Chapter 16

Wake up Annie!" I hear Erin call from outside my door.

I flop out of bed and open my door. "what d-"

"Happy Birthday!!" Erin and Ashley yell in my face.

I smile. "Thanks guys, but why are you waking me up at 9:00 in the morning?"

"Because we have things to do today," Ashley says giving me a secretive smile.

Ashley's been living with us for about two weeks now. Things were a bit weird between us but we didn't let it stop us from becoming friends. She's actually a really cool person.

"Like what?" I ask still not completely awake.

"It's a surprise!" Erin exclaims.

"Fine I'll go get ready," I say turning back into my room.

"Try and be quick we have to leave in about an hour," Ashley tells me.

I laugh a little. "I'll try but I doubt I can physically get ready that fast."

I close the door and walk in the bathroom. I take a quick shower and pick out a pair of acid wash shorts with a pink fringed bottom tank top. My hair gets quickly blown dry then straightened. I put my makeup on, then grab my pink vans.

"Ok I'm ready," I say as I walk down the steps.

The girls walk in the kitchen from the living room.

"Took you long enough," Erin says.

"You should've known that I take a long time to get ready. We've known each other for twelve years," I shoot back.

"Ok whatever, we've got to get going," Ashley says.

I walk outside into the warm May air of California.

"Can you guys at least give me a hint of where it is that we're going?" I plead.

"Nope," Ashley teases.

"Most definitely not happening," Erin follows.

"Ugh, fine," I say as I lean back in my seat.

We had to be driving for at least an entire half hour until we pull up to a random house.

"So for my birthday you decided to take me to a random house?" I ask.

"Not some random house a special persons house," Erin says with a sly smile.

"Um ok?" I question.

"Go ring the doorbell!" Ashley squeals.

"No! I'm not ringing a doorbell of a persons house when I don't have a clue where I am," I say.

"Oh come on don't be a baby just do it," Erin sasses.

"Fine then Ms. Snappy pants," I say back sticking my tongue out at her.

I walk up to the door kind of scared of what might be waiting behind it. Thoughts flood through my mind making me second guess if I should press the doorbell or not.

"Come on!" Erin and Ashley yell from behind me.

I quickly press the doorbell.

The door slowly creaks open and I scream from excitement when I realize who it is.

"Cameron!" I scream pulling him into a hug.

"Hey Annie," he says through a huge grin as he hugs me back.

Cameron was mine and Erin's best friend when we were probably around 14.

Honestly I don't even remember how we met him. He's just kind of one of those people you end up being friends with but you aren't really sure how it happened. About a year after we met him he moved to Carson, California and we swore we would someday come and see him.

"I missed you so much!" I say.

"I missed you too," he pulls me into another hug. His short arms wrapping around me.

Cameron was always short. He's Filipino so he has really tan skin and that explains why he's always been so short.

"Happy birthday by the way," he says.

"Thanks!"

"How old are you now?" He questions.

"I'm 19," I say with a smile.

"Man someone's getting old," he says flashing me another smile.

"Oh shush you're older than me," I tease.

"Hey Cameron," Erin says running up to give him a hug.

"Hey," he says hugging her back.

"So you guys planned this behind my back?" I ask.

"Yes sir we did," Erin says. I just decide to ignore her use of sir instead of ma'am. She's done it for years just to annoy people.

"Are you going to hang out with us all day?" I ask Cameron.

"Yup!" He replies.

"Well let's go have some fun!" I squeal in excitement. This is going to be the best birthday ever.
