily. Sonic began to growl and was filled with negative Chaos energy from Metal's Emerald and from the pulsing Master Emerald.
"Grrr! Rrrrr! Heh! Hehehehe!" Sonic maniacally laughed through his teeth as his eyes began glowing white, and his spines lifted high, standing tall. "No, Sonic!" Tails panicked, seeing his friend turning dark once more. "It's over, Metal Sonic," Dark Sonic growled darkly, with a cold smile. A dark aura surrounded Sonic and it increased as he powered up.
Metal braced himself, as he began rebooting his shield. Unfortunately for Metal, Dark Sonic charged at supersonic speeds, punching him hard. After a few given blows to his nemesis, Dark Sonic whipped back his fist then thrusted it forward into Metal's face. Metal's head suddenly snapped, detaching from his robotic body. His body and head flung back, and sparked from the destructive impact.
Dark Sonic stood frozen for a few moments with his fist still extended. Finally, Sonic reverted back to normal. Dropping to the ground, Sonic had passed out due to using too much energy to fight. Tails, worried for his friends, quickly aided their injuries.
Meanwhile, a shadow extended across Metal's headless body. His hand was extended as it still held onto the yellow Chaos Emerald. The shadowy figure lowered his gloved hand, taking the emerald. He grinned evilly. "One more left to find," he said to himself as he made his escape.
