You blinked as your mind raced. Your eyes were locked on Nazo as you watched him try to relax. It was hard for him as everything came back to him all at once. He thought he had already made a fool of himself by losing his temper, so he figured he'd just explain everything. There was no use hiding anything anymore. He knew you'd still have questions if he didn't explain. His fists loosened a bit though they were still balled up, and he looked away a bit.
"You want to know everything? Fine..." he said. He took a deep breath and tried to keep his anger in check. "Around the time Sonic had first discovered the Chaos Emeralds, he was unaware that a super form could be obtained through their power," he began. He slowly started to pace with his arms wrapped behind his back, trying to prepare himself for what he was about to say. He had never told anyone about his past before. "The first time he had unintentionally transformed, only he knew about it. He had never told his friends about me. I was but a mere consciousness back then that existed when he transformed. He took on my appearance as well....which apparently wasn't good enough..." He explained.
You listened closely and watched as he stopped pacing and stood in front on the window to watch as the snow fell, blanketing the ground. "At first, He couldn't get the hang of things. He had to learn how to use his new form. Hmph...as expected, he was very impatient, and just wanted to use it without knowing how capable he really could have been if he just practiced. Since it was his first time transforming however, the form I gave him wasn't powerful enough...at least not at that moment. He secretly used my form at least three times but became frustrated with the results. He wanted something better...more powerful...something more flashy to 'show his foes that he was the hero that would stop them...! He was even cockier back then so it's no surprise he wanted to be the best," he said. You let his words sink in as you continued to stare at him, interested in his story. You remembered just as well how cocky Sonic was back then compared to now. He surely had improved over the years.
"Since I wasn't good enough for him, he eventually figured out a way to trap me inside one of the emeralds. I was forever bound to the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds since then. Meanwhile...he tried to create a new super form. He never succeeded...until one day...." he continued. He let his arms fall to his sides as he tightened his fists. "When Sonic became extremely stressed out while being exposed to chaos energy, the energy became defiled and helped him to transform into a new super form. That super form is the one you know today, though in the past, it contained an evil consciousness within... Sonic became very destructive as well as powerful..." he continued. He glanced at you and looked away again to hide his expression.
"So...what happened?" You asked quietly. Nazo sighed a bit. "I'll spare you on the details of how he eventually got rid of that form, and obtained a good version of it," he stated. He looked at you through the reflection on the glass as a hurt expression slowly forced its way through his hardened and angered exterior. "He never thought of replacing that form with me instead.... I was forgotten! Throughout the years I was lonely and abandoned... Feeling useless..." he said quietly. You lowered your head a bit, focusing your gaze on your feet. You were starting to understand. You didn't look back up at him until he spoke again.
"Over time this pathetic world used the Chaos Emeralds for their own selfish desires, for both good and evil. When used negatively, the emeralds would produce the negative energy and would also store it. Eventually, so much negative chaos energy was stored to the point where the emeralds had to store it somewhere else. That's how I became so powerful! The energy was forced onto me against my will! The negativity consumed me completely....After awhile, I was expelled with a physical body of my own from the emeralds. The energy I held was too much for the emeralds to suppress..." he explained. He paused for a moment before turning toward you slightly.
"I had a new mindset at that point...I wanted revenge!" He said. You looked up at him, raising a brow. "But...Sonic said you only wanted to destroy the world in order to be free from the Master Emerald. You wanted the be the most powerful thing alive!" You said. Nazo growled and snapped his head toward you completely. "That was a lie! I wanted free from the Master Emerald, yes, but that wasn't all! My main goal was to destroy Sonic! I could only do that if I destroyed the emeralds, in turn destroying the world! The shards of the emeralds would've been lost amongst the region of the galaxy, therefore making it impossible to restore them! I needed to be the most powerful thing alive not only to destroy Sonic, but rather to show him I was more than capable of being a worthy super form! How do you think Sonic was able to tell you my name when he told you that?! I hadn't given him my name until after I transformed into Perfect Nazo. He knew my name before I even said it! It's because he knew me!" He snapped.
You recalled the story Sonic and the others told you, and realized Nazo was right! "But...why would Sonic keep this a secret? Couldn't he just say that you were just another super form that was corrupted or something?" You asked, curiously. "Because he doesn't want others to know what he had done to me!Never wanting to reveal that he had created a villain by mistreating and abandoning me! He doesn't want to be held responsible nor does he want his precious reputation ruined!" He explained, angrily. The thought of Sonic only angered him further! His ill temper not being caused by you but rather the blue blur.
Suddenly, you noticed something you'd never thought you'd see. Tears were gathered at the corner of his eyes, welling up more every second. For the first time, Nazo was showing true emotion to you, even though he didn't intend to. It was one of those extremely rare moments for him. To feel sadness inside instead of only anger. Once he noticed you staring, he masked his emotions with a tough expression. "Well, you've got it out me... I hope you're satisfied," he said as he crossed his arms. Silence filled the gap between you before he turned to leave. Honestly, you wanted to stop him, to call his name, do something. Your body refused to move. "I'm so sorry, Nazo... I'm sorry he didn't accept you..." you managed to say through a sad whisper, only loud enough for you to hear. For the rest of the day, you did nothing but think. Left to wonder. You had nothing else on your mind except...for Nazo. His motives were finally clear, and you had to admit, you felt some sympathy for your captor.
