Aala

We arrive at the waterhole. I bend down to drink. Kion walks over and does the same thing. We both share quick glances at one another then look away.

Yeah, so awkward...

I stop drinking and sit. My tail moves side to side. I wait for Kion to say something but he doesn't.

I guess I'll break the silence...

I clear my throat. "Sooooo, Kion. What made you become the Pride Lands fiercest Lion Guard?"

Kion sits beside me with a chuckle. "Seriously out of all random topics you pick this one, Aala?"

"Just answer the question."

"Okay, okay. No need to get smart with me! Now to begin my story, it all started when I was a cub. My father King Simba and Rafiki the wise old baboon Shaman were waiting on me to come back home from my adventure with my best friend Bunga the honey badger. They took me to the Lair of The Lion Guard and tell me about my destiny. It was all so exiting but yet very interesting too. I had so many questions to ask! My father announced to the kingdom that I am the new leader of the Lion Guard. But there was one more thing Rafiki told me. It was something special that no other lion can do. It's called the Roar."

"The Roar?" I question.

He nods. "Yes, the Roar. It is a gift! The Roar is called the Roar of the Elders. I left to go assemble my team and pick  Bunga to be the bravest member because he's the bravest animal I know. I pick Fuli the cheetah to be the fastest, Beshte the hippo to be the strongest, and Ono the bird to be the keenest of sight." Kion then looks down with a frown. "My father at first refuse to accept my choice of teammates telling me that the Lion Guard has always been a lion ONLY group. This disheartens me and I go off by myself." He looks up at the sky and smiles, "I then meet the spirit of Mufasa my grandfather the old King, who tells me to trust my instincts. Later, I decide to stick with my choice of teammates. When the other Hyena Clan led by Janja start attacking gazelles, Me and my team drive them off." Kion stands powerful with his chest poked out. "My parents both express pride in me and my father FINALLY accepting the new Lion Guard. Thus what we are today!"

"Wow that's awesome! Sounds like a cool job to have."

"It is. It can be also hard and very tiring too. Especially when you're the leader! But I won't ever stop protecting these lands. Keeping the pride safe and the circle of life balanced is what I'll forever do."

I smile. I see Kion must really love his job. What really interests me is his special roar.

"Kion is it okay if you show me you're roar?" I ask.

Kion shook his head. "Oh no I can't."

"Why not?"

"I'm not allowed to. Only when it's danger. I can easily lose it and turn out to be a bad lion like my uncle Scar. He was the old Lion Guard leader until he had lose control over his roar. I don't want to be like him. So I'm sorry Aala."

"It's okay I understand. Maybe one day I get to see." I said, nodding.

Kion smirks. "Yeah, you'll get to see how strong it blows my enemies away and have them running crying home like babies."

I laugh. "Okay tough guy."

"Come on, let's go back home." He said, leading the way back.

I join beside him.

Ya know, Kion isn't so bad...
