Kovu

Evening...

"Hey, you alright?"

I raise my head up from my front paws seeing my wife Kiara walk inside the cave. "Yeah. Why?"

She comes and lay close beside me. "Oh nothing. Just making sure that your still not hurt or anything from earlier. Man that was crazy!"

"Tell me about it..."

"I don't know what I would do if I'd lost you or Makosa today."

I lick her cheek and smile. "Don't worry my love, I'm not going anywhere. I promise!"

Kiara smiled back purring, then rest her head against my warm dark mane.

"Kovu?" A voice called.

It's my sister Vitani.

"Yes Tani?" I answer.

"Can I speak to you in private for a minute?"

I look at Kiara. Kiara shrug her shoulders giving me an "I don't know" look.

"Uh...yeah. Here I come!" I say, standing up slowly.

My body is still kind of sore from fighting those hyenas earlier.

"Take your time dear." Kiara warned.

I nod. "I'm okay."

I walk outside the cave and there I see Vitani standing with her ears hanging low. She look like she had been crying because her eyes are red.

"What's up?" I ask, with concern.

"Kovu we need to talk."

"About what? Is it bad??"

She look down. "I don't know."

I sit. "Well tell me. I have all the time to listen."

"I've been thinking for a while and..."

"And?"

"I'm planning to leave the Pride Lands."

My emerald green eyes widen. "What? But why?!"

Vitani sniffs. "This place isn't home for me, Kovu."

"What do you mean? That's crazy talk! You have everything here."

"Yeah, like what?"

"You know. Food, water, new friends, a better home and a family!" I say. "Why leave all of that behind?"

Vitani turned away from me. "Kovu these are your new friends and family. Not mines..."

I look confused. "Tani, what are you talking about?"

"It's everything you ever wanted. You always wanted to be with the Princess right? Well now you have it. Along with marriage and cubs. What a perfect life!"

"Vitani, you don't have to ever feel alone. There's plenty of guys here you can try talking to. What about uh that Kopa guy?"

"It's not just that! Ugh, you don't understand..."

"Understand what?" I ask.

"Your life has always been perfect Kovu. You were mother's favorite. She always spoiled you and gave you attention. Not to mention, you were the future King too! She never paid me or Nuka any mind. She only used us as servants." Vitani frowned.

My eyes sadden. "Tani..."

"No Kovu!" She snapped.

I sat there silent.

"You have everything here. Now it's time for me to move on and hopefully start a fresh chapter."

"Vitani don't go, please!"

"Why?"

She finally turns around and face me again.

"You're the only sibling I have that's alive. I'll miss you! We have always been close since cub hood. You were my best friend."

"I know..."

"So stay!"

Her eyes fill up with tears. "Kovu I can't!"

I growl with irritation. "You have nephews here who love and adore you everyday. I remember when they were first born and how happy you was to become an aunt. Why throw that all away?"

"Look I have to do this okay!"

"Fine, just go!"

Vitani cried running down Pride Rock. I roar with anger. I was so angry at her. My own sister left me.

How could she?

Kiara walked out of the cave. "What happened? All I heard was a bunch of yelling and then a loud roar."

"She's gone..." I say.

"Who?"

"Vitani. She's gone..."

Kiara looked confused. "Gone?"

I nod. "She left the Pride Lands."

"What?!"

"She thinks it's best for her and to start a new chapter."

Kiara lower her ears sadly. "I told her don't go..."

I look at her raising a brow. "What?"

"Vitani and I had this same conversation before. She was telling me how she felt like she doesn't fit in the pride like everyone else."

"And you never told me this Kiara?"

"I'm sorry Kovu, I thought you would of known already."

I frown standing up and walking down Pride Rock. "No, I didn't. It's whatever let her go off. I don't care..."

"Kovu where are you going?" She asked. "It's getting dark! You know it's not safe to be going alone."

"I'm going to get a drink and some fresh air. I'll return when the cubs are put to bed."

"Alright..."

I continue walking down Pride Rock.

I need to find some quiet place to clear my head...
