I change into a knee length pencil skirt and match it with a cheetah print buttoned chiffon tank top. I grab my black heels and my purse.
"Hey I'm going to go meet with a lawyer," I tell Erin. "Do you mind driving me? I'm still not allowed to drive."
"Yeah sure thing," She replies.
"I have no idea how long it'll take. All you have to do is drop me off then pick me up."
"Ok that's fine." She grabs her car keys from the hook in the kitchen. "You ready to go?" she asks.
"Yeah." We get in the car. "So what was it that Kian wanted to talk to you about, if you don't mind me asking."
"He wanted to tell me that Travis was his brother," I tell her.
"Are you serious!" She says.
"Yeah he's his half brother."
"And you're still planning on pressing charges against him?" she asks.
"Yeah Kian said that they never got along and that Travis has already been to jail like three times for things like this."
"How come he never told you?"
"I have no idea I asked him the same question," I say.
The car parks as we pull into the parking lot of my lawyers office.
"See you in a bit. I'll call you when I'm done," I tell Erin before closing the door.
I walk into the office and to the front desk.
"Hello how may I help you?" The secretary asks.
"Hi, I have an appointment with Susan Burke," I reply.
"Your name please."
"Annie Koke."
"Just go down the hall and it's the second door on the left. She's in there waiting for you," The woman says giving me a smile.
"Thanks." As I walk to the office I was directed to go to my heels click against the wooden floors.
I knock on the door.
"Come in!" I hear someone say from inside. I open the door slowly.
"Hi, you must be Annie," Susan says as she stands from her desk.
I walk over to the desk and shake her hand.
"Nice to meet you," I say.
"Same to you," she replies. "Please, take a seat." She motions to the chairs.
I drop my purse from my shoulder then set it on the floor, then take a seat.
"I see you want to press charges against someone who assaulted you," she says.
"Yes I would also like to put a restraining order in place too."
"Well we can do that. Do you have the medical records?" She asks.
"Yes I do." I reach down and grab the folder of medical records from my purse.
"Thank you," she says as I hand them to her. She scans over the records briefly.
"So you were in a coma for a week with a concussion?" she questions.
"Yes ma'am. I was discharged from the hospital 4 days ago after recovering for an extra week."
"Yes I see that here. Have you had any previous run ins with Mr. Hynes?" she asks.
"Nothing major, though he did almost start a fight with my ex boyfriend."
"Ok and did he try to forcefully come onto you that time as he had just recently?"
"Yes he attempted to but my boyfriend at the time and his friends had stopped him before he could do anything."
"Ok then. Your case will be taken to court tomorrow afternoon. Is that ok?"
"Yes that works," I say.
"Alright then I will see you at the courthouse at 2pm."
"Thank you." I shake her hand then leave.
I pull out my phone once I get outside and text Erin. After waiting for about 5 minutes she pulls up.
"How'd it go?" she asks as I get in the car.
"Good. The case is being taken to the courthouse tomorrow afternoon."
"Will you need a ride?" Erin asks.
"No Kian can take me I need him as a witness."
"Ok." We pull up to the house.
I pull my phone out again and call Kian.
"Hey," he says as he picks up.
"I met with my lawyer this afternoon and I got a court date set up for tomorrow afternoon. I need you to be a witness."
"Alrighty what time?" He asks.
"I need you to drive me so pick me up around 1:30."
"Ok. What's up?" He asks.
"Nothing really just got home. How about you?"
"Just hangin out. You want to go out tonight?"
"Not really sorry. My head hurts, you can come over here though and just hangout," I say.
"Sure. What time?"
"Whenever," I say.
"Ok well I think I'm going to work out first so I should be over in about 2 or 3 hours."
"Sounds good," I tell him.
"See you later."
"Bye." I hang the phone up then walk upstairs. I quickly kick my shoes off and change into a pair of sweatpants and a tank top then throw my hair up in a messy bun.
I walk over to the window and look outside at the people roaming the beach. There's children running around, your usual PDA couples, your beach hotties, and the old people wearing skimpy bathing suits. Yup that's the beach for you.
I sit down in my bed and grab my laptop. I click to YouTube and start to watch some of Kian and Sam's old music videos. I choose my favorite one- Set This World On Fire by The Jenoskians. I sit there and watch. I remember how I used to watch it in my room wishing I could live in California and meet Kian and Sam.
Now I'm living in California and I'm actually dating Kian. No way in hell did I ever think that I would end up dating Kian Lawley. The video ends and tears fill my eyes. My mind flashes back to the endless hours I used to spend watching O2L videos and obsessing over them. When I first found them my sister started getting worried about me because the only way I would talk to her is if the topic was somehow about O2L... It was seriously that bad.
I wipe away the few tears caused by happy memories. Now I'm living all those dreams I'd had. Never had I loved where I am or what I'm doing with my life so much. My heart tells me that this is my California Dream and I know it.
